From recently listening to many podcasts about poker I always find one thing odd when a star player is being interviewed...
The question usually comes up as "who do you talk about poker with"
I find it weird because i do not actually talk poker with anyone:O, I have a group of friends that play home games with but only 3 in that group have a hunger to just keep learning :O:O myself included.
The 3 of us read as much as we can, watch as much as we can, and of course play as much as we can... but we never seem to talk about the game at a deeper level...
We sometimes say what we would have done in situations that arise during the game, or talk about the latest poker shows we have seen. It has never been asked what if the 9 came on the turn instead of a 10, or what if he checked into you on the river with his flush to see if you would bet instead of checking to you...
These are tame examples i know...
But in the home game i play one player believes "the tens come out more" or one of the luck box's that plays any two believes that if he plays the lower valued cards everyone else is only going to be playin hands wit an Ace threw to 10. So he has the best chance of making a pair :/
I really dont think its +ev to discuss poker with them :P
The 2 good players and I seem to just be in competition with each other. So maybe since we just try and beat each other when we get the chance, we hurt each other in the long run because of the long term value of knowledge when we would gain.
