So here's the deal. I go for 2 years straight without breaking or losing a pair of sunglasses. When I was in Vegas I headed over to New York New York to grab a bite with a friend and check out the arcades.
While we were in the arcades I must have taken off my sunglasses at some point and left them out of sight for a couple of minutes, which lead to somebody taking them. I informed lost and found about my loss and gave them my number.
The next day I headed to "Las Vegas Outlet" for some shopping and picked up a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses, which were kinda cool. I managed to keep that pair until my recent trip to Prague, where I'm fairly sure that one of the cleaning ladies ended up taking them.
So by this point I'm down 400$ in sunglasses. I get a call from New York New York lost and found saying that they found my Ray Bans, I'm thrilled obviously that they would still call me after so many weeks had passed. I give them my CC details so they can ship them out with UPS. I got the package today, but surprise surprise the package does not contain my sunglasses, but similar ones. I try them on, they suck obviously. They seem like original Ray Bans though probably worth around 200$ so maybe I can trade them with somebody at a lower price and get another pair.
I don't really think there is much point in sending them back to New York New York for another 25$ or so in postage. It seems unlikely the original owner would get them back by this point.
Funny side story, about 3 years ago my 150$ pair of Ray Bans were stolen from me at a lake whilst I was swimming with friends. GG me.
