I am super excited for 2009. The great thing about poker unlike having a real job, is we have so much control about the great things to come. We decide how successful we're going to be based on our drive and commitment to improving and putting in hands and studying the game.

Last year i feel i fell short i got distracted from some of my goals and didnt quite always focus on improving my poker game to the best of my ability. In terms of financial goals i feel i met them but realized the few mistakes i made along the way cost me quite a bit. I'm happy ive been working on plugging leaks for the last month and strengthening my other games again. Playing a bit of limit, plo, sngs and more tournies.

Next month brings a big change for the worse to my personal life, but possibly a really good thing for my poker career. My gf of 3 yrs is going on exchange to Austria for 6 months. Ive always had a gf since ive started playing poker and it will be a lot difference having no one around. I live on my own and always have felt having a gf bring balance to what can be a lonely lifestyle. As we see in some of the most successful players that tend to lack social skills or get physically out of shape.

The flip side is i will be distraction free. With endless amounts of time to plug hands and study.
Im sure my spending will go down immensely as well and ill be able to put more focus to growing my bankroll for some bigger games and tournies. I think her hiatus will motivate me to satellite into some ept events as well and go and visit her.

Im happy december is over as well and i have more time to blog and get back to posting more. It was a hectic month but im really happy with how it went.

best of luck to everyone in the new year

This years been pretty good to me so far. Made a lot of new friends and poker has still been giving me a pretty good living. I'm getting excited for the year to wrap up though. We ve got a bunch of ppl about 20+ renting some lofts in Banff for a few nights to party it up for new years. The best part of ski season is approaching too, im excited to get some new boots and hit the slopes. This last past month has been pretty bumpy on the poker front cant seem to get things going and finding it more frustrating than normal. Definately found i have some tilt issues that i never seemed to have before. So im going to be focusing on them a lot in the next few months to come.

This years comedy festival was pretty fantastic. Leading up to the trip i thought Ali and I had some bad luck coming our way. Two days before we got an email saying Katt Williams was cancelled do to an overwhelming schedule of over 300 shows this year. They said he was spending time with his family. ( In actually his family sent him to rehab for drug problems)

That was the first thing, the next thing was Ali got to the airport for his flight and they wouldnt let him board they said his gate was closed despite being there hour and half early. No biggie he caught the next flight. But than when i was taking off to San fran our plane was delayed due to traffic problems at san fran airport so i was delayed 30min and missed my transfer to vegas. So i got in 5hours later than i should have. This got me pretty paranoid about my bags as well because anytime ive had to change flights mid trip thats when bags to get lost. O and my new flights bags were coming in on baggage belt 13 like really im not superstitious but 13 when i first get into vegas i thought we were jinxed.

I checked in to the mirage and went to the bar had a few beers while waiting for Ali than we had an early night (gotta love how 4 am is an early night in vegas).

Friday was the first day of the festival we picked up our tickets than headed to the Hospitality Lounge. Just like last year they gave everyone in there great vip treatment i knew it blew Ali away.

The next few days were pretty much the same thing slept all day watched shows till about 1 everynight than played poker till 7am ish.

My highlights were sitting having drinks with The Kids in the Hall, Sittin 3 rows in front of jamie foxx at laffapalooza. After the festival we had some fun strip night at sapphire and also hit up Body english, jet, and prive. I had the most fun at BodyEnglish where i managed to get a name off a bartender that we could drop so we could get in the house room.

That same night i also ran into my ex's lil sister intown for her 21st bday. Talk about smallworld and to have seen her in a club of over 1000 people it was quite a shocker. Im glad we ran into them though, Ali and i were able to show them a good time the next night. With some predrinking in the suite, limo ride, and hittin the clubs.

Its great to be home aside from the bills that piled up in the mail and **** i gotta do now.

I got this first part done over a week ago, than i found this new party promo,
Its a leaderboard for partypoints im 3rd on it and thats the best ill be able to do since the limit players have a huge lead since they get more points since more hands see flops.

3rd is good for 3k which is a nice bonus for the month.

Its over tomorrow and i cant wait to start getting back to my normal regiment, get my house cleaned, a massage, and start Christmas shopping.

Barely home long enough to unpack and pack up again but im back at the airport again going to vegas. This trip i did something i havent done before i upgrade to have airport lounge access for 30 bones. Best upgrade ever!

I have wifi access, free food, and a free booze fridge filled with everything from guiness to coors to bottles of wine. Not to mention the little things like nice lounge chairs and better washrooms.
I have to transfer through san fran so im gonna hit up there lounge to and get my buzz going.

Ali gets to vegas 2 hours before me and i cant wait to get in and hit the tables.
Maybe ill have some time at my layover to do my trip report from last week.

Write now im writing from bed scamming internet from the neighbours of my gf's grandparents. No internet access kinda sucks but is nice to get away from it all.

