January 27th, Catching up Loose-Ends

I guess I'll just scroll backwards. I haven't done a TON the past 3 weeks, but I probably should've updated the blog once or twice! It's amazing how things slip.

Jan 26th: Had my "A" league IM game. The season finally resumed after winter break. We lost by 7, 48-41 I think? We didn't have our 2 bigs (Shane, a 2p2er, and a nice kid named Will) so we were way undersized. They had 3 competent bigs. I played OK, although I aggravated my left ankle.

Jan 25th: Had my "B" league IM game. Once again season is resuming. This is a different team then above (obviously), and we had no subs. Played on the nice court as well... We were up against a team of all asians who had no size. (Tallest guy maybe 5'10?) First half we were up 27-9, 25-2 at one point. I was getting in the lane and it was fun. However, we got incredibly tired, (they had a bunch of subs) and in the 2nd half they were pressing/running hard/fouling a bunch. We only scored 6 pts (eek!) but still won, 33-29 IIRC.

"The weekend," Jan 23/24. I don't recall doing anything specific. Did some work on my new series coming out, which is a multi part power point presentation. Played with my kitties. (Will get to that shortly!) Played rush poker. Have to say, it tilts me so hard. I think I'm done w/ Rush after only a few hundred hands.

Jan 22nd: Went to the Cs/Trailblazers game! Had courtside tickets. (Technically "floor") Had a pretty sweet deal (they were face value)... Game went to OT. Was just a very fun game. From a different perspective, it's worrisome it took us until OT to beat a Trailblazers team sans Roy/Oden/Pryzbilla/Batum, but we at least did get the victory. 2 pics: (We were right behind the press box)

My apologies for terrible quality; blackberry cameras are weak.

Jan 21st: I'm on a CAC (Cambridge Athletic Club) team w/ leggo member TheDriver. They are all pretty good and I think our team is quite talented... It's a 4on4 wall ball league. Pretty cool stuff. Anyway, we won our 2nd game 82-64.

Jan 20th: Played some poker! Had a solid session, but there was 1 interesting hand that I'm proud of/enjoyed, so I figured I'd share it. I'm going to hide the identities of the people involved I suppose, but will include some descriptions.

It's a live 10/25 game, at this point we were about 7 handed. 2 people limp in front of me, (only 1 fold) and I have TT OTB. I made it 150. I had about 15k, the original limper was sitting on about 12k and plays loose and awful, the 2nd limper who had about 8k? is a tiny bit tighter and plays more fit-or-fold/isn't overly paranoid. Both blinds called; the sb is tight aggressive and very solid and had about 13k, the BB is not as tight or aggressive then the SB but also very solid. He had at least 10k I believe, but did not cover me. So, 5 way pot already 750 in there.

Flop came Q 8 4 w/ 2 spades, I had black tens. It was checked to me and I quickly checked it back. Turn came a 6c, putting a bdoor fd. SB led out 750, BB called, and UTG limper called. Heh. I made it 3,330. Everyone folded. Yay!!! Ok, now that I write it down, sounds boring. But I was happy about it since I found out later SB folded AQ and BB folded QJ. (As I sorta thought they would)

I think it works since I rule out BB or UTG from ever having a hand that can stomach playing for stacks. UTG is loose enough he could just call twice with any draw, and I can showdown my tens to win vs him... I only need to worry about the SB, but I doubt he'd play 75 in that spot. He'd lead out a much larger range then just a set (heh), so it's basically risking the 3.3k to win 3k.

Jan 19th on down: A lot of it is a blur. But, my mom visited me the long MLK weekend, so 17th/18th. We went to the french restaurant at the end of my street (Chez Henri) which is fantastic. Although I burned my mouth on french onion soup. (Took a week to feel better, hate that - literally finally isn't burnt now) We did a fair amount of shopping. I ended up watching "500 days of Summer" with her... Although it's a chick flick, it honestly was a great movie. (It's why I'm using Octopus's Garden as the song for this blog, actually) Generally we fight quite a bit, but the visit (2 days) was enjoyable. I could probably provide more details had I actually written a blog earlier,

On the 14th had the 1st CAC game, we won something ridiculous like 91-31.

And... earlier that day... Got 2 kittens! Well, a kitten and a cat. They didn't get along at first but now they do. I have another 48 minutes to decide if I want to keep the 2nd one; she's incredibly cute (this is the 6month kitten) but she's kinda a brat. And 2 cats is a huge responsibility, just 1 is a lot easier. But anyway, the white one is the kitten, named her Bell. (After: Raja Bell, Stringer Bell, Bell from Beauty & the Beast; take your pick, they all work) The calico is the cat, 5 years, named her Evy. (No good reason, just thought it fit)

she sleeps more then me!

Had to post that because that song has been stuck in my mind. I think that's about it... I'm looking for a WSOP house (can't believe that's already happening), planning a LAPC trip, and probably will start 2 new group coaching soon. (As my current ones end beginning of March) Later all!

195$. Pretty reasonable. On stubhub or wherever with the upcharge/etc those seats are a great bit more. Not worth it for more; for 200, def.

Keep both. Trust me. They will keep each other company when you are grinding instead of jumping on your desk and giving you attitude because they are bored (I have 2 cats)
