Hi friends,
Haven't posted in a while. I didn't put much volume in during November and December, and I spent 23 days in January backpacking Colombia, Panama, and Costa Rica with a friend. Got back on Jan 23rd and started grinding again. I moved down to 100nl because I have a history of going lagtard/batshit crazy every time I come back from taking a break. I played alright this week, ran good (not ev wise, but overall), and feel comfortable playing again. I feel really motivated to put a lot of volume in next month. I'm doing this semester abroad in Aachen, Germany, which doesn't start until March 1st. Hello ten week Christmas break!

Hello friends,
I hope everyone is doing well.
After a pretty swingy three weeks, I decided to take off the last week of September. I played some live poker (lost about $2.4k) and worked on some other projects.
September results:

Some thoughts:
Since I started playing, I've always played pretty small games. Most of my volume was at 100nl and 200nl. I think having some relative success recently really fucks with my mindset. I'm a much stronger player after I've been losing or after I've taken a few days off compared to after I finish a weekend heater or something of the like. Hence I took off the last week of September after winning a 2knl shot because I've seen this cyclical pattern that goes win $X, feel good, lose something like .25-.65 of $X, step back to reality, get grind back on the mind, repeat.
I want to get this shit out of my system so that I don't drop to my C or D game every time I win a session. There are so many guys out there that crush me. I don't know why I feel like I've earned the right to sit back. If anybody has experienced this and figured out a way to combat it, let me know. So far all I've come up with is to remind myself that I'm terrible and undeserving, and if that doesn't work, take a few days off.
Anyway, hope everyone else is winning! Also, I loved the nutsinho vid this month. You upper-level guys should use some good ole peer pressure to get more vids out of him.
Chris
PS: How do I import images directly into my blog rather than links to them? Thx.

Hi Leggo,
It seems that so far in small stakes PLO, everyone is afraid of the nuts. My winrate there is coming almost solely from valuebetting the fish. I'm think I'm missing a lot of value by not attacking boards against players unlikely to have the nuts in places where it's easy for us to have the nuts. Here are a couple spots that I perceive as good to attack:
I was planning not to shove this river on T, J, or board pairing card. As played, I can't imagine villain not shoving turn with JT. FWIW if he has JT I don't think he should shove the turn though because my range is so polarized. Flatting the flop and turn in his shoes with JT would only be bad if I had a hand like KKJT, QQJT, or JT99, which won't happen too often, but it's upside is that his flatting range is protected in the future and I can't barrel him off the 2nd nuts so much. I'll stop taking this line when people start protecting their calling range with the nuts, but so far, I think people's range in this spot is pretty imbalanced to non-nut hands.

Hey all,
When we get dealt AAxx, it's always really awkward to play postflop if the stacks are somewhere in the range of 1.5x-4x the pot. I think we can all agree on this. Because of this, we often flat bad aces to open raises 100x deep to avoid making a ~25bb pot with ~87bb stacks.
Isn't this essentially the same spot? Who 4bets here? Who just flats? Flatting creates a 27.5bb pot with 191.5 stacks for an SPR of about 7. 4betting creates a pot of 87.3 with stacks of 162.25 for an SPR of about 2.
What's better here, flatting or 4betting? And to those who 4bet, how do u plan to play most flops?

Hi Leggo,
This spot came up yesterday:

SB: $128.70
Hero (BB): $157.70
UTG: $102.25
MP: $120.25
CO: $101.30
BTN: $110.60
Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero is BB with 8 T K A
4 folds, SB raises to $3, Hero raises to $9, SB raises to $27
In my limited experience at 100PLO, this is AAxx just about 100% of the time. If this is indeed AAxx, I don't have enough implied odds to call preflop even if he bet/calls every single flop. Does this mean that 3betting this hand was a mistake? It plays pretty well postflop and can get called by far worse hands, but can't withstand a 4bet. Should I only be 3betting hands that will flop enough equity often enough to withstand a 4bet?
The math is below for those who are interested.
I will need 40% equity to stack off on the flop:
101.70/(101.70+101.70+54)=.395
I will flop 40% of more equity 29% of the time against AAxx. Of those times, my average equity will be 62%
10/29(.45)+9/29(.57)+10/29(.83)=.62
Folding preflop has an EV of 0. Calling preflop has an EV of -$1.20.
.71(-18)+.29(.62(36+101.7)+.38(-18-101.7))=-1.2
PS: Why am I getting an error when trying to use the Leggo converter? Thanks for replies!

Hi Leggo,
My name is Chris and I have been playing poker since 2008. I have played lots of NLHE and am currently learning PLO. I've had pretty good success at 100nl-400nl HU over the last two years, though I was always a very weak 6max NL player.
I'm starting my PLO studies in 6max and will obviously have lots of questions. I've been a member of all of the training sites, and I must say Leggo has the best coaching lineup of all. Because of that I am going to be blogging here. I've never blogged before. I'm a 21 year old student who is barely literate compared to some of you guys, but I think I'll fit in alright.
I'll probably cross-post some of my blogs into the forums to get additional feedback. Hopefully I find a good bit of value in doing this.
That's all for now,
Chris
