Hi all,

I've just read article in pocket fives and I wandered what my poker journey should be. I think everybody playing poker and watching TV shows have dreams to play in a huge game with Antonius, Ivey and others and to own them, but it's simply not going to happen for most of us. When I think about about more realistic goals/destinations, my poker goals are these:
  • To become good at game. What you call good is relative and depends on each person, but I think I would be happy to play in mid stakes.
  • Poker as an income during my university years. Poker offers flexibility and is more rewarding (in terms of money) then working in some bar or whatever.

I also have some short term goals:
  • Achieve NL100 + by July 1st 2009
  • Try heads up cash as soon as my bankroll is enough for that. I follow some conservative bankroll management guidelines, so I need 2500$ to try NL50.

Tools for success:
  • Trainining videos.
  • Hand reviews. I have recently developed a habit of reviewing hands daily and I will continue that, but I will do weekly reviews instead of daily.
  • Poker forums. Leggo poker forum looks very good to me, but I should avoid wasting time on useless threads in 2+2.
  • Coaching. I'm not going to get coaching now, but it will be an option in the future.

Life goals:
  • Get into university in UK. I already have a conditional offer from Birmingham, but I'm still waiting for answers from Warvick and Durham.
  • Start martial arts training.
  • Put some weight on
  • Great results in school this year as it is the last year.
  • Pass english exam called IELTS for studying in UK

I'll keep u updated.

This was worst session since I've started to play in bodog. 1 AA vs JJ and other hands are simply spew imo.

HAND #1

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players

SB: $27.45
BB: $10.05
UTG: $43.30
MP: $25.25
Hero (CO): $25.00
BTN: $24.50

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is CO with J Q
UTG calls $0.25, 1 fold, Hero raises to $1.25, 3 folds, UTG calls $1

Flop: ($2.85) 9 3 6 (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $2.00, UTG calls $2

Turn: ($6.85) Q (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $4.25, UTG calls $4.25

River: ($15.35) 4 (2 players)
UTG bets $15.35, Hero calls $15.35

Final Pot: $46.05
UTG shows 3 3
Hero mucks J Q
UTG wins $44.55
(Rake: $1.50)

I tilt so I call very fast on the river. Villain is unknown loose player.

Hand #2

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players

SB: $9.74
BB: $43.15
UTG: $40.00
MP: $29.37
Hero (CO): $24.65
BTN: $15.59

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is CO with Q K
2 folds, Hero raises to $1.00, BTN calls $1, 2 folds

Flop: ($2.35) 6 K 5 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $2.00, Hero raises to $6.00, BTN calls $4

Turn: ($14.35) 9 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $8.59 all in, Hero calls $8.59

River: ($31.53) 5 (2 players - 1 is all in)

Final Pot: $31.53
Hero shows Q K
BTN shows A K
BTN wins $30.03
(Rake: $1.50)

Nothing interesting.

Played 800 hands yesterday and now I have a lot of interesting situations to review.

HAND #1

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 5 players

UTG: $42.33
CO: $27.40
Hero (BTN): $29.96
SB: $22.10
BB: $22.20

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is BTN with A A
UTG calls $0.25, 1 fold, Hero raises to $1.25, SB calls $1.15, 1 fold, UTG calls $1

Flop: ($4.00) 3 J A (3 players)
SB bets $0.25, UTG folds, Hero raises to $3.75, SB calls $3.50

Turn: ($11.50) 9 (2 players)
SB bets $0.25, Hero raises to $9.00, SB calls $8.75

River: ($29.50) 7 (2 players)
SB bets $0.25, Hero calls $0.25

Final Pot: $30.00
Hero shows A A
SB shows J 8
Hero wins $29.00
(Rake: $1.00)

I think that my play in this hand is totally standard, but I will post it in forums anyway. And well played SB

HAND #2

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 5 players

BB: $24.05
UTG: $9.72
CO: $10.36
Hero (BTN): $27.45
SB: $53.10

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is BTN with T K
UTG calls $0.25, CO calls $0.25, Hero raises to $1.50, 1 fold, BB calls $1.25, UTG calls $1.25, CO calls $1.25

Flop: ($6.10) 6 6 4 (4 players)
BB checks, UTG bets $0.25, CO calls $0.25, Hero raises to $4.50, BB raises to $11.10, UTG folds, CO folds, Hero raises to $25.95 all in, BB calls $11.45 all in

