october, breaking bad season 2, mad men

october was a good month; i spent a lot of time playing and my results were fairly good. i'm really excited about november because moving to pittsburgh has worked perfectly for accomplishing my goal of focusing on getting better at poker and getting in more volume. i'm planning on staying here until the end of the year and then moving to a nice small condo in vegas. idk if that will change but i'm really keen on the idea at the moment.

yesterday was hilarious, i played for ~4 hours and then got so mad that i smashed my apple wireless mouse into the wall, obliterating it. this is the third one this year, standard? thankfully, my roommate is bringing me back two more. on a more important note:

i know i said that breaking bad was a bit strange but after finishing season 2 i've changed my mind, it is really good. very dark, but really good. it's the epitome of a show that you really need to watch both seasons of to love it. season 2 ends with an interesting cliff hanger as well for season 3 which is out sometime next year afaik.

spoilers below in white:
wtf! how can jane die right when you're starting to get excited about her and jesse reforming and restarting their life with all the meth mobnies?

mad men season 1! this series follows the life of don draper, an ad man in the early 60's, a time when men cheat, drink and smoke excessively on the reg. i can see why people love this show so much; it's historically accurate, filled with beautiful imagery, has interesting character development, has the perfect combination of drama and comedy and has january jones. season 1 was, like breaking bad season 2, quite dark imo. the season started off slowly but got very interesting towards the end; if you're losing interest, keep watching.

spoilers below in white:
okay, pete campbell is a detestable, slimy little mother fucker. i really want to see him get stomped at some point because he gets away with too much. and don, you need to calm down with your infidelities, you have an unbelievably hot wife and two kids. plus, the clothing store woman, yeah she's a 7/10. the artsy girl seems cool but ffs make up your mind, you're breaking january's heart. idk maybe this is 100% standard in the 60's.

wow, rachel menken was a 10/10. i love how when i search for "rachel menken" the first thing that pops up is 2p2's "the lounge". anyway, keep watching Mad Men, I just finished S2. about your spoiler:
Yeah, Pete Campbell is a little bitch. but he is human. he has some qualities. everyone in the show is flawed. I mean, Don Draper is the man, but he has so many negatives - lack of communication, infidelity, coldness, etc. Regardless as an audience you sympathize with his affairs only because although Betty is unbelievably hot, she just offers nothing. Like a blank slate.

9 episodes into season 2; i'm really excited about what's going on right now! maybe i'm being overly picky with my ratings, i guess i could find an 8 for rach. pete has redeemed himself slightly and i agree that almost everyone, except peggy who's kindness is inf endearing, is flawed; but wtf at him "telling" on don. also i think betty's faithfulness is her best quality or more so her inherent ability to do the right thing. sort of hard to analyze since we're so out of touch with how shit went down in the 60's.
