So my sleep schedule is completely ****ed because on homecoming I stayed up drinking till 4am. Normally I would get sunday to sleep it off but I had to watch the eagles game which put me on massive life tilt.

They had so many chances to win the game and kept screwing it up. Than finally down to within 5 yards of the endzone Andy Reid decides to call 4 straight runs up the middle and they get stuffed. Included in this he had to waste a timeout on 4th down so they could decide to run another hb dive. Had they saved that timeout they would have got the ball back with 1minute on the clock instead of 20 seconds. Watching the game just made me realize how much the Eagles miss westbrook. I knew he's amazing and would be a big loss but without him there offense just looked terrible.

So by the time I packed and everything I didn't get to bed until 1am and I needed to be awake again at 4am to catch my flight. I got some sleep on the plain but obviously its not the same. So I got to aruba got packed and stuff and grabbed some dinner with a few guys. They were all still in the tourney so I planned on meeting up with them and going out when the day ended but I was so tired and passed out in my room at 9:00 now I'm awake at 6:00 and can't get any sleep. I play the tournament today and I'll give an update either when I bust or when the day ends at 11.

Played a short PLO session and made 2.5k can't really complain. I think I played pretty well.

This hand tilts me a bit. The pf 3bet is pretty weak my hand isn't that strong the only reason I rly like it is because I can fold to a 4bet very easily. On the flop I plan on bet getting it in but than he flats which narrows his range to mainlystuff like AKT QJT9 etc or JJxx QQxx KKxx AAxx but almost never with diamonds because those hands are strong enough I'd expect him to crai. The turn sucks against that range so I check which I would also do with a bunch of my fds. When the river hits and he checks I can rep a flush and he basically never has one. The thing that tilts me about this is that If he had AK he'd prob snap fold the river but AA and AK are the exact same hand here and he's a holdem player who doesn't like to fold top set so he calls. I still like my line especially because AAxx is pretty much the top of his range and I know i'd vbet any flush and maybe QJ here just hoping he hero calls me.

I know there are million draws that all missed but the thing is so much of his range is combo draws that have pairs. The only really strong hands in his range are combo draws that made trips on the river but so much of his range is missed combo draws that beat my ace high so I bet to get them to fold. He tanks down to 5 seconds or something and calls with one of the best bluff catchers he can...

Basically, I have the most awesome 3 weeks ever coming up. Thursday is my school's homecoming which is a 3 day long drunken street party that is amazing. Than after this drunken weekend I fly out to Aruba Monday morning (6:30am bleh) to play the $5500 that I satted into. I kind of suck at live poker but I feel very good about my tournament game and hope to run good there. Worst case scenario is I get to spend a week out of classes and on the beach chilling in Aruba, so I can't complain. I've never been to Aruba before but I've heard really good things from everyone I asked. I get back from Aruba have 3 days of classes and than a long weekend for Canadian Thanksgiving. Over the long weekend I'm going to WPT Fallsview (Niagara Falls) which is only a few hours from my house and hopefully will ship some money. Niagara Falls isn't as exciting as Aruba but I'll get to see a lot of friends and if I busto I can just go back to Toronto/School. I'm not 21 for another year so I really need to try and grind out as many of these live tourneys as possible before I realize how boring/soul crushing they are.

The WCOOP was incredibly frustrating this year. Which shouln't be a surprise to anyone who has played tournaments. I'm pretty sure I made money in it but TBH I'm not really sure. Despite deep runs in several eves but never got a big score.

In the 10k High Roller I came around 30th after making a really standard shove bvb vs Issac Haxton and he snap called with AK and beat my K9.

Than I went deep in the $215 PLO one rebuy one addon. The field is so soft in these things. 95% of the field is either a giant nit who only plays the nuts or super loose pf but they c/f whenever they miss flops. That makes it very easy to accumulate chips just by betting and raising a lot. Anyways I went deep in this also came 30th after losing with top set to a fd for a pile of chips.

I continued my PLO dominance by coming 15th in the 300 PLO rebuy. I entered the final two tables 2nd in chips. Lost a big pot when I squeezed AAKTds (DS=Double Suited BTW) and got two callers. The flop was K72hh(I didn't have hearts) there was one big stack and one shorty so I bet to get in vs the shorty. The big stack flats and the shorty folds. The turn was the 8h which is such a bad card so I just c/f. I don't think there's any other way to play this really. Than I lost some more chips just raising pf and cbetting but people kept flopping big hands so I kept losing.

My busto hand was a very tough spot and I should have folded but I didn't cause I suck and don't like folding straights. The hand was I open AA53hh with about 50bbs ShaunDeeb flats with 50bbs and the BB flats with 20bbs. The flop is 234r I bet and deeb raises small. Without the shortstack involved its a very easy shove but with the shorty in the hand he expects my range of air to be a lot smaller and he can't have total air because he needs to get in vs the shorty. I still think he can raise sets here and A5 but my equity against 56 is just so bad that I really need to fold this hand. Unfortunately I shoved and he had 56 running board pair/3 chop outs didn't come bustoing me.

I also min cashed in the $320 HU and the 1k HU. In both of those I got sorta owned. The 1k HU Sctrojans floated me with a gutshot 58ss on a K79dd board with pot behind. The turn was 6 and I value shoved QQ figuring he'd shove Kx/flopped two pair a lot on the flop and by shoving turn I could get him to call 9X and someone 7x hands. But his gutter was good obv. Its a close turn spot and I'm not sure how much I like shove but I think its fine. Than we got in K9 vs KJ for the rest of the chips on a K high board and he binked a 9 gg me. The last hand I don't mind because it was just a cooler if I had K9 I would never fold unless I misclick so w/e.