Turn: ($51.70) 9 (2 players - 2 are all in)

River: ($51.70) 7 (2 players - 2 are all in)

Final Pot: $51.70
BB shows A A
Hero shows T K
BB wins $50.70
(Rake: $1.00)

BB is 53/6 over 50 hands. When he reraises me on flop I put him on Ax flush draws, 44, 6x and pockets like 77-QQ. I thought that he would reraise me preflop with AA,KK. I ran pokerstove and it says:

Board: 6c 6h 4h

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 32.104% 32.05% 00.05% 25387 39.00 { KhTh }
Hand 1: 67.896% 67.85% 00.05% 53735 39.00 { QQ-77, 44, AhKh, AhQh, AhJh, AhTh, Ah9h, Ah8h, Ah7h, Ah6h, Ah5h, Ah4h, Ah3h, Ah2h, K6s, Q6s, 86s, 76s, A6o, K6o, Q6o, 86o, 76o }

So I'm assuming that I should have folded on flop since I don't have any fold equity there.

HAND #3

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players

Hero (BTN): $24.65
SB: $26.75
BB: $19.40
UTG: $14.90
MP: $42.35
CO: $44.80

CO posts a big blind ($0.45)

Pre Flop: ($0.80) Hero is BTN with K Q
1 fold, MP calls $0.45, CO checks, Hero raises to $1.50, SB calls $1.40, 1 fold, MP calls $1.05, 1 fold

Flop: ($5.20) 7 9 9 (3 players)
SB checks, MP checks, Hero bets $3.35, SB folds, MP calls $3.35

Turn: ($11.90) 3 (2 players)
MP bets $3.75, Hero calls $3.75

River: ($19.40) 5 (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets $11.00, MP calls $11

Final Pot: $41.40
Hero shows K Q
MP shows J 9
MP wins $39.80
(Rake: $1.60)

Awful river bluff. Villain is 42/25 over 35 hands.

HAND #4

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players

Hero (BTN): $26.80
SB: $24.25
BB: $28.75
UTG: $16.60
MP: $38.36
CO: $12.35

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is BTN with K K
1 fold, MP raises to $0.70, CO calls $0.70, Hero raises to $2.95, 3 folds, CO calls $2.25

Flop: ($6.95) 5 A T (2 players)
CO bets $5.00, Hero folds

Final Pot: $6.95
CO wins $6.65
(Rake: $0.30)

Looks standard fold to me, another option would be to float. No reads on villain, the only thing worth noticing that he's most likely to be fishy, because he limped 6 of 13 dealt hands.

HAND #5

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players

BTN: $51.53
SB: $23.90
BB: $26.45
UTG: $19.75
MP: $14.73
Hero (CO): $32.40

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is CO with A K
UTG raises to $0.50, MP calls $0.50, Hero raises to $2.25, BTN raises to $7.60, 5 folds

Final Pot: $5.85
BTN wins $5.85

BTN's preflop play looks very strong 2 me, so I don't mind folding AK.

And also I thought about some theory and will also post in in forums.

No interesting hands, but it was kinda interesting, because I felt I'm not playing my best game and I'm unfocused so I left, even though there were HUGE fishes on table.

Spew hand

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 4 players

BB: $18.90
CO: $25.47
Hero (BTN): $24.90
SB: $62.45

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is BTN with Q T
CO calls $0.25, Hero raises to $1.25, SB calls $1.15, 2 folds

Flop: ($3.00) A K 9 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($3.00) J (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $2.25, SB calls $2.25

River: ($7.50) 3 (2 players)
SB bets $58.95 all in, Hero calls $21.40 all in

Final Pot: $50.30
Hero shows Q T
SB shows 7 2
SB wins $49.30
(Rake: $1.00)

Yesterday's session was very good, except for one spot where I think that I spewed. Almost no interesting hands (from bigger pots). Here's teh graph:

HAND #1

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 5 players

BTN: $34.40
SB: $24.14
BB: $61.90
Hero (UTG): $32.05
CO: $63.93

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is UTG with 9 9
Hero raises to $1.00, 3 folds, BB raises to $1.75, Hero calls $0.75

Flop: ($3.60) 6 5 4 (2 players)
BB bets $0.25, Hero raises to $2.50, BB raises to $6.05, Hero raises to $30.30 all in, BB calls $24.25

Turn: ($64.20) J (2 players - 1 is all in)

River: ($64.20) K (2 players - 1 is all in)

Final Pot: $64.20
BB shows 8 7
Hero shows 9 9
BB wins $63.20
(Rake: $1.00)

This is the hand where I think that I spewed away buyin. Villain was 47/28/3 over 21 hands sample which doesn't say anything, but from some examples I knew that he was monkey and maniac. Because he shoved like in 5 hands out of 20 he played. Anyway I will put this hand in leggo forum and 2+2.

