Poker posts and stories
I really am awful with this whole "sticking to making the blog thing" work. Need to work on that.
The month went well. For a first true month playing for real/no job, I'm happy. I made a few(a lot) of mistakes, but I learned, and they weren't as big as some before. I did have a -16k day trying to play 25/50 and then a -12k day playing to much 5/10 in crappy spots, but that happens.
Initial totals
cake - 9.5
FT - 1k
stars - 5k
UB - 2.4
Stars FPPs (for rb ) - 25k
Final totals for sites
UB - 0(-8k) and I'm actually down about 8k there. I'm not happy with how I played there at all. I just sorta assumed I could crush those games, but they play very different and I never paid enough attention to them, so thats a nice -8k to start with
Cake - 22.8k(+13.3) Where I played the most. Definately happy with how I played here. Still a nice lil site, though not as good as it has been
FT - 6.3k(+6.8) Just played deep games here, and transferred 1.5k for a house, so this is actually 7.8k
Stars - 7.2(+2.2k) Barely played here
absolute - 3.5k (+3.5k) Started playing here from coaching bankroll. Its fun to play deep
Epassporte - +1k from some stuff
So thats +20k from poker, and then another 4.4k from rakeback. So meh, coulda definately been better, and I do expect better results in the future, but I am happy with how it went. I did lose the prop bet though, need to drink less

Unfortunately, Friday night, one of my friends called me up to go out. I was gonna try not drinking this month very much. Ooooops. We took some shots cuz she wanted to, a few beers, then beer pong at a friends and I didn't feel well on Saturday. So obv I decided to play some 1k SnGs vs a guy I think(thought) was a donk. Meh. -3k there. Not cool. So I reload UB, play cake more.
Overall, I'd say I've only played around 16 hours, not that great. About 3 on Friday, 1 on Saturday, 4 Sunday, 4yesterday, and 4 today. Not really what I'm looking for. But I am playing tennis everyday, so I'll deal. Definately getting to be a better player in tennis.
So for now
Cake - 14.5k(was at 16, again, oops )
UB - 3.5k, but reloaded 2k, so actually down a bit there.
FT - 1.5k
Stars- no change.
Earned a decent amount of rb so far, but not as much as I want. Need to grrrrrrrrrrriiiiind more. But I do feel I'm playing really well. Still a few off moments, 1 kinda tilty session on cake, but overall happy and content. Just need to play more. Off to get food then work on that. Probably just 12 table 1/2 the rest of the day cuz 3/6 was wrecking me earlier. overset and 2 lost coinflips and I just didn't wanna play after that. Gotta work on that confidence thingie I guess

Ok, so now that everyone's cleared up, its time to start over this February. And to start it, I made a prop bet with a friend over who can make the most rakeback. Its gonna be tough, since he basically lives on poker at the moment, but thats ok, whats worth doing if its easy. So I'm gonna try and keep track of everything. At least post every night how long I played for, how much I won/lost and what kinda stakes I was playing. As well as trying to keep track of my mental state which has always been my worst enemy.
So at the moment,
cake - 9.5
FT - 1k
stars - 5k
UB - 2.4
Stars FPPs (for rb ) - 25k
As for other stuff. I'm trying to become a human again, meaning no more going to bed at 7 am to wake up at 6 pm. Thats sorta fun I guess, but I miss out on a lot. So I'm trying to go to bed around midnight each night. Its helping a lot so far. I feel far more like a human than I have previously. Its a nice feeling. I get stuff done, I don't feel tired all the time, I'm getting back in shape. Right now I'm playing tennis with a friend about 3 or 4 times a week. Its pretty cool to actually do the stuff I love more often.
As for the old goal, I actually did ok, but the problem of xmas and skiing and all that reared up. Then I started staking people online so I sent away a bunch. Still, I thought it was worth it. Hopefully this one will be far more worth it.
I think thats all I got for now. Probably gonna go round up some breakfast then start this month right.