Last tourney I went deep in was the $500 NLH 6max rebuy. I sucked out for a bunch of chips AQ>KK with about 30 people left and felt really good until I was dumb and monkeyed away 1/2 my stack. Ducku was opening really wide and he opened co to 22k at 4k/8k I made it75k with A4o and he flats. I figure his range for flatting is something like 22+ AQ AJ AT KQ maybe ocassionly 78s and stuff like that. The Flop is KT6 I bet 90k to get him to fold all his low pairs and maybe even AJ and AQ and stuff. The turn is an ace. In retrospect I like 1/2 potting the turn and folding to a shove or if he calls c/f river unless its a 4. Instead I c/c his 1/3 pot bet on the turn which is fine because he's dumb enough to bet the turn with KQ and JT and stuff. Anyways river was T I checked he bet 200k this is an incredibly easy fold its really not close but I called and he had KK. Than I reshipped AQ and lost to 88 to come 18th.

All in all a very frustrating wcoop I'd almost rather get crushed than go deep get my hopes up for a big score only to have them dashed away. I also find getting deep in tournaments when I have deepish stacks is very tough just because I have been grinding for 10-12 hours and my mind is fried and I can't think right and always manage to dumb stuff which is something I need to work on.

Also Stars horribly mishandled the 25k HU and 10k High Roller. They ran 0 sats to them even though the tourneys were announced months before. Stars manages to satellite nearly 1000 people to the PCA every year but they could only get 300 runners for a 10k online tourney. Next year if they run that event (plz) they really need to run sats several months in advance so it can be a big field. The 25k HU should also be able to get 128 runners for sure if they ran sats and hyped up the event but once again stars put no effort into this tourney (except for putting in all the team pokerstars fish) and it shows.

Thanks for all the postive feedback on my last blog,
Luc

I wanted to start a blog because it seemed like something I would enjoy so I asked aaron and he told me I could get one on leggo so I'm starting one.

I'll quickly give my poker story although frankly its not that interesting. When I was in High School my older brother (Max) started playing for playmoney on a site called bugsys club which probably doesn't even exist anymore. After watching poker on ESPN I got hooked and started playing for play money there. I still remember on bugys club they would have two big freerolls a day and they would cap at 600 people or something so I would wait beside my computer and as soon as registration opened sign up instantly to ensure I could get into these freerolls. I was obviously terrible but kept studying the game and getting little better bit by bit.
Somehow I had like $10 in my account through these freerolls and started playing $1 sngs I think I made some money at them but I'm not really sure how much. I didn't learn bank roll management yet so i bustoed my roll tilt playing a $20 sng. I was pretty sure I was done but than one day when bored I logged into the account and saw I had money in there so I played some sngs and ran it up. A few months later on Christmas eve (I'm Jewish) being tilted and entering a $10 tourney when i had a $50 roll and I ended up winning for $200 and I was thrilled. By this point I had a better concept of bank roll management and heard a lot about one of max's good friends from high school (Apathy) who was playing $100 SNGS on party and empire, sometimes even playing 6 tables at the same time! Suffice it to say I thought this was the coolest thing ever so I started playing sngs and slowly grinded up my roll to a few k. At this point I would remember sitting at my computer waiting for any sng on Bugsys bigger than $20 to run and they never would so I moved my entire roll over to pokerstars and started playing $27 and $60 sngs there.

At this time I found two plus two and started posting hands I'd play while 4 tabling the $27 and $60 sngs. I did this for a while and made about 10k in 1500 sngs and moved up the $114 sngs. I played about 300 of them and than won a wcoop event for 40k quadrupling my bank roll. I was obviously thrilled about this and with my new wealth decided to move to cash games because that's what all the cool kids were doing. Never being one to back away from a challenge I started right at 2/4 and made 10k in my first 5k hands only to promptly lose it all back on account of being terrible. Over my first 100k hands of cash I made like 10k because I was terrible and had no idea what I was doing however I learned a lot and despite being dissapointed felt a lot more comfortable in my game. I moved up to 3/6 and did very well for a while and started making money however all my money I was making in cash I was losing back in tournaments. I would also get bored and play HU sngs/PLO etc and ended up losing a lot of money in those. I also took some shots at 5/10 and ran terribly and ended up losing like 15k. I still remember losing a 5k pot at 5/10 with 66 vs AQss on a 6xxAss board which was the biggest pot I'd played in my life at that point and roughly 10% of my roll. The combination of running bad at 5/10 and spewing money and games I was -ev meant that despite my 40k tournament score I basically broke even for 9 months.

At the end of the 9 months I left to work at summer camp for 3 months which was a great experience/break from poker. I came back feeling refreshed from poker and started doing pretty well in cash games I was thinking about the game a lot deeper than I normally did, played less tables and started making good folds and good hero calls and just generally making more money. Around this time I decided to give HU a try and ran super good and made a bunch of money, however obviously I was running over my head good and that bit me in the ass because I feel very confident in my HU game and don't really game select. As a result I went on a big downswing running bad/playing bad at 10/20. Luckily for me I have two brothers who are rly good at poker Sam (pudge714) and max (inyaface) who made me a bunch of money in donkaments which washed away my downswing. Right now I play 5/10 and 10/20 HU as well as most big mtts every Sunday whenever there are big tournament series like the wcoop and ftops. I also play 6max cash every now and than (5/10 and 10/20) and I also am trying to learn PLO so right now my goal is to play 100k hands of mid stakes PLO and I wiill see how that treats me.

This whole thing is a bit long and maybe rambling but I think its legible.

I'm looking forward to blogging on leggo and I hope you guys enjoy. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions please let me know.

Thanks
Luc