Weekend goals:
-play 2k hands
-watch 2 6max videos

Yesterday session was profitable, but I made some bad plays in the end, so I am not really happy with my game.

Here's key hands:

Hand #1

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 5 players

BB: $23.35
UTG: $22.56
CO: $66.53
BTN: $22.55
Hero (SB): $25.98

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is SB with Q K
UTG calls $0.25, 2 folds, Hero raises to $1.35, BB calls $1.10, UTG calls $1.10

Flop: ($4.05) 7 J T (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG bets $4.05, Hero raises to $24.63 all in, BB folds, UTG calls $17.16 all in

Turn: ($46.47) Q (2 players - 2 are all in)

River: ($46.47) 4 (2 players - 2 are all in)

Final Pot: $46.47
UTG shows 2 3
Hero shows Q K
Hero wins $45.47
(Rake: $1.00)

I probably played this hand badly, but it was extremely funny to see villain's hand.

HAND #2

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 5 players

SB: $24.00
BB: $24.75
UTG: $61.68
CO: $18.75
Hero (BTN): $69.58

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is BTN with Q T
UTG calls $0.25, 1 fold, Hero raises to $1.25, 1 fold, BB calls $1, 1 fold

Flop: ($2.85) 6 9 T (2 players)
BB bets $1.75, Hero calls $1.75

Turn: ($6.35) A (2 players)
BB bets $3.25, Hero calls $3.25

River: ($12.85) 8 (2 players)
BB bets $5.00, Hero calls $5

Final Pot: $22.85
BB shows A 7
Hero mucks Q T
BB wins $21.85
(Rake: $1.00)

Now I think I should have folded on river, also I was thinking about raising flop, but I don't know how good/bad that would be. Villain is unknown.

Hand #3

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 3 players

BB: $48.43
BTN: $21.85
Hero (SB): $80.58

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is SB with T T
1 fold, Hero raises to $1.10, BB calls $0.85

Flop: ($2.20) 6 7 7 (2 players)
Hero bets $1.40, BB calls $1.40

Turn: ($5.00) 9 (2 players)
Hero bets $2.80, BB raises to $5.60, Hero folds

Final Pot: $10.60
BB wins $10.10
(Rake: $0.50)

I'm lost in this spot and I actually thought that a passive player here would just call his 9 or 6, so he's most likely to be raising 7x here. That's why I folded. His stats are 44/4/0.36 over 100 hands.

HAND#4

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 5 players

UTG: $24.25
CO: $25.00
BTN: $55.93
SB: $18.85
Hero (BB): $75.28

UTG posts a big blind ($0.45)

CO posts a big blind ($0.25)

Pre Flop: ($1.05) Hero is BB with 8 8
UTG checks, CO checks, BTN raises to $1.30, 1 fold, Hero calls $1.05, 2 folds

Flop: ($3.40) 2 3 Q (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN checks

Turn: ($3.40) J (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $1.75, Hero calls $1.75

River: ($6.90) 4 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $2.55, Hero calls $2.55

Final Pot: $12.00
BTN shows Q A
Hero mucks 8 8
BTN wins $11.35
(Rake: $0.65)

I think I should fold turn, because he's really passive and board has two overs. River is a clear fold.

HAND #5

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 4 players

BB: $64.35
Hero (CO): $25.80
BTN: $36.34
SB: $24.15

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is CO with 9 9
Hero raises to $1.00, BTN calls $1, 2 folds

Flop: ($2.35) K 3 K (2 players)
Hero bets $1.40, BTN calls $1.40

Turn: ($5.15) A (2 players)
Hero bets $3.30, BTN raises to $9.00, Hero folds

Final Pot: $11.75
BTN wins $11.20
(Rake: $0.55)

Villain is 56/27/1.23 over 62 hands. Cbet was standard as this board is so so dry, but I'm not sure about turn, Ax is definitely in his range.

