this may be two parts since it's been a while since my last post. i've effectively put my entire life on hold while planning vegas and staying with my parents in salisbury, md. progress was slow for a while, likely due to the holidays, but i've submitted an application for a 2br condo in sky on the 37th floor which should be perfect. if everything goes well then i'll be leaving this weekend. i haven't been playing much at all but i got my new computer and another 30", so i've been slowly setting that up for the grind that will ensue in the coming weeks. i'll be sure to add pictures once i'm set up and settled.

as if i could give anything lost related less than 5 stars. video games that are based on movies or tv are usually not good but this was amazing. some parts of the game were weird/difficult to the point of frustration but that's a forgone conclusion when i play video games (i may or may not have smashed a controller while playing uncharted 2). it's a different storyline that loosely ties in with the main storyline of lost. interestingly unique, good graphics, accurate, awesome!

you know how i said uncharted 2 was the best game of all time? it's the second best game of all time. i'm actually still grinding out some of the various things you have to find throughout the game but i'll give it a preemptive 5 stars. very similar to assassin's creed but with some nice upgrades. the basic story is that you're an ancestor of assassins and you're captured by the templars. you need to use your ancestor's memories to learn to fight modern day templars. just f play it.

first movie i've watched on streaming netflix. fairly good, although there are some cheesy parts. not much is really sticking out in my mind. i could probably find 2 stars for this, but i'm feeling generous.

5 stars! you're just going to have to trust me, because honestly i thought this was going to be the worst movie ever and it sat in the pile for several weeks before i watched it. set in philadelphia where i lived for 3 years, and partially in vegas where i'm about to live. be prepared for a score of sad piano music and incredibly exciting action. if you don't cry, laugh and enthusiastically fist pump then you're a f robot.

this is prob what kanye was talking about. since my last update i went home for thanksgiving for ~10 days; overall f boring but it was nice to relax a bit. i played almost no poker while in salisbury and my results were basically 50% of my previous month in both mobnies and hands. over this past weekend i met fees in atlantic city for a bit of gamboling and had a lot of fun. we stayed at the water club, which is part of the borgata and quite nice. i played maybe ~8 hours of live 5/10 and got a bit of redemption on the old nits who got me last time i visited ac. i also ran extremely f bad in flips, paying for literally everything we bought. we had a really nice dinner at bobby flay steak; prob best steak i've ever had but my memory isn't perfect. then we ate breakfast, played a bit more, and got massages. this spa was insane; two stories, huge pool, and an overwhelming amount of ways to relax. i'm pretty sure i broke inf rules of etiquette because i've never really been in a place like this. overall very nice, highly recommended. then we met one of fees's friends, crazy mike, and went to girl talk at the house of blues. on the way there i left my phone in a cab and was sort of tilted and hungry. so we get there, and i like girl talk alright but i'm not in love with being around that many hipsters to watch a dood push buttons, and i waited ~30 mins for him to start and he didn't so i left and got room service. delicious cheese steak with fries, perfect. short nap, fees and crazy mike come back drunk, high and insanely loud and i decide to ship myself home. 3 hours of insane speeding later, i'm home. other than the ac trip, i went out a few times drinking with friends while home, had a nice thanksgiving dinner with the family, another thanksgiving dinner with friends and a lot of time to conquer uncharted 2, get the new iphone, etc. very solid vacation. vegas plans are coming along nicely, i should be able to get out there in early january as anticipated.

i've actually seen this a few times before, but it was really good on bluray. interesting story, awesome colors and animation.

i feel like it's wrong to even give this one star.

spoilers below in white:
um wait so you're going to just give your kids to rando aliens because some crazy bitch wrote inf numbers on a page?

best game of all time imho. if you played uncharted: drake's fortune then you know the format, and they didn't change it much which is perfect. i still need to find all the treasures, get all the medals, etc. and explore multiplayer a bit more.

it's almost a lock that i'm moving to vegas in jan, which i'm really excited about; now it's just a matter of finding a nice place and saving mobnies. not a lot going on poker-wise, on pace for a good month in terms of both volume and results. however, i do have a lot of movie, series, and video game updates!

