House/Electro 60 Min Mix
Posted in Poker | View Comments (4)

Hey all. Been working on a lot of mixing in Traktor and Ableton Live. Figured I would throw my latest piece up here. Some artist in the mix include Kaskade, Avicii, Porter Robinson, Dirty South, Tommy Trash just to name a few. My fav part is a 5 song section from 26:31-37:18, so if you're pressed for time I rec you listen to that. Feedback is always welcome. Enjoy

edit: I dont like the part towards the end where i drop in shave it by zedd so i plan on editing that part or replacing, i think the styles clash a little too much there

Really love electro/house music, have a huge appreciation for Dj's and a pretty active mind that often thinks about how certain beats and songs would sound together and integrating stuff, have always wanted to tinker with it and explore but i guess i kind of just assumed it would be super hard and complicated to actually integrate my thoughts and ideas. That said i really don't know how difficult it is to use like abletron and serato to be fair. Only like a few minutes into this, i enjoy this but seems a little different than style i enjoy the most which is like Diplo, Steve Aoki, Fake Blood, Laidback Luke, Fedde le Grande, etc. Not super educated on all of this believe the style i like is more electro than house.

Thanks Robby!

@back- if your looking to get into mixing virtual dj is a great beginner program but traktor is def a better program. I have not used serato, I know its not as popular as traktor but from what I heard, its a solid program.Ableton is a program great for remixes and edits which I just started getting into. When I first started I just watched tutorials on youtube, I remember watching videos from Hazeion and remember them being informative. I started mixing seriously less then a year ago so I still have a bunch to learn.

The part I find the hardest is getting promoters/booking agents/club GM's to listen to to your stuff. If you already don't have a name for yourself they pretty much just tell you to fuck off or don't even look @ your work. I'm looking to get gigs in the long island/nyc area which is super competitve so I'm not sure how it is around other areas of the country.

As for the artists you mentioned, you are definitely into electro, most people big into electro also love dubtep. I've seen Aoki live twice, he's awesome. The Bloody Beetroots are my fav, I highly rec you listen to them if you haven't already. Warp 1977, Warp 1.9, and refused new noise are great. Also check out Tommy Trash and 7edd.