I was frustrated yesterday, but the session wasn't even the losing one, so I can't complain, but I've just felt like no one is folding to any cbet and I'm not catching any hands. Still I won at 3 ptbb/100 rate. I will be posting session reviews for everyday when I played.

Yesterday session:

HAND #1

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players

MP: $20.95
CO: $24.65
BTN: $22.40
SB: $12.05
Hero (BB): $23.50
UTG: $25.00

UTG posts a big blind ($0.25)

Pre Flop: ($0.60) Hero is BB with A K
UTG checks, 2 folds, BTN calls $0.25, SB calls $0.15, Hero raises to $1.55, UTG calls $1.30, 2 folds

Flop: ($3.60) 9 7 K (2 players)
Hero bets $2.50, UTG raises to $5.00, Hero raises to $21.95 all in, UTG calls $16.95

Turn: ($47.50) 9 (2 players - 1 is all in)

River: ($47.50) A (2 players - 1 is all in)

Final Pot: $47.50
Hero shows A K
UTG shows 5 4
UTG wins $46.00
(Rake: $1.50)

I think that I've played this hand bad, because UTG was Tight-Passive, straightforward donkish player, so minraise on this board from him should look very powerful. His stats are 21/11/0.8 over 250 hands sample. I think it's slightly profitable in most optimistic scenario, but I really think I should have folded. I will post this hand in forum anyway.

Hand #2

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players

MP: $32.14
CO: $12.55
BTN: $33.70
SB: $29.98
Hero (BB): $51.18
UTG: $34.60

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is BB with J J
1 fold, MP raises to $1.00, 3 folds, Hero raises to $3.25, MP calls $2.25

Flop: ($6.60) 4 Q 2 (2 players)
Hero bets $4.50, MP calls $4.50

Turn: ($15.60) 9 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $10.00, Hero folds

Final Pot: $15.60
MP shows A K
MP wins $14.85
(Rake: $0.75)

I think I should have raised to 3.5-3.75 preflop and I'm clueless about postflop action. The player was 45/12/0.85 over 93 hands sample, his postlop agression is about 2 to 3 . He took a stab in one hand on river after I checked behind on turn and folded to my 4bet when he was 54 bb deep, although he had invested 16 bb in the pot.

HAND #3

Bodog $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 4 players

Hero (BB): $31.15
CO: $32.30
BTN: $23.20
SB: $28.95

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is BB with 6 4
2 folds, SB calls $0.15, Hero checks

Flop: ($0.50) 5 7 7 (2 players)
SB bets $0.50, Hero raises to $2.00, SB calls $1.50

Turn: ($4.50) 2 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $3.30, SB raises to $7.80, Hero folds

Final Pot: $11.10
SB wins $10.55
(Rake: $0.55)

I don't know how good or bad this was, but I think I shouldn't play any bigger pots in unraised PF hands unless I catch a monster. The player in SB is 26/16/2 over 185 and I can't reach my notes on Bodog, but I remember that he was definitely fishy. This is generally dry board, so I thought raise might fold out his Ax,Kx hand or whatever and I was lost on turn and tried to bluff him. Looking back I think that he only folds a small proportion of hands that he called a turn with, so I should take a free card on turn.

---------------------------------------

These hands aren't very interesting, but I want to do hand review everyday and focus on hands that I've lost most with in the session.

Really this isn't the first post I've ever posted here in leggo, but I've deleted last two posts mainly because I decided to play another game. I used to play 22$-33$ HUSNGs, but I'm bored with them and NL cash seems exciting to me, so I will focus on 6max cash now. I played my first 2k hands in 6max in Full Tilt and I have to admit that I sucked. Here's my ugly graph:

I moved my bankroll to Bodog, where I got nice deal and I ran hot, though I didn't play many hands. I have made 106$ in 700 hands. I will continue to play in Bodog as I like bonuses that I get and I like their software.

This blog will be a place where I'l post my session reviews, key hands from last session that I've played or some ramblings. I really hope that every visitor of my blog will comment interesting hands and I will participate in leggo forums occasionally .

My december goals:
[ ] 15 k hands
[ ] watch at least three training videos
[ ] play 50 HUSNGs to get bwin bonus and this will be an end of SNGs playing
[ ] profit

And gl everyone in December.
