Ok! I was asleep for a while, was exhausted. Only played 4 levels (not 5) but made it to Day 2a. Before all that though, lets rewind slightly:
July 2nd was the leggoparty. It was fun! I wish there were more pictures/videos of the party - the other blogs covered things pretty well - but I got there are 6 (pretty early) and started playing bball. Won some, lost some, had a good time... Played for about 6 hours on and off. (Went swimming and ate intermittently) There were a lot of people who I had never met before, so that was peachy. At one point, Matt Flynn, Sunny Mehta, Ryan Fees, Tri Nguyen, Aaron, and myself were all (briefly) talking together. Actually, Aaron was a few feet away. But it was neat, since that is everyone with an ebook (with the exception of Balugawhale, who for a little while was going to live with me this summer). Writers unite or something? Wish I had a picture of that. The true nugget of the night, aside from ashman's basketball props, was Mike (polyballer) and I found a bottle of grey goose. (It ended up being Vitas' bottle) It was about half full - (or half empty, depending, ha-ha!) while full it contains ~60 shots. So, a prop of "can Mike drink it all in 24 hours" became the topic of discussion. I was fully on the other side; surprisingly nearly everyone thought he could do it. We started trying to put action against, and only Dan (grogheadflow) and Ashton (Ashman) and I were on the "no" side. That went on for a while (trying to round up action) and at first I started with 3k against, and since everyone was so positive he could do it, I backed to 2.5, then 2, then 1.5, and finally 1. Eventually we found other people as well and managed to put 6k against - Mike started drinking around 1am. At this point though I left with a ton of people to go to a bar (since the bar closed at 1 in the house), it wasn't that special, blah blah blah rode a bull again (owned it, getting good) and it was nice being around Dan/Chris (Were in the euro group) along with Dan's gf and her friend, a bunch of people from my house, etc etc. So... July 3rd I woke up and got a text from polyballer asking if I was up. I gave him a call, since I needed an update - he told me he crushed the bet, he woke up and the bottle was empty. I congratulated him, and then round up a bunch of guys to play basketball. Played at Sahara (rather than pecos/wigwam) with Bill, Isura, Alex - Aaron's house (Aaron, Starkey, Mattie, Dan, and Ashman) also showed up, so we had 8 people. We picked up Starkey and had a sick run. Some cliffnotes: -Aaron immediately said Polyballer lost the prop. Apparently he downed the entire bottle (minus 3 shots) and then threw up all over the place. (The bet was void if he threw up before the 24 hours were up) Starkey laughed when retelling the story, because they had poured out the remaining shots (about 3 in there) to count... It was ~25 shots in total. Which is a ton. -I nearly got into a fight playing ball. Some pretty big guy, who literally had a spike through his ear, set a dirty back pick on me where he cocked his body and jumped into me - I went the exact opposite way and luckily didn't hurt myself. But I immediately called him out on it, saying it was a cheap shot... Resulted in a ton of shouting, eventually we moved on. That game was hotly contested, and involved 2 ridiculous calls (they called a foul on starkey one way which was a joke and on the offensive end called a deflection out on starkey, which was equally ridiculous) -After I went with Bill back to his place, showered there/headed to the Hard Rock to the 2p2 thing. I didn't linger, went to Nobu with Bill and Mike. I actually WON the CCR, which is awesome. At the 2p2 thing saw gobbo, shaun, tufat, tt, hodge (a US student), it was fun.. But again was only there briefly. Didn't sleep for a while because I stayed up late watching Lost. Probably a bad idea given I was playing the main event the following day, right? July 4th Woke up around 1130, didnt leave the house until 1140+, made it to the Rio just as they were finishing the July 4th stuff. Opening table was unbelievable. Note I wore my favorite shirt (later that night at the Bellagio we talked about the shirt at dinner; I get a ton of compliments on it. More compliments on it than any other piece of my wardrobe combined. I really love this shirt. I got complimented waiting for my car by a lesbian, it was almost enough to turn her to the other side. I digress) ![]() Essentially I was the only one under 35. Unfortunately it was mostly American, I was looking forward to an all-Euro day. (My 2nd table was mainly internationals, which I enjoyed) The day was only 4 levels (which is a joke) including a dinner break after the 2nd level, which took place at 4:30. lol, I went home/got Quizno's/watched an episode of lost. I felt like I played my "C" game and it was a shame since I didn't take full advantage of my very weak tables. Here are a couple hands... 