I busted the main event yesterday (day 4) during the last level. I had about 360,000 and raised the button to 18k at 3k/6k/1k with j6o the bb who had about 800k called. The flop was T98r he checked I bet 26k he made it 75k I called. I considered moving in here and in hindsight it may be the best play I think but I thought he would check his bluff hands a lot unimproved on the turn and really wasn't sure how wide he was raising this flop. I called. The turn was the Qd putting two diamonds up. He overbet shoves (probably didn't realise I had more then pot left because of the way I was stacking my chips) I call and he has A2dd for a bare flushdraw. The river was the 5d and I'm out.

I played pretty well and it always sucks losing pots for a quarter million in equity but that's big buyin tournaments for ya.

Luckily though I busted just on time to catch Tom before he gave my ticket away to UFC 100. I had been dying to see those fights especially the GSP Alves fight and we had amazing seats in the third row on the floor. I've never been that close at any event like that and it was a real thrill, a lot better then I had thought it would be, plus GSP shippppppped it. Afterwords we went to xs and got a couple tables for us and a bunch of other people who were at the fight and partied it up.

I had 70% of one guy who min-cashed like me in the main and I have 16.6% of another guy who is currently top 5 in chips so I still have a bit of a sweat in this one, gogogogogogogogogo.

I'm heading to Vegas for the summer today. WOOHOO!!

We have some baller accommodations set up and it should be a really amazing summer. I'm playing pretty much all the big buyin events that are NLHE and PLO starting with the 40k event. Hopefully they will get a decent sized field for that one so that when I win event 1 it's for lots of monies.

Who else is gonna be there? Who's excited?

All this partying is getting to me, I think I am ACTUALLY going to take a day off today! I have been saying that everyday for the past week though and every night something too good to pass up comes up and next thing I know the suns coming up and it's time to stumble home.

Two weeks ago I headed down to Vegas to meet Tom. He wanted to go on vacation to Cabo or something similar and that sounded like a good idea so without any plans in place I just headed down and figured we could work it out. Tom texted Phil Ivey to ask where the place to stay in Cabo was and Ivey replied, "Cabo, I love Cabo let's all go" so next thing I know it's Friday and we are all on a private plane on the way to Cabo.

The house we stayed at was amazing. I'm not sure what's cool to put up here in terms of pictures so I'll wait until the Life of Ivey stuff comes out that we did and go from there. So you have to use your imagination for now.

After that we went back to Vegas and partied it up for the weekend going to XS one night and the Bank the other night. Cabo was beautiful and relaxing and got a little crazy going out during spring break but it has nothing on the nightlife in Vegas.

Tom and I took the Monday night redeye to New York on Virgin. This airline is hands down better then any other commercial flight I have been on. Having the internet on board is fantastic. Or it would be if I didn't lose 25k on the flight, lol. I finally got a chance last night to check out Phil Galfonds New York Pad. The space is great and it's going to look amazing when all the construction is finished later this year (and the slide is put in!). He was having a bit of a party so I got to meet a bunch of people and hang out with him and Mikey which was nice because I missed both of those guys a lot.

If you've never read Mikey's blog it is the best on the internet http://www.bluefirepoker.com/blog.aspx?blogid=44

So now I'm sitting in Hotel Room in Times Square. We are heading to Boston later tonight and have great tickets for the East regionals on Thursday and Saturday. Pitt vs Xavier and Duke vs Villanova on Thursday and the winners of those games on Saturday. I'm really excited for these games. Also it's my Birthday tomorrow so things might get crazy. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I am playing against Magic Ninja first. He is easily one of the toughest players in the field so I am anticipating a super tough match up. We are scheduled to start in 20 minutes @ 4:45est. You can watch on Poker Stars by searching either of our names (Apathy123 on stars) we will be playing three $5 no blind increase 200bb SNG tables and whoever wins two takes it.

The thread with more information and the brackets is here: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/56...v-game-425537/

I also recently finished a video for leggo. I think it turned out great and I hope you all like it. Please let me know what you think when you get a chance to check it out.

It just started early this morning (for those in N.A.) as I'm sure most of you know. I do have a bias on who I want to win this one but I will never the less go on record saying I predict durrrr to decisively beat Patrik when this is all over. I think it will go the 50k hands though, even if Tom gets up 30-40 BIs or so I can't imagine Patrik would quit. Ivey will easily be Tom's toughest opponent in my opinion so I think it's smart to leave him for last and hope the other matches go according to plan and put the fear into him I'm going to be a huge railbird while this is going on for sure.

In my life, my gf went to London for the week for her reading week vacation to visit some friends and I'm back in Toronto for the next couple months which will be the longest I've been home for consecutively in a while. I'm spending this week getting back into playing some hands, more 6 max NLHE then I've been playing lately and less HUPLO and stuff like that, trying to mix it up. Other then that just trying to deal with all the administrative life/Toronto stuff that seems to pile up every time I come back.

Just read about this crazy chimp story that you guys need to think about:

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/02/17/chi...ack/index.html

(watch the video on there too)

Hope everything is good with all of you

Last week I headed out to Vegas to see some friends and party it up for the UFC fights and the Superbowl.

On Friday we all partied it up and ended up at the rhino to do some talent scouting and recruiting for the party on Sunday. The mission was a stunning success and we filled out the party roster (more details on this in the linked TR)

For UFC we went to Raptors house and watched all the fights in his sweet ass movie theater. I'm a big GSP fan and he shipped it so that was awesome.

Sunday was complete madness, that's all I can say about it. I'm not sure I can think of a better house party I have been to. This trip report pretty much speaks for itself...

There's a story I always love to tell about the Shark tank at Atlantis. I won't repost it here as it was up on shipitholla.com for a couple years but the very brief cliff notes are: Durrr (Tom) and I paid a guy 5k to jump into a tank full of shark at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas a few years ago.

