So I got back from Prague on Monday. The primary purpose of my visit was to play in the Unibet Open. The tournament itself was well organized and the hotel was nice. We stayed in the Hilton Prague by the river, which is apparently the biggest five star hotel in Prague. The service was good, but the downsides were that the rooms were very small and internet for five days was 120€ per person. We also had to pay 140€ for parking. So there were a lot of hidden costs.
We decided to upgrade our room to executive status upon arrival for an extra 60€ a day. I arrived with my friends Philipp and Bernd and we had just booked the one room so the receptionist advised us to upgrade so we would have more space. Benefits of the upgrade were that we had access to the executive lounge where we could have breakfast and drinks for free (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). The first two days we were playing in the tournament, so we didn't get to see much of Prague. I met some of the players I play with on Unibet in the process and they were generally nice people. The hotel itself actually has a reasonable lounge called the Cloud 9 Sky Bar & Lounge. ![]() This is where the Unibet meet and greet opening party was. Other than the in-hotel lounge, we also checked out a club in the city centre that claims to be the biggest in central Europe. It is called Karlovy Lazne. I wasn't too impressed by it. I mean it is bigish, but you don't notice it as much, because it has so many floors and each floor isn't that big. The ambiente also wasn't very nice and for some reason there were way too many guys. We also went to the club Duplex in the city centre. This is where the Unibet players party was. The location of this club was nice, because it was on the roof tops of Prague. All in all Prague ended up being an interesting experience. The city is really beautiful and the night life is acceptable. The food was reasonable. One has a lot of options when it comes to restaurant selection. I didn't have a lot of contact with people that actually came from Prague, but from my limited experience, they did seem a little reserved. Here are some pics of our stay: ![]() ![]() These are some pics of the inner city. It is one of the nicest historic city centres I've seen to date. ![]() Sorry for the bad picture quality. This was a pic of me and Bernd in the executive lounge having some drinks. ![]() This is a shot from the to of the Duplex club. ![]() This is a picture from me, Bernd and Raz in Karlovy Lazne. ![]() And finally a pic of me playing.
