This past week had the biggest swings ive ever encountered in my poker career thus far in terms of value of buyins. Playing 5/10 multiabling i managed to get deep on several tables and lost two pots where i put 2.5 buyins in the middle with the nuts only to get outdrawn buy backdoor boats vs my straight and bottom set.
Than proceeded to lose various flips and some other really gross hands where i had large equity when the money went in. I think i handled it really well and im sure my girlfriend had no idea i managed to lose 13k in between back to back sessions, and still be pleasant around her. Thirteen buyins is really no big deal as one of my friends pointed out to me as i was venting over dinner sunday night(after he chopped a live 6max tourney and i took 3rd in it getting allin pf with aa vs aj hh villain turned his flush).
I make a lot of speculative plays in my game but i believe in my reads and when there right and i hold i do awesome. But very often i get the money in quite thinly where the villain has a large draw vs my marginal top or 2nd pair. So 10buyin swings are just the norm especially since i play 10plus tables.
Anyways in light of this ive been pumping out hands at 400nl again for the rest of the month. I really want to run like god at 5/10 playing my style im sure i could nit it up and make some good monies but what fun is that. So id rather rebuild a bit more again and be more prepared again for something like a 20bi swing. Just think it will help me play comfortable again which not saying that im not right now but i wouldnt be suprised if i jumped back into those games and found myself deep, i might somehow become scared money.
Sunday was a wicked day played a 130buyin 6 max tourney in town and managed to take 3rd while my buddy chopped first. Definitely wish my last hand held and we could have chopped it together, blinds are really high thats why this final table normally chops.
Really felt i developed on my live game and i think i might play a few more before i go to vegas next month so i can play some venetian deepstack tournies and do well.
Did a bunch of shopping online this week for my house, got a new headboard, and a table storage unit for my living room to store all my video game crap. Now i gotta get a new furnace since its 50yrs old and its been crapping out on me. Last night i slept at the gf's came home and the house was probably 3 degrees no joke cuz the pilot light keeps crapping out so the furnace wont turn on.
I hope this spending bug lasts a little longer because theres all this stuff i wont than i start playing push it aside than never get it for like 5 more months. Dont know what it is about poker, some days i just wanna throw all my money in investments others i just wanna buy anything that will improve my standard of living. I think i have a decent grasps on things and hope i dont ever get to out of control.
I think if i just grow some balls and finally just go get a new car which i keep putting off and off cuz im so picky when im gonna drop like 40k. Especially since winters here and i just want heated seats
a car starter, and AWD so i feel safer in the mountains.
Pretty much between these 2 just hard to choose.
they both have AWD, turbo engines, and all the luxury features and from respectable brands.
i think ill have an impulse soon and find myself ordering one or the other.
Also got a chance to watch aarons vid this week which had some terrific content. Hes got an incredible gift when it comes to articulating his thoughts. I understand everything fully but would never be able to put it pen to paper or explain it so well. So make sure you guys watch that vid even if your a 50nl player its going to give u a poker mind to aspire too. Havent watched any of the other ones yet any suggestions which to watch next from high stakes week?
