Stories and Adventures of an Implied Millionaire
Poker
Poker posts and stories
I have no idea when or if I'll play online poker again. Of course I'm a huge favorite to play again, possibly even a candidate to move out of the country to play, but with the uncertainty in the future I think I'd post all of my results for the last 6 months, since I turned 24.
It's been so long since I posted results, but I was playing a variety of games-- I had no idea I played so little 25-50 though. I would have guessed quite a bit more, but I haven't had a lot online in the last year or so-- it never seemed like a good idea to put more money online, so if I was low, I just played 10-20 (or midstakes PLO). Anyway, the graph is a little funnier.. maybe I'll show that next blog. Sucks I wasn't able to grind more, I'm so lazy, and now I've got a reason to be lazy!

It's annoying when you have a lot of windows open on your computer and one of them starts playing an ad and you can't find it. I usually just mute my computer instead of looking through a million tabs in a million windows, most of them which are sports related so the content of the ad doesn't lead me to anywhere in particular.
Striped sheets are one of the great inventions. When you're putting the sheets on the bed, you can always tell which way is vertical.
Trail mix is an excellent mix of sweet and salty. Best enjoyed in moderation though.
I owned my roommate with a prank yesterday. It's genius, harmless, and excellent. I can't take credit for it, but it's a little hard to have a truly unique idea for a prank with all the stuff that's been done.
Rubber band (or tape) the handle on the spray nozzle on the sink and point it at the front of the sink. Person you're pranking goes to turn on the faucet and WABLAM, they get all wet, it's hilarious, everyone is joyous. Warning: do not forget that you've set this prank up and accidentally spray yourself. I did not do this, but I'm told it's an easy mistake to make.
Third part of my 25-50 heads up series up. It's great.
I wrote a cool article about Marc Gasol the other day for PPP. If you don't care about Marc Gasol, the Grizzles, the NBA, or giant Spanish people-- well, you might not care to read it.
I started watching a little more stand up comedy lately, I don't know why, I've just been in the mood. Louis CK has been my go to, if you don't know a lot about him, start with this, and then listen to everything related to that video. You probably won't regret it (unless you need the next 30 minutes of your life, for while I should apologize in advance for).

I saw a guy today begging for money on the corner of the street with a cardboard sign that talking about how he was homeless and would accept any money a passerby could spare. He then took a cell phone out of his pocket and made a call.
I had other stuff to write but I'm getting quite a bit of writer's block right now so I'll make this one of the shortest blogs of all time!

This weekend I did a Leggocast on Black Friday. I first interviewed two Leggo coaches (Harangutang and RikaKazak) to get two different perspectives on how the new law enforcement affects the games they're playing. Then I was lucky enough to get the foremost authority on Black Friday on the show-- Carol the Lawyer. We ran through a bunch of things, but I'll bullet them quickly in case you are curious about any of them specifically:
1. A synopsis of the indictments.
2. Players getting their money back.
3. Sites that are available to U.S. players currently and the risks involved with them.
4. How this step affects the future regulation of online poker in the States.
5. Her thoughts on how the issue would eventually resolve.
If you are interested in anything concerning Black Friday, give this 'cast a listen. If you have questions, ask them in the Leggocast forum and I may be able to get Carol the Lawyer to address them. I know that no matter what walk of poker you were in, the new laws somehow impacted your job or hobby (or someone you know's job or hobby).
I'm not quite sure what to think about the Osama thing. He's dead, great. I can't really rally around everyone screaming "USA!" at the top of their lungs. It took us 10 years and countless resources to catch the guy, I can't imagine us thinking that we "won" in this instance. I know, it's a symbol for the country to rally around, whatever that means (really? takes something like this to get everyone fired up and loving each other?). I'm glad we got him, but it'll be sad that many people credit Obama for this. I like Obama, this is just credit where credit isn't due.
My ankle is healing up just fine, it's been 15 days and I'm walking around alright, only having pain when I really stress it, I'll probably start doing some rehab stuff to limit scar tissue sometime this week-- thanks for asking.

My watch is in the shop to be repaired, and I realized that I'd grown accustomed to looking at my watch a few times a day, so I decided to get a new watch.
Shablam:
Enter the Casio Illuminator. Lightweight. Stylish. Stopwatch. Press a button, it lights up. Water resistant up to 30 Meters. I'm not sure why I would find myself 30 Meters deep, but if I did, I'd probably have a lot worse problems than worrying about what time it is.
$29.95.
Times are tough, I'm unemployed!
I just put up a pretty sweet video of me playing 25-50 HU. I've got a little extra time nowadays and it might be a while before I play high stakes online poker again, so I might as well put a little extra effort towards videos!
There will be a new Leggocast about Black Friday in the next week or two: It'll feature a lawyer's recap of the charges and some predictions on how things could shake out, a recap on what Leggo pros are doing, and an update on how the games have changed on all sites. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like us to cover, I just want to get as much information as possible out to poker players who frequent this site. Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

