Poker posts and stories
Sigh, so tilt. This weekend I went to San Fran to catch the eagles game vs the raiders and to go to a music festival (GT and MGMT were headlining).
The concert was first on Saturday. It was a bit cold so I went out shopping before hand and found an Adidas original apparel store. It was the grand opening so my total purchase was 30% off so I kind of went to town.
Some random purchases:
The concert was pretty cool, it was hosted on treasure island which some sort of navy base, and was made almost exclusively accessible by shuttle (and I'd estimate there was around 25k people there, so obv took hour to get there and christ only knows how long to leave, me and my buddy hopped infinite fences to cut to the front of the line). Towards the end I decided to get this sick MGMT T shirt, it was a gorilla or monkey head with an afro that read MGMT and was in neon rainbow colors. It was really sick and I missed out so.. lesson learned, buy shit you want at a concert early and just deal with hanging on to it.
I actually got to finally shake Greg Gillis's hand and chat hit up for a bit, there are pics but they aren't online yet. Sad to say his set wasn't as good as it was last year. I'm not necessarily saying he's peaked but I thought he made some bad decisions for this particular show. That said he did two or three samples that blew me away and that I hope are in his next album which I suppose is due out next summer. Here's prb my favorite:

Fwiw I only know the international players anthem sample from this, if anyone else knows what those songs are or has a longer clip of it, hook me up.
ahhhhhh I liked this one too
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZlW2...eature=related
I could have done with way more beach balls as well. Treasure island was however cool enough to put on a fireworks display at the end which pretty much blew my mind.
Sunday
We are a bit late to the game, arrive just after kickoff. Oakland fans are legit, unfortunately not enough of them have $$ for tickets so the stadium didn't sell out, or sell 90% something like that. If that doesn't happen the NFL blocks out the game in a 75 mile radius around the stadium, so massive bummer for Raider fans. We were 2nd row behind Eagles bench and they were like $160 so, you can get the idea.
The game was so oooooooo tilting. Donovan played so bad and idk what planet Mornhinweg was on. I think Oakland has the 2nd worst run defense in the NFL, and we have Brian Westbrook and Mike Vick and evvvvvvery godamn series we would go to the air three times and then punt. That isn't that big of a deal but no one had any rhythm and Oakland wasn't really respecting the run and we weren't even play faking.. uasdhqsuh12. I just remember sometime in the 2nd quater Donovan calling a time out when we didn't have any and then going on can't see tilt for about 20 min.
Anyway we lose to Oakland, then this week I think they lose to the Jets 38-0 or something, godamnit.,............1231231254jitewrgj4y.
Also I did a bit of watch shopping. I opted for this:

Also I'm fairly certain this is the infamous "jakey"
ugh what else... i got really drunk, irish carbombs are sweet.
I went to Boulevard in SF, really really nice restaurant, got introduced to a dark and stormy, which is ginger beer and dark rum over ice. I had bacon wrapped quail in a mushroom bisque and poached lobster over a truffle risotto. nomnomnomnomnom
Last thing is enter the wutang, their first album, is one of the greatest albums of alltime. Sorry beyonce and taylor, you aint shit.