50/100 -Old dude limps, I make it 425 otb with 45dd. SB calls as does limper. Flop comes A 6 5 w/ 1 diamonds, I misread the board. Despite sitting in seat 5. I thought it was A55. So, they check to me, I think, "haha I'm going to tarp them." I check it back. Turn is an ace. I think, "fuck, I may not have the nuts anymore". Original limper bets 600. I think, "well, i still have a full". I call. Guy overcalled behinds me. River is a 2. They check to me. I think, well, "I have a full house and they checked, unlikely they're checking an ace, gotta bet to see if something like 77 calls me!" So I bet 1025. It's at this point I realize I do not have a full house. I get called by the SB who shows KK. Well, shucks. -Limped pot 4 way I have A6o in the SB. It comes AK2 w/ 2 clubs. I bet 225, one of the limpers calls. Turn is a 9 putting 2 diamonds on board. 850 in there I bet 625. Guy makes it 2k. I think, well, he probably has me. But, I'm gonna call anyway. So I do. River is a club. It goes check check, he has 22. Hmm, I am the worst, these guys never bluff. As said, "C" game. 100/200 -There's a limper, so I abuse him with T5ss to 800. SB, a guy who called every raise of mine, calls. Limper calls. Flop comes 9 5 3 w/ 1 spade (rainbow) I decide to just bet 750. The SB calls. Other dude folds. Turn is a 4. My hand is almost never good here. He also is just never folding. I bet 2.2k anyway. He calls. River is a 3. He checks. I check. 7s are good. -Guy opens the button to 600. This table was tight passive and horrible. I 3bet 96o because I think he will fold. To 2k. He does not. Flop comes T 5 2 all clubs (I have the 9of clubs) but I blind bet 2.5k and he calls. Turn is a 9. I check fold to 4k. As said, "C" game. So, despite throwing away about 8k, I still had plenty of chips... To burn? -Guy limps, sb folds, I make it 800 total with KQo. King of spades. Flop comes J 4 3 w/ 2 spades. I bet 1100. He calls. Hmm, I don't know what he has. Turn is an ace. It doesn't matter what he has. I bet 2400. He calls. Well, he doesn't seem to care what I have. River is a ten. Know I really don't care what he has, or what he thinks I have, since I have the nuts. I think for a couple seconds, which is long for me, and bet 6.2k. He shoves, I snap and show the nuts. He claims AT, which is just really bizarre. This was my highpoint, 44k ish. I got moved to a new table - a deep blue table, meaning it wouldn't break. This one was looser - to give an idea, every raise was called of mine, as I don't think I stole the blinds once. Regardless I couldn't chip up... I didn't win or lose a single pot of any consequence. -Guy from Bahrain raises to 700, and a guy OTB from Portugal calls. I make it 3k with AQo. Original raiser folds, OTB guy makes it 8k with similar stack as me. Wat. I tank and then fold, and he claims to have had QQ. He kept jotting down hands in a notebook so I believe him. Dinner break came, I was just under 40k I think. 150/300 (no ante) -This level I picked up literally zero hands, and literally was tired and kept playing sub optimally. I just remember either raising and getting called by the field and not cbetting. Or calling raises because people are bad but missing completely and having poor flops to either bluffraise or float. I don't even remember that many situations. 150/300/25 -There were 2 major hands this level. I was down to about 30k (yes, I blinded off 10k, it sucks when that happens) and I started 3betting the Portuguese guy on my right. (Did it 3 times, all with trash, worked each time... one of them he claimed to fold KQs bvb because I was a nice guy... Sweet - HE was the nice guy!) -The 1st is I open red JJ to 800 utg+1. I get called by the button (the guy from Bahrain) and the blinds. It came K 4 2 w/ 2 hearts, they check to me and I elected to bet 2400. The guy from Bahrain called, and deliberated... Asked me how much I had and all that jazz. The blinds folded, but the BB tanked FOREVER, no idea what he didn't call with. Turn was the 5h, and it seemed like the button could be blown off his hand... So I bet 6600, and he folded (claimed KQ, saying I HAD to have had AK) -The 2nd was near the end of the day. Folds to the Australian OTB who for whatever reason seemed to be in a bad mood the entire day and just wasn't that friendly. The Portuguese guy on my right was tilted a bit after just having lost a pot. Guy on my right was the only one who was 3betting aside from me. Went 1k->2.7k->on me in the BB with A2o, so I make it 8k. Gotta 4bet cold. Both folded. I showed my hand, and the guy on the button, in a very thick Australian accent says "mate I folded Aj to you, Im 99% it was good, saw you talking to Shaun Deeb, no way you had anything there". Ok. so that ended the day. At about 40k. I'm pretty happy considering I got aces once, AK twice, no KK or QQ or big hands, and was never really in risk. felt a little bit annoyed we didn't play an extra level since my table was so good, but what can you do. July 5th Uhh, played basketball, have been watching Lost for about 5 hours+ with Assani. Got all you can eat sushi. going to bed now. Yay.