this one isn't as fresh in my mind as i watched it over a week ago. i really liked the da vinci code and this movie was obv in the same vein, but i can only find 3 stars though. the premise is basically tom hanks solving inf mysteries with an attractive foreign woman. good not great.

almost perfect! plenty of explosions, chases, action, witty dialogue, alpha maleness, and a beautiful mostly pouty faced costar without the ridic poker action from casino royale.

i'm not usually a comic book-to-movie fan boy, but i had heard good things and this movie didn't disappoint. i'm only giving it three stars because there's a brief scene where gambit depicts poker players as untrustworthy, cheating degens which prob costs me money, and time/sanity while fielding questions about poker.

holy mf shit, as fees would say, this movie was ridiculous. i'll stop saying everything else is dark because this movie was beyond dark. really well made and interesting.

spoilers below in white:
this movie made me feel weird and guilty about how fucked up the human race is; thank god we're all getting wiped out in 2012.

maybe i didn't give this a fair chance since i stopped playing before i finished but this game was quite awful. first, wtf you're a confederate soldier; i'm not okay with slavery. second, the game play wasn't great. third, the graphics weren't great.

although i'm giddy with excitement about my lost re-watch, season 2 is the best. inf more mysteries, inf more great character development.

spoilers below in white:
the mf hatch! this is where lost gets really interesting imo. it's quite strange re-watching lost and knowing everything that happens up until the end of season 5. sawyer is amazingly funny and deceptively helpful in this season. prob hurley's best season as well. michael is a bitch for squashing hurley's best chance of getting laid. this pretty much doesn't get answered but why the f are the others so weird. i mean <5% of what they do makes any sense. things i want explained please: 1. the lists, 2. the dirtiness/fake beards, etc. yeah they wanted the losties to think they were weaker than they were, but they were coming for walt regardless and i'm sure they knew this and prob went overboard with the fake camp, etc. 3. this one is broad, but why are you even on the island if you can leave? so the island heals you or w/e but still that can't offset the fact that you're super likely to die and there's no in-n-out burger there. prob enough of a rant, i'll provide more after i'm finished season 3.

okay, i'm basically a durrrr fanboy for life; unlike less loyal fanboys who jump ship when he gets stomped on, i'm staying by his side. i can't play poker right now, so i'm sweating him vs. isildur1 at 6 tables of 500/1k atm. i mean, sweet lotr reference i guess but i still have to root for durrrr.

i took a 1knl shot yesterday with good results which im really f excited about. i've still been playing quite a bit in the best games from 200nl-600nl as well, although i imagine i would play in any good 2knl game since it runs so infrequently.

i've been starting a lost rewatch in preparation for season 6 in jan, 2010. lost is the reason why otherwise amazing shows can only get 4 stars; absolutely the best tv series i've ever seen. i got into it quite late and burned through all the seasons on netflix very quickly, but recently got all the seasons on blu ray. but i digress, lost follows the survivors of a plane crash in the middle of the pacific ocean. i can't really say much without revealing spoilers, but it's inf interesting and very unique with excellent characters that are both flawed and perfectly loveable.

spoilers below in white:
season 1 is so intense! i dont have much to say spoilers-wise because i'm actually most of the way through season 2 at the moment. but i'll provide better spoilers when i'm done season 2.

season 2 was really good. afaik, season 3 is going on right now so i guess i'll catch up on that when i get my busto ass roomate to get an hd dvr box for me.

spoilers below in white:
so don sort of didn't listen to me, although that girl in california was awesome. also don gets caught sort of for throwing it to bobby who is ridic ugly imo. i was conflicted when betty finally gave in a cheated on don because i'm sort of on don's side but it's not like it's entirely unfair.

food, inc. is a documentary about where our food comes from and how the industry is a bit corrupt and controlling. usually i find these types of movies, etc to be really overly preachy but this was def interesting and makes one think about things differently.

