After my last blog, I had some people tell me to get off the ledge. I can assure you all that was never the case, I just have a flare for the dramatic and a tendency to write blogs when I'm annoyed by something.
That isn't the case today, as I'm wrapping up another Summer in desert on a high note. I'm pretty happy with the way life has been going; although I'm a stickler for perfection and could certainly be more pleased with my diet, poker work ethic, and social life. I'm optimistic for the future. After a few vacations, I plan on getting on the midstakes PLO grind. I look forward to new challenges when NLHE isn't running. A couple other things have me excited as well that I can't talk about just yet. I had another chance to check out the NBA Summer League today. It was fun to watch and got me excited to do some player evaluation one day in the basketball world. I haven't decided how I'm going to go about doing this just yet, but it's almost certainly in my future. Tonight we went to see Inception. It seems like it's one of the most 'hyped' movies in quite some time and it has the pedigree to be a blockbuster. I was pleased with it because it was interesting and kept me entertained. A movie like that seems destined to alienate its' audience by trying too hard (FPS for movies!), but I think it does a reasonable job of relating to a wide array of movie-goers. Most importantly, I'm concentrating on living my life actively. I spend (spent) too much time just browsing the internet, waiting for something interesting to happen. The revelation that I had about this was that I was essentially waiting to read something that happened in someone else's life. Why though? I'm a happenin' guy, I can make things happen, I'm a mover and shaker myself. My goal is just to do something more often. Take people up on their offer to go out more often, be productive and grind Leggo stuff, workout or play sports, even grab a book to read. There's a lotta shit to do in life and (relatively speaking) not a lot of time to do it. You either get busy livin' or get busy dyin'.
