finished day 1 with almost 120k chips, we started with 45k and didnt lose many players so its a pretty big stack, Im happy

Just got back from a super hilarious dinner with a bunch of people so Im in a great mood, hopefully Ill be able to get some good sleep.

I won a 100 bucks off Roy winston on some over under prop bet at the table today but the real funny story was this hand involving Chainsaw where he called river on a AK522 board and almost mucked his ace when he was shown A-J by JC Tran before some older guy at the table told him any ace was a chop... needless to say JC was noooot happy

I've been having a great time in Vegas so far. I flew in late friday night and was greeted by Irieguy, Alan Sass and a whole bunch of other friends when I arrived at the house, the champagne was on ice and everyone was in full party mode. Irieguy and I ended up staying all night partying including various degen gambling and taking a trip to redrock to book a bet on the de la hoya fight that was on Saturday night.

We didn't feel like sleeping so around 8 or 9am we woke up Alan and Justin and convinced them to come play 9 holes with us. I haven't golfed in a couple years so I was pretty excited. We grabbed a ton of beers and whiskey, set up some bets for the course and took off.

I have no idea how I did, I do know Irie only made it through 6.5 holes and I made it through 8 before being incapable of playing so I think I was the winner. Justin and Alan won all the skins though.

That night we had a bunch of people over to watch the fight. De la hoya got stomped and I lost about 4k.

I went over to Raptor's house which i hadn't seen yet and watched the Dark Knight on Monday night on his 110inch projection screen. The theatre room is a sweet ass setup with lazy boys and the whole deal. The whole house looked pretty good for the short amount of time he's had to really put stuff in it.

Tuesday night I went over to the Bellagio and met up with Chuddo for some drinks. We ran into Brian Rast and Andrew Robl and talked to them for a bit. Fix was closed for some Christmas party so Andrew drove Chuddo and I over to T.I so we could drink some sake at Social House. Sadly it was also closed! Vegas is deaaaaaaaaaaddddd right now. Further evidence: They were spreading 10 dollar craps and 5 dollar BJ at the BELLAGIO! I don't think I've ever seen that at nightime there before, although it was a tuesday.

Chuddo used this to elaborate on his favorite topic about how America is going busto and I should buy gold and lots of guns, over drinks at some Mexican place in T.I that we decided on. While there I got a call from a few people who were heading to the Rhino so we decided that we would go over to the Wynn, catch up with our friends Nate and Leah there and then maybe head over there.

At the Wynn Chud and I played some WPT all in holdem and had a few drinks. We decided it was time to go meet up with Nate and Leah when I managed to spill two drinks all over the table trying to bet Chud's bonus action.

The four of us hung out around the Wynn and pretty much just got messed up. We were all having so much fun that by the time I couldn't drink anymore it was 630am so I headed for home instead of the Rhino. I'm sure I missed out meeting some nice single moms but you can't do everything in one night.

---------

Today I am going to play in the 5k Bellagio event. I ended up getting up at 6am so hopefully I'll be able to make it through to the end of the day without falling asleep at the table. I'm excited to play and I think if nothing else today will be a great warm-up for the 15k main event that starts on the weekend. I am on a pretty insane hot streak in live tournaments with my last 6 events including a second place in the 10k PLO WSOP a cash in the Bellagio 15k event and a 4th place finish in the London High Roller, so I'm looking to keep that up today!

Sometimes I think I should stick to MTTs instead of just playing a few of them on occasional Sundays while watching football. I find it really relaxing to play a bunch on the laptop, watch NFL games and all my favorite TV shows which are mostly on Sunday night (Entourage, Life and times of Tim, Dexter, True Blood)

Anyways SHIP IT HOLLA, I won the second chance today for almost 50k, which somewhat makes up for my lazy/run terrible week (read a few hours) of HU cash. Winning tournaments always feels 100x better then winning that same amount of money in cash games, which is I guess what always keeps me coming back to them.

My good friend Irieguy organized another sailing trip this year and I just got back a couple days ago. The trip was unreal. We saw some amazing places and had an all around chill and good time.

He put together and amazing trip report on twoplustwo and nothing I could possibly write here could really top that. It is mainly a picture report which I think best communicates what the vacation was all about.

Feel free to ask any questions or leave any comments here that you may have.

THE TR LINK: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/79...4/#post6843048

The OP has most of the pictures but Lacky who also came along posted several others around the 40th post of the thread.

I got back home late last night after a great end to the Europe trip final tabling the EPT high roller event. Not sure when it's going to be on TV in each country but if anyone finds that info out let me know.

It was broadcast live over the internet though which was fun since I was able to call my Mom on break and she was able to watch me play. I showed up a bit late after the dinner break and got a panicked call from her asking where I was since the commentators were apparently remarking how I was late and they were starting without me.