Earlier this week i flew in to Montreal to meet up with laura. Wow did i ever love montreal its definitely now 2nd on my list of where i would like to live in Canada. It felt like i was in europe again, cafes, local cheeses and micro brewed beer.

Everyone was super friendly even though my french is terrible and i pretty much didnt try to speak any at all. The highlight was going to a restaurant called "Au Noir".
The concept is its a restaurant experience like no other your served by blinds servers.
Now thats not the punch your served in a completely dark room with about 80 guests, the only thing u can see is the distant flicker of the smoke alarm on the ceiling.

Its fascinating how different life would be not having our site and how difficult something like eating dinner even would be. I manage to eat my filet mignon successfully with my utensils. Laura and some of her friends resulted to using there hands.

I had just met her 4 friends that we ate with and the whole expierience definitely made for a lot of easier table conversation. So if you get the chance try out one of these restaurants.

Than we headed to Toronto staying with her grand parents currently for the first few nights and tomorrow headed to the Fairmont Royal York downtown for our last night.

We managed to do quite a lot, got to visit Ali (somnius), and today we went to niagra falls.
Tomorrow im really stoked for we're going to the hockey hall of fame which should be fun. And sunday on our last day we're either going to the Raptors game or vegging out all day and hopefully ill log some hands.

its been fun so far and cant wait to talk more about all the stuff ive been seeing and doing out east.

Octobers finally over, its always such a long month that ends with a kickass holiday. The next two months always fly for me there's just so much happening in December. And November is all about getting ready for Christmas and gift giving and such.

This weekend i take off to Montreal for 3 days to meet up with the GF after she finishes a school conference. Than shes skipping the week of school so we can hang out for a bit. The plan is after Montreal, we ll head to Toronto. Go to the hockey hall of fame, watch so shows (cant remember what Laura bought us tickets for) and hang out with her grandparents a bit since she never goes out east to see them. Apparently they re really excited im sure it will make for some fantastic awkward moments. An unemployed gambling boyfriend whos travelling with there granddaughter. Im sure theyll have a billion questions.

After i zip back from Toronto i got two days rest before i head to Vegas to meet up with Ali (somnius) i just took care of the rooms today. I got 3 comp-ed nights in a suite in the palms (losing a few G's in blackjack apparently puts u on there comp list) and we ll be at the Mirage for the other 4 nights since its closer to Caesars where the festival is taking place. I cant wait its gonna be so exciting and its a little bit of warmth before i fall into ski season.

On the poker front im unhappy with how last month ended. Really struggled around the end of the month and kinda fell apart. I cashed off a decent chunk again so that i should be alright till January before i really will feel the need to start grinding again. Ive decided that i a sick of variance though. So im probably going to become the sickest overrolled person. Ive decided that for every table i open i need to have 10 bis. I think this structure will really help me play less tables and learn and improve my game more. Im starting to have more fun at poker again now that i have more reads and can maneuver more.

I hope i can manage to do this and not feel the urge when i see tons of fish and 5/10.

gl this month

This past week had the biggest swings ive ever encountered in my poker career thus far in terms of value of buyins. Playing 5/10 multiabling i managed to get deep on several tables and lost two pots where i put 2.5 buyins in the middle with the nuts only to get outdrawn buy backdoor boats vs my straight and bottom set.

Than proceeded to lose various flips and some other really gross hands where i had large equity when the money went in. I think i handled it really well and im sure my girlfriend had no idea i managed to lose 13k in between back to back sessions, and still be pleasant around her. Thirteen buyins is really no big deal as one of my friends pointed out to me as i was venting over dinner sunday night(after he chopped a live 6max tourney and i took 3rd in it getting allin pf with aa vs aj hh villain turned his flush).

I make a lot of speculative plays in my game but i believe in my reads and when there right and i hold i do awesome. But very often i get the money in quite thinly where the villain has a large draw vs my marginal top or 2nd pair. So 10buyin swings are just the norm especially since i play 10plus tables.

Anyways in light of this ive been pumping out hands at 400nl again for the rest of the month. I really want to run like god at 5/10 playing my style im sure i could nit it up and make some good monies but what fun is that. So id rather rebuild a bit more again and be more prepared again for something like a 20bi swing. Just think it will help me play comfortable again which not saying that im not right now but i wouldnt be suprised if i jumped back into those games and found myself deep, i might somehow become scared money.

Sunday was a wicked day played a 130buyin 6 max tourney in town and managed to take 3rd while my buddy chopped first. Definitely wish my last hand held and we could have chopped it together, blinds are really high thats why this final table normally chops.
Really felt i developed on my live game and i think i might play a few more before i go to vegas next month so i can play some venetian deepstack tournies and do well.

Did a bunch of shopping online this week for my house, got a new headboard, and a table storage unit for my living room to store all my video game crap. Now i gotta get a new furnace since its 50yrs old and its been crapping out on me. Last night i slept at the gf's came home and the house was probably 3 degrees no joke cuz the pilot light keeps crapping out so the furnace wont turn on.