I think after last Friday there are a lot of questions and not a lot of answers. As expected, there has been a lot of panic from, it seems, just about everyone but me.
I wrote a personal journal with my thoughts on Friday. No matter what the future holds, that will have an impact on all of our lives. I'm interested in chronicling my thoughts on days that are important in my life in hopes of learning from those days in the future. Writing things down in hopes of teaching something to future Aaron sounds peachy, I just hope that future Aaron uses the information!
I have set myself up for a day like this to happen. I've always been a guy who believes in backup plans, so I never wanted to have too much money online. I guess I get that from my father-- I like tangible things. I had been playing a fair bit of poker (for me, anyway), but I'm sure I'll find projects to fill my free time. I don't feel bad for guys like me or high stakes players who didn't have the foresight to cash out a good amount of money, but I do feel bad for guys who are midstakes players who had a bright future. Still, I think everyone has options-- some people within the poker community (which, still exists in the form of Live Tournaments and whatnot), and some in the stock market or business. Some people will be able to get a VPN, some will turn to live poker. Most people have a lot of options, I urge everyone to take some time to think about how this will effect their lives.
Still, I don't think we should panic. A lot of people smarter than me seem to think that our money is pretty safe. I have absolutely no basis for this argument, but I see no reason not to be optimistic. My gut is that the DOJ has seized enough money from FTP/PS to not want to deal with people's funds. It'll be interesting to see how things shake out, and the entire situation is a big sweat for all players who have a future in online poker. It seems likely that poker will come back regulated in some way, but I don't think online poker as we knew it 5 days ago will ever exist again. Maybe it's the best for the future, only time will tell.
As far as Leggo goes, I expect a few small changes: We will probably lose a few US players who elect not to explore other online sites or play live poker. We're in the process of strengthening our tournament team, so I'm hopeful that everyone who is interested in playing live (or online) tournaments will stick around for a while and check that out. Our US-based choices won't be able to make live recorded videos, but many of them have pre-recorded sessions (as I do). We'll continue to produce power point, hand history review, and directed learning videos. It's nearly business as usual, and we plan on continuing to serve anyone who is interested in learning how to play poker.
In even sadder news, I sprained my ankle playing basketball. So, after taking online poker away, I'm going to be without the ~15 hours a week I spend working out and playing basketball. Man, I hate sports injuries. It tilts me so hard and I know that my ankles are only going to get worse as I get older. I guess I'm going to be that old guy with braces and splints on every part of my body. Fuck it, as long as my right elbow and wrist are good, pass me the ball.

Does anyone brush their teeth in the shower? I've got a few friends who swear that not only is it normal, it's preferable to brushing in the sink. They also say that it's environment friendly because you're saving water. I have many issues with this. The first issue is that the water in my shower is hot, and it seems incredibly terrible to brush my teeth with hot water. Hot water and mint-- yuck. The second issue I have is with the time-saving/environmental aspect. I call BS. If you take a shower for X amount of time, then you need the shower to be running for X + Y amount of time (where Y is the amount of time it takes you to brush your teeth, and Y should be equal to the amount of time it would take you to brush your teeth in the sink).
Does anyone wait to take a shower after they workout because they're afraid they'll keep sweating? Apparently some people think that you keep sweating, and I've got one friend, we'll call him Shark, who swears that if he showers 10 minutes after he works out, the shower "won't take" and he'll have to shower again. Now Shark is particularly out of shape, so maybe he continues to sweat for 20 minutes after he does exercise?! I don't really understand, I usually run to the shower when I get home and I've never continued sweating...
Personally, I've been all over the place lately. Sometimes I'm playing poker, sometimes I'm not. I have been meaning to put some results in my blog for quite a while, but I want to get a bigger sample size (I'm shooting for 100k hands, maybe since the new year or my birthday or even the last calendar year). I'm doing more traveling though in the near future, and don't expect to get much volume in April until the last week or two of the month. Cheers!

For the last several weeks I've been working on a project with Rob and Assani Fisher called pointsperpossession.com. The site is a collection of basketball artcles/blogs that, at times, will not correlate with popular opinion (or the opinion of the media). Think of it as a Freakonomics for basketball. Among the topics we're sure to discuss: why players that the media (and you) think are good aren't actually good, why coaches are making embarrassing end of game errors and the math behind those errors, why vodka and cranberries are awesome.
The site will primarily focus on the NBA, but with the overlap of March Madness and the implications on the NBA draft, we've been spending a lot of time talking about college basketball. I recently wrote a preview of the Final Four, which I can confirm is only slightly subjective.
There are three other articles which are currently on the site:
Harmful Players: Andrea Bargnani
How I'll remember Gilbert Arenas
1991 NBA Finals, Game 1
It's easy to sign up for free and leave a comment about an article. The site still has some kinks we're working out, so we appreciate all the feedback you can give. We also do a podcast ~weekly, here's a link.
We'd also really appreciate it if you liked us on facebook and followed us on Twitter, here are some links to social media, thanks!