Some random stories from the High roller:

With about 3 or 4 tables left I was in a game with Negreanu, Medic and Jason Mercier who I thought was also Canadian and I made a comment to Jason about how crazy it was that so many Canadians were at this table... he looked confused for a second and then realizing what I meant told me he was actually from Miami but people make that mistake a lot. I asked him if that bothered him that people thought he was Canadian and as he was about to reply Barry G. who was also at the table says, "Damnit I've been playing you like a Canadian this whole time"

I don't think I ever won a PF all in where I had less then 60% equity the whole tournament which is kind of crazy even in a 86 player field but I did super cooler Juanda on the final table bubble which helped me become the chip leader heading into the final table.

I was really surprised at some people's play in this event. Isabelle Mercier played about how I was expecting her to on the bubble (very tight) since I know making the televised final table is a big deal for her but I was shocked at how insanely tightly Scotty Nguyen played the entire way down from two table until his 5th place finish. His play at the final table was just insanely insanely tight. It really changed the whole game, all of us had to play much more cautiously then would usually be correct until he had been eliminated since he hung around with very few chips for a while, winning several all ins including two against me.

Scotty was also his usual jovial self having had quite a few drinks once we were several hours into the tournament. For whatever reason he seemed to take quite a liking to me and kept complimenting me on my table manners to the point of awkward excess. I like Scotty fine, I was just slightly weirded out at how insistent he was at continously saying things like, "You know baby, you are what all young guns should be act like baby" and other less sensical things on that tangent. I kind of felt like he was trying to make up for the H.O.R.S.E final table and asked me several times if I would defend myself if someone started to talk smack to me, which of course I would but I wouldn't exactly relate that hypothetical situation to the H.O.R.S.E fiasco. Anyway it just added some flavor to the whole experience and Scotty overall is a funny likable guy so no big deal.

I played with Barry for while in this event and in the EPT london event and had him covered most of the time but still no book I really really want one now, I think more people should have a similar kind of bounty/trophy/gimmick thing, maybe I should give people some kind of Leggo thing or something? It would have to be awesome though to compete with the book signing.

After I came 4th Tom (durrr) Brian (Chuddo) and my friend Kaitlin and I went out to some Arcade place that had bowling and stuff and then met up with Sorel (Imperium/Zangbezan) and some people at some random club. It was a little tough to find a good spot since it was Monday night but we ended up at a pretty good place that looked busy (can't remember the name right now). We grabbed a table there and Tom remembered that Ivey had recommended earlier we come here and just as he mentioned that Ivey walks up behind us and says hi. Ivey is a huge badass, he was wearing a white t shirt and white shoes, probably the only person in the place who can get away with it and has a couple friends with him that apparently are like his entourage and they are partying with a whole bunch of rando looking model chicks. He leaves talking to us and climbs back over into his booth and orders 5 bottles of Cristal. What a baller. The place ended up being great and it was really fun night and fitting end to the trip.

More stories to come later on this is getting a little long

Poker in Europe is amazing.

I start the day at table 28 seat 2. Or so I thought. I arrive about 30 minutes late to find some other young euro dude playing in my seat. I say, "Ummm I think I'm suppose to be seat 2" and totally casually he turns around and says yeah I know, sorry 'I make mistake'. We get the floor over and it is explained that he sat in the wrong seat to start the day then decided not to tell anyone. I look around and the table is amazing so I offer to take what should have been his seat in 6 since nobody played a hand there anyways and that seems acceptable to the tournament director.

Some hands:

limp, I raise KK OTB to 275 both blinds and limper calls. J-10-5r checked to me I bet 750 or so, BB makes it 2k I call. Turn 8 check check river 5 BB bets 2k again, I think and make it 4200 leaving me with 3k or so. He calls and mucks.

This got me off to a great start at a great table. With Katja Thater on my right I basically get direct position on the donks to her right since an empty seat plays more hands, and the donks were fairly epic.

I busted the guy who took my seat pretty early in the day (that'll show him) and was up to 25k. Lost a couple flips and went back down to 11k or so right before dinner when I play this hand (Yes this was a real hand from an EPT event)

utg open to 850 at 150/300/25 called by limper in hand 1 and by new old man in sb with lots of chips I make it 2700 in BB and all of them call. Funny things about pf: 1. utg has K8o (found out after the hand) 2. The in position caller favors to have a worse hand then K8o 3. The Old man says to me before calling getting that sick price to close the action "Well I guess this is just giving money away"

Flop is 10s9s5h Old guy quickly leads 4k I ship the 7.5k or w/e more fold fold Old man calls. I'm pretty sure he has like some kind of decent draw here after his pf comment and flop play but nope, he's got the ooollllllll red AKo... back up to 25k

I tell Max in our room at dinner I am going to have to stack this guy.

