I too have found myself thinking of the whole mortality thing lately. I usually just try to put it out of my mind whenever it comes up cuz its pretty awful to think about, lol.
The main problem with thinking about your own mortality, how life goes on if you weren't there, how even humanity is a blip in the total universe's time etc is that all the current conclusions I reach are pretty depressing :-)
Mostly because all you'll come to realise is that anything and everything you do is completely pointless (in the grand scheme of things), since that is the case you should just do things you enjoy and not dwell on it to much because you won't come to any answers by focussing on the pointlessness of life
But it can also be fun to think about those big things in life.. as long as you don't let it get to you.. so little we know, and I just can't wait what is coming next for us humans...
HU PLO anything with showing my cards to my opponent every hand
LOL. Yeah, like it'd affect his strategy at all. Though it may affect his emotional state (which may be fun to analyse and manipulate).
Since sauce posted this blog, I've read it ~5 times, and could've sworn on my life the 1st suggestion was HUNL with no folding POST-flop. Would that be interesting in anyway?
number 3 makes lots of sense to me. being in denial about anything has to be a hinderance moving forward because it will only compound its negative effects over time.
Good post. I would like to add that it is common consent that sugar is essential to brain functionality, but recent studies by Cambridge University suggest that the brain may prefer protein as a power source: http://www.menshealth.co.uk/healthy/...n-with-protein.
I currently only eat sugar once a week and at first I found that I was too mentally fatigued to play poker, but after about 4 days my body started to adjust and now I feel fine thinking about hands and playing.
I play a mix of 100nl and 200nl 6max. During a downswing or if for some reason Im not fully focussed, I'll only open up 100nl tables at the start of a session. If its going well and I feel in the zone, I'll add more 200nl tables at the expense of the 100nl tables, if not I'll just stick to 100nl.
With regards to 'being in the right mood to play', this is a huge factor for me, during my pre-session 'warm up' I actually give myself a score for my emotional state and focus (having to be brutally honest here is v important) and if I fall short of what I think is required I'll actually not play. Lots of times I'll look back after a bad session and see that I was borderline in the mood for playing, but thats getting less frequent