No matter how awesome my retelling may be, whenever I impart that story on an innocent soul they quietly judge me. They laugh of course and think the story is amazing and crazy and awesome, but, having the curse of the poker player... I see that glimmer of 'what if' judgment in their eyes.

This year that was put to rest.

I went to the Bahamas about a week before the PCA this year to get out of the cold and enjoy a Caribbean New Years with Tom, Gabe (gp333), Alex(ofishstix), Jimmie (pinkbunnythatgetsawayoften) and some others before the girlfirend (just kidding) and all the poker players (hmm.. ok jk) got there. New Years and the rest of the week is a story in itself but I don't want to get too off track.

The first night we all got together there was talk immediately of the tank. Stories were retold and bets and dares were thrown out. Nothing was quite accepted but after dinner at Nobu we went out to see the highly discussed beast.

Staring into the tank filled with sharks that I have thought so much about over the years I had the overwhelming urge to jump in. I can't exactly explain why... maybe the sake? maybe that look in the listeners eyes the last months and years, or maybe just because it's awesome... but the funniest thing happened right as everyone was looking at the sharks and these thoughts are running through my head... Tom quietly says, we need to just do this, both of us, now. I didn't reply, just threw my shoes off and stepped up on to the pedestal as Tom went around to the other one. I quickly surveyed the water for sharks and jumped.

I don't know if it was the excitement or the sake but i didn't plan my descent very well. It was the highest goal in my mind to touch the bottom and I only made it half way or so and was forced to swim down the rest of the head first. I grabbed the sandy bottom with my hand and shot up as fast as I could, pulling myself out at the top. I only paused for a minute to check out a passing reef shark no doubt trying to determine the reason for the commotion.

My nose was filled with seawater but I was otherwise unscathed. Maybe the weirdest thing about it all was that I was at no time scared or nervous about it in any way. I have since had a bad dream or two but at the time I felt fairly invincible.

The best part? Tom didn't hit bottom so I think someeeeeeebody might have to go in again next year...

In tournament news I made day 2 of the PCA and lost Ak to KQ for lots of chips.
last week I final tabled the high roller sunday event on Poker Stars.
Yesterday (Sunday) I won the Heads up tournament on Poker Stars. Even though I only play MTTs about two days a month I have been owning them pretty bad, I'm thinking of adding in a few more regularly.

Holla

finished day 1 with almost 120k chips, we started with 45k and didnt lose many players so its a pretty big stack, Im happy

Just got back from a super hilarious dinner with a bunch of people so Im in a great mood, hopefully Ill be able to get some good sleep.

I won a 100 bucks off Roy winston on some over under prop bet at the table today but the real funny story was this hand involving Chainsaw where he called river on a AK522 board and almost mucked his ace when he was shown A-J by JC Tran before some older guy at the table told him any ace was a chop... needless to say JC was noooot happy

I've been having a great time in Vegas so far. I flew in late friday night and was greeted by Irieguy, Alan Sass and a whole bunch of other friends when I arrived at the house, the champagne was on ice and everyone was in full party mode. Irieguy and I ended up staying all night partying including various degen gambling and taking a trip to redrock to book a bet on the de la hoya fight that was on Saturday night.

We didn't feel like sleeping so around 8 or 9am we woke up Alan and Justin and convinced them to come play 9 holes with us. I haven't golfed in a couple years so I was pretty excited. We grabbed a ton of beers and whiskey, set up some bets for the course and took off.

I have no idea how I did, I do know Irie only made it through 6.5 holes and I made it through 8 before being incapable of playing so I think I was the winner. Justin and Alan won all the skins though.

That night we had a bunch of people over to watch the fight. De la hoya got stomped and I lost about 4k.

I went over to Raptor's house which i hadn't seen yet and watched the Dark Knight on Monday night on his 110inch projection screen. The theatre room is a sweet ass setup with lazy boys and the whole deal. The whole house looked pretty good for the short amount of time he's had to really put stuff in it.

Tuesday night I went over to the Bellagio and met up with Chuddo for some drinks. We ran into Brian Rast and Andrew Robl and talked to them for a bit. Fix was closed for some Christmas party so Andrew drove Chuddo and I over to T.I so we could drink some sake at Social House. Sadly it was also closed! Vegas is deaaaaaaaaaaddddd right now. Further evidence: They were spreading 10 dollar craps and 5 dollar BJ at the BELLAGIO! I don't think I've ever seen that at nightime there before, although it was a tuesday.

Chuddo used this to elaborate on his favorite topic about how America is going busto and I should buy gold and lots of guns, over drinks at some Mexican place in T.I that we decided on. While there I got a call from a few people who were heading to the Rhino so we decided that we would go over to the Wynn, catch up with our friends Nate and Leah there and then maybe head over there.

At the Wynn Chud and I played some WPT all in holdem and had a few drinks. We decided it was time to go meet up with Nate and Leah when I managed to spill two drinks all over the table trying to bet Chud's bonus action.

The four of us hung out around the Wynn and pretty much just got messed up. We were all having so much fun that by the time I couldn't drink anymore it was 630am so I headed for home instead of the Rhino. I'm sure I missed out meeting some nice single moms but you can't do everything in one night.

---------

Today I am going to play in the 5k Bellagio event. I ended up getting up at 6am so hopefully I'll be able to make it through to the end of the day without falling asleep at the table. I'm excited to play and I think if nothing else today will be a great warm-up for the 15k main event that starts on the weekend. I am on a pretty insane hot streak in live tournaments with my last 6 events including a second place in the 10k PLO WSOP a cash in the Bellagio 15k event and a 4th place finish in the London High Roller, so I'm looking to keep that up today!