After dinner, folded to Old man in sb (nice guy btw I feel like I'm being harsh on his play so thought I should mention that) he limps, I have Q-10o and make it 1300 more at 3/6/75 he calls. Flop Qh-3c-2c check 3k call. turn Qs check 7k, he thinks a bit and ships it for 20k or so total, I snap he's got the pocket fours and I'm up to 50k.

I lost some decent sized pots at the end of the day to finish at 36,900. I'm a bit disappointed in how I ended up considering the way the day went but very excited for today and happy to be above avg stack. Also I'm glad to be playing live still because the internet is so slow and useless that it is totally unplayable, oh yeah and cost of said internet: 75pounds per week. Day 2 starts in half an hour so I have to go get ready. holla

I made it to Day 2 with 50,175 which starts in a few hours. Starting stack was 20k, buyin was 10kGBP. A few friends, Durrr, Raptor, and Mark Radoja (Acespade11) also made day 2.

I don't have time to talk about any hands really since I need to get ready but I will come back and write more later on this week when I have a chance. I started off playing pretty mediocre I thought but by level three was back on my game. I'm really looking forward to today. Blinds start at 300/600 75 and you can follow along at pokernews.com

Munich and Oktoberfest in general was unreal. EM2 made it into Germany and was in fine degen form. Radoja impressed me by matching him step for step. Trip report for that and for the first few days in London to follow.

Wish me luck

Disaster

My good friend Blake a.k.a the illest a.k.a Empiremaker2 was supposed to fly in to Toronto on wednesday night and party here for a few days before we both go to Munich on Monday and then on to London for some WSOPe and EPT events.

The Canadian Customs officials had other plans.

He flies in to Toronto and is stopped mere meters from the outside of the airport and held up for hours. They apparently saw his old underage drinking and evading arrest misdemeanors on his record, and even though he never did any jail time and has had them wiped off his record they decided to not let him into the country. They presented him with two pretty terrible options:

1. Go home on the next flight

2. Go to Toronto jail

Since Jail wasn't really what Blake wanted to do in Toronto (they don't serve booze there and there's no women) He had to go home.

Why you wouldn't want a full blown king of degen in your Country is beyond me but I for one know that Canada will be missing Blake this weekend.

We tried to get a hold of various lawyers and even considered trying some type of massive escape where Blake makes a run for it and I pick him and ride to freedom but nothing came to fruition.

We won't be letting this stop us of course as Germany and London are happy to let him in to their countries so we will just meet up there. We are also meeting up with Max and maybe skier and some other poker players. I'm really excited for my first Oktoberfest, I've heard so many insane things about it. Has anyone reading this been before? Any things that I must do or see? Advice?

It's the Toronto International Film Festival this week. I haven't made it out to any movies yet but I have been to a few great parties already. Friday I went to Rosewater late night since some bars are open until 4am this week and saw Mats Sundin and some other lesser celebs there. Sadly I didn't get a chance to ask Mats about his Poker stars deal.

Saturday night I was invited by my good friend Emma to the Time Magazine party and another friend, Jim also came. I met a ton of very interesting people including a few producers, a large scale event planner, and someone who operates a private health clinic in Toronto which I had no idea even existed.

We left that party with our gift bags and a giant wheel of cheese (this is a whole separate story) around 1030 or so and headed over to Ultra, a high end bar/club/lounge kinda place on Queen street. I was concerned we may not get in easily but surprisingly we got in very quickly. I overheard the hostess or list keeper or w/e she was say to the bouncer, "We need more guys in here, it's 9 to 1 girls to guys inside right now!" I of course quickly volunteered our services and tried to hide emma behind us which was easy since she is so tiny.

I think that's the first time I have EVER been to a place where it was noticeably easier to get in as a guy. Needless to say the night was incredible.

Apparently tonight is Paris Hilton's party at that same bar which got moved from Saturday so I may have to go out again tonight even though I was planning on taking it easy.

Tough Life.

Am I missing something huge here?

Betfair is offering a 550usd sat to win a 24kusd package. This package includes:

Each Betfair $24,000 package includes:

* $20,700 buy-in to the WSOP Europe Main Event
* $3,300 to cover Expenses (to cover accommodation and flights)
* Access to the exclusive Betfair Players Lounge
* A Betfair goody bag
* A prize pool of over £4,000,000
* VIP Ticket collection in Players Lounge

The buyin to the main event is 10,500GBP though which as of today converts to:

Live rates at 2008.09.06 17:33:56 UTC
10,500.00 GBP=18,567.15 USD
United Kingdom Pounds United States Dollars
1 GBP = 1.76830 USD 1 USD = 0.565515 GBP

So where is this extra 2k and change going?

It's even worse on Poker Stars. For the high roller SNG sat it is a 20 person 2,000+100usd buyin and the prize pool only pays out one place for the 20kGBP seat. 20kGBP is only 35,365usd !!! So what is PS doing with the other 5k???

I sent an email to Stars and as of yet have had no response. Can someone help with this? I want to play some of the sats!
