It's become pretty obv over the last three weeks of the new year that I'm going to have to adjust my goals for the number of hands I get in online this year. Whenever I feel like playing I find myself making the one hour trek up to one of the boats. I think I'm addicted to the atmosphere, def my comfort zone. Online lately I've been losing focus after 30mins, find myself wanting to play Madden or Fifa, go out, etc.

I'm gonna stick to my 25NL goals and not concern myself w/ getting in 100k hands by any particular date. The games have been meh when I have played. I'm trying to work on exploiting the bad tags/regs. The players who have rote lines in every spot, particularly this who take pot control lines but cannot find a fold. It seems in general most players are much more comfortable calling it off/down than v-betting thinly... no one wants to be the monkey, but everyone wants to be the hero. Such a grind at times, trading blinds, 3bets/folds, the occassional cooler for hours just to outplay someone a little more than they outplay me and perhaps squeek out ~$5 over the course of a session from these players. The utility of the money is obv affecting my perception a bit. If I were to look at it as BB's I suppose it's mission accomplished against the regs if I'm taking 20bb's off them in an hour, but I get caught up in stacking someone, how many 50+bb pots I win and kinda discount the sessions where I truly grind out a 1bi win collectively by playing well, taking advantage of spits/players.

This leads to tilt, forcing the action. I want to play big pots, thing is the regs are nits, they're not getting their money in light, they're perfectly willing to die a slow death, but never going down Bon Jovi style (blaze of glory). I know this, but I lack the patience. Which is kind of fascinating since I'm primarily a live FR player and have played 12-18hr sessions before and been fine. Again I think it's the utility of the money won between the two games and the expectation. When I abuse the live regs, 20-30bb's = $100-150, online it's $5-7.5. Doesn't feel like it's worth it after an hour online whereas live even if I don't double/triple up I know I can make a couple hundo never showing down a single hand. That's some blu-rays, ps3/360 games, a night of drinking, a couple polo's... w/e. Online it's like 5 songs on iTunes lol. Ugh.

Secondly, and perhaps most irritating and confusing, I cannot create action. Live I can loosen up the table by raising two hands in a row, 3b once makes me a marked man by every player over 40, I can induce spew/loose calls seemingly at will. Online, I don't know if the avg player is just much more patient, emotionally disconnected, stupid/smart, or what? They're content/resolute in either waiting for the nuts and/or pot controlling/getting to showdown before they ever consider playing back. There are fish, but the regs come off as fpp/rakeback pro's who simply refuse to anything that strays from perfect stat strategy and trading coolers. There is just such a disconnect between micro play and what I see in the 200+NL videos. There is zero meta, leveling, light anything. Just cooler upon cooler. Aggression is rarely met w/ equal or more aggression, they just slowplay and pot control more. Everything is centered on being risk averse and controlling variance.

I guess it makes sense, is a solid strategy, but there's got to be a way to make more money at these limits than squeezing in a couple spots, 3b here, bluff c/r'ing there, win a couple showdowns and only running my starting stack up 20-30bb/table after an hour.

How do you mf'ers have a 10bi day??? I know they're out there ffs! I'd shit myself if I had a 5bi day after one or two sessions. But so long as I can go to the boat and at minimum double my $500-1k pretty easily/regularly on my good days and walk at w/ at least a couple hundo on my worst days, it's like WTF is the point?

Point is there is more money to be made online imo, it's just a matter of getting there... and that's a grind.

School/class has been going well. Work has been good.

Went and saw 'Book of Eli' and 'Legion'. Neither are like omg epic, but I found Legion to def be one of those guilty plaesure watches/will buy on blu-ray. Book of Eli on the other hand was just terribad w/ a roll eyes ending.

Finally got around to watching Jersey Shore on Hulu as I've only caught bits and pieces here and there and I'm super anal about watching things in order (at least shows that have some sort/sembelance of chronology). Wow, just wow. This show is soooo great on so many levels. Love it, only made it through 4 episodes but like ten minutes into the first I turned to the gf and said go get some McD's for breakfast, this is what we're doing all morning!

Colts won, almost went but had other commitments so I traded the tix w/ a guy from work for ND/Army tix next season at Yankee stadium eventhough im not thrilled w/ the new ND coach Brian Kelly. We're losing recruits left/right. He's going after his own guys who are scrubs from non football states like Kentucky and shit. Anways, another rant in itself.

Peyton solidifies himself as the greatest QB ever if he wins #2 imo. Buying an Antoine Bethea jersey shortly, most underrated safety in the game imo. Plus I need to add to the collection... got Wayne, Manning, Freeney, Sanders, and Clark. Gonna add Bethea and prolly Garcon/Collie in the future.

Looks to be a slow week, so I'm gonna shoot for 500 hands a night after work everyday this week.

Later
