According to Yahoo! Finance (Via CNNMoney.com), Groupe Bernard Tapie has signed a deal to purchase Full Tilt Poker.

According to the article, "GBT has agreed to acquire Full Tilt Poker for $80 million, in a deal that was brokered by the U.S. Department of Justice."

When it comes to payouts:

"As part of the deal, the French firm will take responsibility for the burned players outside the U.S., while the Department of Justice will facilitate paybacks to the American gamblers who lost about $150 million. American players will have to apply to the DOJ for compensation."

It appears as though CNNMoney.com jumped the gun on reporting the story, as this appears as the top of the page right now:

"THIS STORY IS UNDER EMBARGO UNTIL ERICA GETS THE CLEAR FROM THE LAWYER AT GROUPE BERNARD TAPIE"

The story has since been pulled from CNNMoney.com but remains on Yahoo! Finance.

I'm guessing that Groupe Bernard Tapie will confirm the deal shortly.

There are obviously many, many questions that still need to be answered. We'll be updating this page as we hear more.

Edit: confirmed the deal with Jeff Ifrah:

"Hi Jeff

I was just wondering if you could confirm the $80 million GBT/Full Tilt Poker deal?"

His response:

"Yes"

Edit #2: According to Pokernews.com, current FTP directors will not be able to hold shares in the new company

Edit #3: The deal still needs to be voted on by FTP's shareholders. A 2/3rds majority vote is needed

and it was fun. i have never been this mentally tired after so little time. i played 36 minutes and used my brain to its maximum capacity. i worked all day and was a little tired anyway but this was super draining but i won money and that is always fun. i ran QJ into QQ on a flop of QJ4 for a stack and still made two.
i was very pleased with what we went over last night and cant wait for next monday. good stuff



34/30 4 tabling! i have never done this before. main thing i have to remember is THEY ARE NOT PLAYING LIKE THIS AND I NEED TO FOLD TO THEIR AGGRESSIVENESS!! most of the time if im 3betting alot i start thinkin everyone is doing it and i call 3bets way too light.

another disgusting month like this and i will have to drop to 25nl. unbelievable. once again my poker dreams feel all crushed.

the 4 million guarantee turned out disappointing. i didnt win

made silver in the iron man challenge again. 7 months in a row. i think its good for me to play just a little every night and going for this every month lets me do that.

won first place in our little basketball league. that was kool.

watched pandorum with dennis quaid it was better then i expected. 4/5. and if youve never seen hot rod with adam sandberg its worth a rental too.

this month is off to a good start. up 2 bi.

had about $170 in ********. lost that much playing stupid tournaments for the double guarantees week.

cleared my $250 in year end bonus.

made silver in the iron man challenge.

bought a 32gb ipod touch with iron man medals+full tilt points. gonna sell it for money to buy my wife a camera. so now that i think about it i woulda had 250 in ******** but that ipod set me back 80
shes gonna love the camera so i dont care one bit. shell probably overload Facebook with pictures.

played and beat mass effect 2. amazing game. knights of the old republic was the best rpg ever and this was second. awesome awesome game.

continued crushing fools in MW2.

won both of are basketball games. 5 more to go.

next month i plan on playing 2 tables of 50 nl. including zero tables of rush poker. because it sux and i cant ajust to getting 3bet everytime i open. its me who sucks actually.

overall the year was good. but the last two months have been horrible as far as cash games go. lost 1500 at 50nl. so that adds up to another losing year at cash. i won a few thousand in various tourneys. plus rake. i ended up on the year.

my sooners finished with a couple nice wins but they too had a lousy year.

i think my problem is i dont handle losing a few pots without going tiltmonkeycrazy. and i dont put nearly enough hours away from the table. i feel i get better very slowly but surely.
another nice tourney score and ill get some coaching and learn how to make a little money.

im not greedy i just want to beat 100nl 6max for little extra money a month. make an extra payment on my house.
if anyone wants to coach me for a certain % of my winnings i could agree to something. make a more then fair offer for your self and ill prolly accept. im a good worker if someone tells me what to do.
either way im gonna start playing 2 tables of 50nl. and try and win something this year. but if a couple thousand through tourneys is all that lies ahead this year so be it.