october was a good month; i spent a lot of time playing and my results were fairly good. i'm really excited about november because moving to pittsburgh has worked perfectly for accomplishing my goal of focusing on getting better at poker and getting in more volume. i'm planning on staying here until the end of the year and then moving to a nice small condo in vegas. idk if that will change but i'm really keen on the idea at the moment.

yesterday was hilarious, i played for ~4 hours and then got so mad that i smashed my apple wireless mouse into the wall, obliterating it. this is the third one this year, standard? thankfully, my roommate is bringing me back two more. on a more important note:

i know i said that breaking bad was a bit strange but after finishing season 2 i've changed my mind, it is really good. very dark, but really good. it's the epitome of a show that you really need to watch both seasons of to love it. season 2 ends with an interesting cliff hanger as well for season 3 which is out sometime next year afaik.

spoilers below in white:
wtf! how can jane die right when you're starting to get excited about her and jesse reforming and restarting their life with all the meth mobnies?

mad men season 1! this series follows the life of don draper, an ad man in the early 60's, a time when men cheat, drink and smoke excessively on the reg. i can see why people love this show so much; it's historically accurate, filled with beautiful imagery, has interesting character development, has the perfect combination of drama and comedy and has january jones. season 1 was, like breaking bad season 2, quite dark imo. the season started off slowly but got very interesting towards the end; if you're losing interest, keep watching.

spoilers below in white:
okay, pete campbell is a detestable, slimy little mother fucker. i really want to see him get stomped at some point because he gets away with too much. and don, you need to calm down with your infidelities, you have an unbelievably hot wife and two kids. plus, the clothing store woman, yeah she's a 7/10. the artsy girl seems cool but ffs make up your mind, you're breaking january's heart. idk maybe this is 100% standard in the 60's.

taking hilariously bad shots at 600, but 400 and 200 are going well. my computer was being repaired for ~3 days so i'll need to catch up on my missed sessions before the end of the month. two limi-donks are going to most likely beat me in the rake race, so i'm prob going to get 3rd for $1,250. weak.

i just finished breaking bad season 1. an overqualified high school chemistry teacher is diagnosed with cancer and decides to cook meth with a former student of his to prevent leaving his family financially unstable. i really want to give this 4 stars, but i'm part of the way through season 2 and i'm not quite enthralled yet. it's certainly interesting, but just a bit too strange for me.

this game was perfect! interesting and unique storyline, excellent graphics, somewhat challenging, and fun.

4 stars is pretty seriously good for a movie; i'm quite picky. this movie is based on the true events of a plot hatched by germans to assassinate hitler. very well made and profound, highly recommended.

hey! i've decided to start a blog for various reasons (mostly to remember what i was doing 3 months from now). my name is vin and i recently moved to pittsburgh to live with my friend scott for a few months. my main goal while i'm here is to play a lot and of course induldge in infinite movies, video games, etc. i've been playing on absolute poker recently; i started at 100nl and now i'm playing 200-600nl. in addition, i've been playing 40+ hours a week, which is a first for me and it feels amazing! this blog may or may not stick but i've been meaning to do this for a while.

i'd ideally like this blog to contain movie/video game/tv series/music reviews. disclaimer: i'm not a critic! 5 stars = best, 1 star = worst

this movie was okay. the plot is simple yet unique: two friends decide to shoot a porno to make money to pay their rent and utility bills and throughout the process they realize that they're in love with each other. personally, i'm a bit tired of this type of movie but i can't deny it was mildly entertaining and elizabeth banks is extremely hot.

okay! now this one was better, but i was still disappointed because i had heard good things. a recently engaged guy realizes that he has no guy friends and embarks on a quest to find someone to be his best man. this one was unique enough to get 3 stars despite being relatively boring. throughout the movie paul rudd used hilarious phrases that make no sense; and although i felt awkward just watching this, it was fairly funny.

yes! extremely good cd. owen enough to feel familiar yet new enough to be interesting. "amnesia and me" is the best song on the cd imo. absolutely worth listening if you're an indie enthusiast.