Haven't had time to update this in a while. Basically, I haven't played poker at all. I studied my ASS off last week for my final exam. Was pretty sure I aced it, meaning I graduated. HOWEVER, I still wasn't sure. Still, we walked on Saturday and since the family expected it, I walked, but it was stressful. The good news, on Monday I found out I got my C and on Tuesday, I have no defencies. YA YA YA! No more college for me, at least for a while.
As soon as I finished walking on Saturday, my family and I flew to Denver to go skiing at Breckenridge. Definately a fun time. Wish we had a bit more snow, but whatever.
Since I haven't played poker, I guess I have to do some sort of analogy with skiing to poker. And actually, this one sorta works. See, I'm not great at skiing. I'm good, sure, but definately not great. I can get down almost any slope, get down easily on blues, and well on blacks. Double blacks, meh. But thats not the big thing. Its control. I don't ski in control enough, I like skiing fast(as I'm sure everyone else does). So ya, I definately wiped out a few times this week. Its kinda like poker. You learn the fundamentals, you learn how to get down the mountain in all possible conditions, but the thing is, you still have to get better. I know I can beat the lower levels, but some of the higher levels, the ones with the bare ground, and no easy targets. As for being in control, on the blacks, the tougher games, you gotta bring your a-game. You have to see the line, follow it to its conclusion. Sometimes on blues though, you just blow it out. You know you would ski or play better if your in control, but GOD, its so much fun to let loose.
Now, the thing is, loosing control, it'll make you wipe out. You might loose money. But in the end, I know its making me a better skier. I'm learning how to go faster, make sharper turns, all of that. And in poker, its made me analyze things more in depth because I know I screwed it up the first time. I KNOW I'm not the best, I'm not gonna lie to myself, or anyone else, at this point. But I want to get better day by day. Thats the goal. Its a good one to strive for at least.

Sweet, moved up to 1/2! Ofc, my first session there is incredibly swingy, but we'll stop that. 2/4 is next baby
No other stuff really going on in life though :/ Need to get caught up on coaching and school stuff though, and definately need to study at least 1 hour a night for IC engines

So far up 1.3k on UB in not many hands of 100 nl. Actuatlly played a bunch of 16 dollar SnGs on stars cuz I was bored. Man am I not used to that stuff. Definately misplayed tons of stuff. Then got "desperate" enough to 15 table 25 nl on stars. Definately +EV there. I wonder if you could make a living off that ?
As for life, I hate UGA. Thats all there is to it. UGA CAN DIE! Sigh, we shoulda won that game so bad. How can a team blow so many opportunities ? Its sick. GG to Auburn and Clemson though, at least my friend's schools do well. And a special HELL YEAH to jalex and mizzou. God I can't believe they are the best team out there.
For the next 3 weeks, really need to hone in on studying for IC engines. Hope it works out

To expand on the sorta harsh, angry blog below, I decided to make a challenge for myself. I took everything offline but 2k on UB, 600 on stars, and 550 on FT. so basically I have 3k online. I want to make that 50k by the end of the year. I have to play by the 20 BI rule, and if I lose 5 BIs at a level, I have to move down. On stars that means I have to start at SnGs basically, and on UB, at 100 nl. For HU, I have to have 50 BIs to play. These are the rules. 50k, I dunno. It'll be interesting.

I'm not treating money, poker or my bankroll correctly at the moment. I just withdrew almost everything(enough to play 200 for the videos basically is left) and I'm going to totally refocus after exams. Until then I want to enjoy other things

I've never really done a blog before so this will be a new experience for me. For those of you who don't know me, my name is Daniel Blakely and I'm a graduating senior at Georgia Tech. I've played poker for the last 2 years. I'm sure one day I'll make a far grander post about my past, but for now you can assume justifiably that I'm a bit of a degen, but have gotten by playing how I play .
Ironically, at the launch of this website, I'm actually really not playing much poker. A nasty run of cards and tilt hurt really bad last week and I'm more or less taking a week off to get my mind back. Also, as I'm graduating, I have to make sure to actually study and stuff too. Its gonna be close.
For now, thats all I really have, but I'm sure I'll post more soon