Let me preface with a little background.
I started playing poker sometime in December of 2006. At this time I was a second semester senior in high school, living at home being fairly average/normal. I played straight all day every day straight on through to when I began college (Drexel) that September. I lasted one trimester there or until that Jan-Feb 08'. I decided college wasn't for me so I dropped out to live at home and grind. One year of grinding, Vegasing and donkamenting later I decided it was time to move out. I moved to Orange County, California with tcorbin16 on Jan 1st 2009. It appears as though now that chapter is coming to an end.
I'm bored of California. It's not to say California is boring, in fact it can be very exciting, however I am no longer growing here. My original criteria for coming to California was that it be; somewhere warm, somewhere with other poker players and somewhere away from home. It was great for what I needed at the time, however now I have a bit more perspective and am looking at my life down the road, particularly my 20's.
My conclusion, CANADA!
I have been struggling for a while now with picking a hobby. Currently I'd say it was golf, though I don't really play enough for it to qualify. Earlier this year I went on holiday to Lake Tahoe to ski and snowboard. I enjoyed it thoroughly, it was definitely something that I could take up as a hobby as a supplement to poker. I was toying around with the idea of moving to Lake Tahoe, however Canada seemed more appealing.
I have major idealogical differences with America. To be honest I think this country is a disaster. My beef is with our system of government and how it applies to our system of economics. Ironically, Barry Greenstein said something in an interview that really struck a cord with me, while in DC working on UIGEA legislation he discovered that "Politicians are not necessarily the smartest people or the best at their jobs, they are however the best at getting elected".
Yikes... ok this seems to be turning into more of a political editorial than a blog post, but basically reason
#1. I don't agree with American Government. Not to say that Canadian Government is the absolute for me, however a change of scenery will help give me perspective.
#2. English. I don't speak any other languages, so to ease my quest into the rest of the world my options are limited; Canada, England, Australia, New Zealand... idk some islands or something?
#3. Proximity. I am planning on moving to Vancouver/Whistler Area, the West Coast of Canada which is very close to California where I have friends and Las Vegas where I routinely travel to.
#4. Snowboarding. I was in the whistler area when I was a kid, awesome resort type town, good food, sick slopes, etc.
#5. Cost of living. There are a few tax breaks I'll be able to take advantage of and I think it will be marginally less expensive to live in Canada.
#6. It is the start of what will likely turn into a world tour. The tentative plan in my head is to spend a certain amount of time getting settled in Canada, snowboarding and having a blast, then start moving east across the globe. Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, England, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Italy Sweden, Netherlands, Austria, Greece, Egypt, Nepal, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand.
Not sure when but I think I want to mix in South America as well. If I'm really a baller I'll do all this before I'm 25. I'm finally starting the adventure that I imagined coming with poker.
I may play some donkaments in between but frankly I'm kind of over poker. I hate pretty much everything except heads up cash games, to tell you how I REALLY feel, I think they are a mechanical boring waste of time where nits can have no idea whats going on but learn a bunch of basic plays and seldom be put into interesting situations that causes them to think so if they are bad finding that out and exploiting it is boring as it takes a long time.
I probably haven't even played half the hours of poker I intend to play in my lifetime, but I am very certain about how the rest of my career will go. I'm intending on moving on to something else as my focal source of income and hobby, the way I view poker now, and hopefully my travels will shed some light on what that should be.
If anyone has wisdom to empart or knows anything about Canada, where to stay, eat, how to learn to snowboard, etc. please leave feedback in the comments.
Earlier I posted about needed to get more bands, thanks for the recommendations.
The last week I've listened to radiohead's discography two or three times, and my god. They are so so sooo sick, old people who whine about new school having nothing comparatively as good as the oldschool need to investigate this band, they have soooooooo fking many good songs. <3
Just in case you don't know and want to familiarize yourselves:
Listen to Pyramid song first. Then just pick any album and listen to it all the way through, you will not be disappointed.

I recently hired a personal assistant (best decision of my life other than flying to costa rica). I've had breakfast consistently for the last two weeks, which is probably a first in about three years. It's a mutual friend who can cook and is super handy. Really chill dude, you'd like him.
Anyway so tonight he was coming over to drop off some bananas and he got stopped by one of my neighbor (old head who was filling up this super advanced 77 buick). Rob was completely wasted at the time and the following conversation ensued:
Rob: So does that thing run? (talking about the car)
Old head: Yeah yeah, can't get up and down the hill though because it will die.
Rob: Yeah
Old head: (as rob walks up the stairs to our place) So what do you guys do in there?
Rob: Um, I'm just friends with them
Old head: Well what do they do?
Rob: Uhhh we're like college kids or something
Old head: What about those computers, are you like FBI agents?
Rob: Umm yeah we like fun, yeah .. computers.
loooooool
From time to time I sit at every 5/10 table just to see who might play, some regulars don't much appreciate it and make some advanced plays as a result:

So last weekend my friend Matt turned 25. We went to Vegas for the weekend to celebrate. I was suppose to drive but we were running late so Elizabeth and I just hopped the next flight out of SNA. They went to get ready, I went to shop. Since moving into my new place I don't have any clean clothes because at the time we didn't have a washer/dryer. I went to Fashion Show to find some clothes, I wanted a baller suit but there wasn't enough time to get it tailored, so I settled for a shirt and jeans. I also needed a haircut but there was little time so the chick at Nordstrom just recommended getting a hat which I did and was an easy fix.
That night I met them at Nobu, If you haven't been you have to go, its a Japanese explosion of flavor with every dish. The stand out dishes of the night were the king crab tempura and the kobe beef sashimi. The kobe was similar to Carpaccio, however it was seared, so briefly so that the meat hadn't changed colors despite being razor thin. It was the beef equivalent of toro imo.
That night we were planned to go to XS, but it was August in Vegas and they tried to give us an outside table. Their scam is pretty brilliant, tell you that you're promised an inside table, seat you outside, then tell you that if you want to get inside you need to start a bidding war with the people who have tables in there. Anyone who knows me personally knows I want to start the bidding war, but Matt and I were the only poker players in the group, and most people are live nits so, we bounced and headed to Pure.
Pure was cool, we got completed wasted and remember very little of anything.
The next day we went to Fix and the Bank at the Bellagio. It was chaos, so many people there on a Saturday night. Got super drunk and don't remember anything from that night either.
Matt, Me
Black out drunk waffing a 20 at 5 in the morning Saturday. I had no idea this picture took place until a few days ago. lol
Poker,
There have been some juicy 1/2 games running, in fact nosebleeds in general are starting to heat up so I've been taking some shots w/ all my own action. Was going badly until yesterday.