I hope this spending bug lasts a little longer because theres all this stuff i wont than i start playing push it aside than never get it for like 5 more months. Dont know what it is about poker, some days i just wanna throw all my money in investments others i just wanna buy anything that will improve my standard of living. I think i have a decent grasps on things and hope i dont ever get to out of control.

I think if i just grow some balls and finally just go get a new car which i keep putting off and off cuz im so picky when im gonna drop like 40k. Especially since winters here and i just want heated seats
a car starter, and AWD so i feel safer in the mountains.

Pretty much between these 2 just hard to choose.

they both have AWD, turbo engines, and all the luxury features and from respectable brands.
i think ill have an impulse soon and find myself ordering one or the other.

Also got a chance to watch aarons vid this week which had some terrific content. Hes got an incredible gift when it comes to articulating his thoughts. I understand everything fully but would never be able to put it pen to paper or explain it so well. So make sure you guys watch that vid even if your a 50nl player its going to give u a poker mind to aspire too. Havent watched any of the other ones yet any suggestions which to watch next from high stakes week?

Last night i got to go to my first every NBA game between the Raptors and Nuggets. Albeit was a preseason game it was great to see. They ve started doing this thing where Toronto travels during there preseason games so i got to see the game in my city of Edmonton. I just went with the family and we had some pretty spectacular center court seats.
I also go a new dell 30 inch monitor to add to my set up. Its going to work perfectly now that ive been doing a lot of 14-16 tabling sessions.

I was frustrated this morning though when i went to set it up because i dont have the proper cable to wire up my monitor but my girlfriend is picking it up this afternoon while ive been playing my session. Nice relief to not have to waste my time going to the Apple store at the mall. I managed a good session too even though i got killed at 400nl (at least to my standards).

I also got a new promo at party poker

its a 100 percent deposit bonus for new sign ups though this link and bonus code Leggo08

or with bonus code Party08 upto 325 euro

Ive decided as well for anyone clearing the bonus ill give you a session of coaching.

Last of all every year i struggle with Halloween costumes and i saw this ad on face book for Halloween contact lenses clearly this is such an ez way to go about having a costume that i wont mind going to the bar in(its cold here so i need to wear winter jacket so costumes are hard to wear).

I ve always been quite interested in feng shui. And i googled it and found a bunch of stuff. So im gonna try to do some simple things like clearing up all the clutter in my office and a few other things that should really clear up the negative energy. I dont care if some people dont believe in it or not but i think even if maybe theres some actual hidden science behind some of the things like the clutter one for example, or having certain colours, or symbols of wealth around you and the affects those things have on you . I think its worth a shot. Im just playing really well and im relaxed and not stressed out so i want to keep this state of mind as long as i can.
Ive been doing some online shopping as well looking for things to better my home. I bought another monitor the other day a 30inch dell. So ill have 3 monitors which will be awesome since i did my first 16 tabling 90minute session the other day and wouldnt mind having some more space to make the tables a bit bigger.

Today i bumped my monthly goal to 30k since ive been shattering my regular 10k goal ever since i started mixing 600nl into my game and now it should even be easier to achieve with playing 1000nl on a regular basis. A friend on here helped me get some coin on FTP as well so a few more transfers hopefully and ill be able to develope a better player pool to choose from as well since party doesnt have many games going late night my time.

Last night when there werent any games going i listened to Aaron on "Cash Plays" thought it was pretty good sucked that they had some technical difficulties. Just the fact that they slightly touched on the subject of huds such as HEM made me really tink around with it for an hour today. In about 15 minutes of using the new stats i implemented i found out how to exploit one reg immediately for a few hundred dollars which is going to turn into thousands im sure over the next month. Pretty stoked about that and imaging what it can do to increase my winnings. Definately think people should really adjust the defaults to stats that u can combine into the style of game u play, i float lots so i have more stats that will let me know who not to float and how to just bluff raise.

This weekend was pretty wicked along with some decent sessionsm, i went to the mall and the amusement park with the gf and her cousins and also went to a football game and got smashed off butter ripple shnapps and hot chocolate.

This week were doing a bit of a glamour night, we got a dinner at a nice restaurant for 6 of us, than a limo picking us up taking us around than going to an awesome lounge. Than after that we ll take the limo and have everyone dropped off at home no cabs for once. We re all blinging it up too so in our nice clothes for a change should be a good night and change of pace.

I ve really been kicking it up for this last half of the month and doin alright. I ve been doin shots at 5 10 as well but not that many hands so no point of showing the sample. Now that im more comfortable at higher games when i go back down to 400nl it seems like such a breeze. If anything i have to try not to out level myself or give some regs way to much credit. Im happy with how things are going and ive doubled my aggression frequency which has resulted in an even better winrate. Hope everyones months going well.

Also for anyone who hasnt watched greg s montage its wicked. Definately something im showing the non believers who dont realize the skill factor involved in poker,

Aite im out
