So, the series has been the series so far. It's the WSOP, so I'm guaranteed to drop like $100k on tournaments and staking. I've learned a little bit from my mistakes last year, and I've been more prudent about the pieces I get and the prices I get them at, as well as the tournaments I play myself-- some of them I just don't play well. Foruntunately I'm going to avoid playing the ones that I might be tempted to play poorly in. I'm very happy with my performance thus far in the events I've played. I've stuck with purely high stakes NLHE events and shorthanded stuff, and I've got the $5k 6m and the Main Event left on my plate. Here's to running good or at least getting my first ever live cash.
Speaking of running good and cashing in everything he plays, Mr. Luckychewy decided that it was not enough to cash in 3 events this series, and he should add a final table to the resume. So he went and final tabled the $5k shootout, which I lost in 7th place at my first table, despite doubling up on the very first hand of the entire tournament with set over set. You can sweat him
here on Leggo, or at Pokernews, or live at the Rio with me and my people. I will be with a bunch of drunkards more than likely. Hopefully he binks it, he is the best tournament player in the world, and if he keeps running like he is, he is destined to win a lot.
Speaking of Mr. Luckychewy and his cashes, two randomly funny anecdotes. The night before the $10k WSOP HU, we are talking about how soft the field is going to be. My buddy who is a midstakes player is playing in the tournament, and we're just talking about who his best draw would be. We (me and chewy) decide that for sure John Duthie is the softest spot in the field. As fate would have it, he draws John Duthie and loses with AK suited to Duthie's AA. Then, a few rounds later, Chewy loses to Duthie in the first match in the money! Zing! We are clearly the donks, and they both said Duthie played erratic and weird but not nearly as bad as they assumed he would. Then, last night before his second table, Chewy was reading off a list of the winners. He said something about David "the Dragon" Pham and predicted their paths would cross in the tournament. Fast forward 18 hours and Chewy beat the Dragon heads up after sucking out on him with JJ > KK. Awesome.
Speaking of things that are awesome, we are having a Leggo party on July 2nd at a pretty sick house just south of the strip. It should be a convenient 5 or 10 minute cab for anyone staying on or near the strip. The house will be complete with everything we could possibly want to keep us entertained for an evening, or a night, or a morning.
Here's a link to the post about it and if you have any questions just PM or email Probability, he'd be more than happy to help.
That's it for now,
I have to get some rest before railing Chewy tomorrow.
That's what she said.
Zing!