I thought about checking back here, but I thought for sure he would push preflop with any pocket pair, and I didn't suspect he would have many SC's in his range (touche), and he was tilt and making some advanced plays so I felt there was a good chance I get it in way ahead here. also gamboooooool. My only real beef with the had is
A. Preflop 4b should have been larger as I expected him to flat
B. I didn't suckout
I'm down about a BI at 1/2 and up 2 at 5/1 so I'm even this month in nosebleeds. I plan on playing more with all of myself/most if they games keep going and I can get a seat.
I'm otherwise doing well this month, save a few 1020 sessions I am very unhappy about. For the first time ever finally winning at 25/50, took me long enough god damn.

also the megamillions lottery got up to 207MM so me and colletta (neighbor/balla/friend) decided to buy 2k in tickets. We went to this little market in laguna and told the guy what we wanted. He stared at me like I was nuts and assumed it was a level, but as i fumbled around in my pockets and came up with a chuck of hundreds he decided to help out. took like 20min to get it. Anyway yeah we lost bummer, but luckily I found a bottle of rose which is normally a bit more difficult to find and drank that to calm me down.
oh yeah just moved into new place in laguna its sickkkkkkkkkkk, we have matt right next door and its a whole newer/younger area to explore. cant wait... will post updates.

Hey internet,
I'm currently on an airtran flight that is now equipped with wifi, though unfortunately not with plugs so I have limited battery life. Next flight I take will be virgin for sure, I Think its a bit more expensive but they have plugs and mood lighting so its probably worth the bit extra money. For those of you wondering the internet on the flight seems very solid, though kind of expensive. $12/day $50/month.
Anywho, I'm on my way back to philly for the week to hangout and see friends and family before people leave to go off to college etc. If you are in the area and wanna hangout send me a PM, I think there was a thread in OOT talking about a drunken night in manayunk this week, which should be cool, if there are details Ill post here.
Haven't been playing much poker over the last week because I've had friends over and been distracted with staking!
Basically I'm looking for MSNL+ super stars to coach for HU. I'm only looking to coach HU and only looking to stake cash. If you want a tourny stake I'm not doing that right now, however if you want a stake for 6m/FR and have been a solid winner and just need a stake for whatever reason I will keep you open to consideration.
My criterion for coach/staking is:
1. Must be winning at 2/4+ (not necessarily HU)
2. All play has to be converted to HUNL (so you can't get HU staking and play 6m on the side for yourself)
3. All deals must be minimum 100k hands.
Profit sharing will be dependent on the coaching and guaranteed hands. Basically the more hands you commit the better deal you have the potential to get.
Trust is the most important part of this deal. People with very good references will be a step ahead of the rest. People who I am already friends with will be the best candidates.
HOW TO APPLY
Please email all applications to (FeesStaking@yahoo.com). Applications should include:
- all screen names
- current limits/games played
- screenshots from HEM/PT showing win rate (not graphs)
- your brief poker history
- brief personal overview
- why you should be chosen
- 3 references
As mentioned before if you are looking for a stake any level 1/2+ that you are a proven winner at for whatever reason send me an application and include why you need this stake.

It's finally August. For what ever reason I was lazy last month and only managed about 17k hands. Next week I'll be moving to Laguna Nigel while I figure out what to do next. I'll be living closer to one of my friends in California, which is an important motivating tool for me as I find myself constantly going in and out of fits of not playing or just being plain lazy.
This was probably my favorite part of the month:
Hero (BB): $6977.25
BTN/SB: $2614.50
Pre Flop: ($30.00) Hero is BB with Q K
BTN/SB raises to $60, Hero raises to $220, BTN/SB calls $160
Flop: ($440.00) J 2 8 (2 players)
Hero bets $220, BTN/SB calls $220
Turn: ($880.00) Q (2 players)
Hero bets $440, BTN/SB raises to $2174.50 all in, Hero calls $1734.50
River: ($5229.00) 9 (2 players - 1 is all in)
Final Pot: $5229.00
Hero shows Q K (a pair of Queens)
BTN/SB shows 6 7 (Queen Jack high)
Hero wins $5228.50
(Rake: $0.50)
I have no idea how to post HH's on these blogs yet, if someone knows please help me out

This article was pretty amazing. Basically this guy goes to his baby mommas house, gets the kid, while driving on the highway tosses the baby out of the window. The baby is found hours later and the guy arrested. "When asked by reporters if he had thrown the child out of the car window, McTear answered, "It's a dirty game. A dirty game.""
