I'm seriously thinking of quitting Street Fighter IV. It's been very fustrating playing the game since it came out. Don't take me wrong I think the game is really cool and has a lot of potential, but I find myself in spots where I'm getting beat up on so hard. To my defense I'm playing on a 360 controller and if I'm facing a bunch of people with fighting sticks that's naturally gg me. I feel I can compete somewhat against people with controllers, because the playing field is levelled, but people with sticks are just so much quicker it's absurd.
Competitive games are just a really bad idea for me (competitive games besides poker I should say). The reason is that I'm just far too competitve to want to lose with the frequency that I am in SFiV right now and I know it will take up a lot of my time to get better at the game. Plus I would probably need to buy a fighting stick to be competitve and those things cost between 100 and 300 bucks I believe. Thing is if I buy one then what do I do when friends are over? Just play on the controllers again? That would also suck imo. I would probably need two of them. I feel that for me computer games should be relaxing and not frustrating/competitve. Feels like I should just stick to the odd racing game and football match and ofcourse wii tennis. I'm also leaving money at the tables by studying sfiv instead of playing/studying poker so overall it's a very expensive hobby to have one could say ^^. On a side note I just finished an exam for uni on wednesday and I have one more coming up in about 8 days and I've barely played poker this month :/. I'm gonna try and get in 15-20k hands by the end of the month and then hope for more free time next month. Sometimes it can be really frustrating when I know there are a lot of good spots for me to be in at the tables and I can't take them, because I'm studying for an exam, but I'm fairly confident that it's atleast neutral ev for me to get a uni degree from a happiness ev standpoint and a dollar ev stand point. The happiness ev is probably higher though, because I'm more socially involved at Uni then I would be if I were only playing poker. Though on the other hand if I were only playing poker I probably wouldn't be living here in Innsbruck and have more activities to choose from in another city. Daniell
