So I've just caught up on all the new episodes of HSP and so far its been a pretty entertaining season! Definitely dislike having only one commentator, probably the only poker show I've ever seen with one commentator and its pretty brutal. No back and forth banter, no laughter at jokes except from the person telling it... awkward. Really want them to bring in someone else.

There's been some really amateur mistakes it seems in terms of tells. Spoilers Lie ahead if you havent seen the episodes and dont wanna know what happens you should probably not read whats coming!

That Hoivold guy makes the comment that he's not folding after making a raise that commits himself with a draw but i've really only seen live players do that when they actually do have draws making it easier for his opponents to call him down with pretty much any pair.

Similar thing with negreanu vs elezra when he lets eli pick one card to turn over which I'm sure he would never really do with a monster. Maybe it was a level based on history between the two of them that isn't capture within the scope of the show but it seemed like he wanted Eli to fold and Eli picked up on it pretty easily.

Really interesting hand though against the 2 best players at the table, in the most recent episode the bluff with dwan vs ivey @ the end of the episode, dwan fires 3 barrels which is not unstandard given he doesnt think ivey has anything super strong and at best 2 pair but mostly one pair hands. Amazing though that Ivey even considers calling the river with the pair, he must really know durrrr's bluff frequencies to the point that getting like almost 3:1 that he will be good enough of the time with bottom pair in a spot where dwan's range is pretty much uncapped. I think Ivey's concern in the end was that durrrr might be merging with some hand like TJ and he'd end up getting owned by his own hero call. Hilarious to see durrr sweat it out though as Ivey says "this is going to be the sickest call of all time"! Also hilarious that Elezra is sleeping in a 700k pot.

TP2k I think........ with stacks and 5way or something it was pretty brutal anyway.

I was sure Ivey was going to call, but yeah in the end it must have been the possibiity of durrrr having 88 or something..........

It truely would have been the sickest call of HSP. Only other call that comes to my mind is T4ss from antoniuis vs laak.

Hoivold had AQ on a turned Q on like 36TQ rainbow (iirc) and decided to move in for whatever reason over Gus's bet.

The last hand was definitely interesting... I'm sure Ivey couldn't call because of reasons mentioned, durrr will be bluffing with a better hand there quite often I'd think. I was surprised that he didn't do a real Phil Ivey soulread staredown trying to gain some reads from durrrr. Maybe he already knew for sure that durrrr was bluffing, but still couldn't call with this hand

I saw the Dwan hand last night, was thinking how sick it'd be if he was bluffing with 88 or something and Ivey called. Such an awesome hand, this week's episode was probably the best I've seen.

i think ivey's call on that river would be pretty horrible vs. durrrs range especially since he was holding the nfd.

i thought jason merciers b/3b w/ A4hh on 732r was a really good play. Ivey wasn't representing much but id imagine its tough to keep your composure when shoving over phil ivey's flop raise for 200k in a live setting.

edit: for a second there i think phil was contemplating bluff shoving river.

I agree a lot of suspect play imo....

We have a thread started in other topics if any you guys want to discuss these hands more in depth.

the mercier ivey hand was the most intresting spot imo. not sure who played it sub optmally ivey or mercier, Ivey was getting 3-1 so is mercier range so polarised that calling there is profitable? and did mercier make a mistake thinking he could fold ivey while giving him 3-1 on flop all in?. fwiw I rarely see Durr make a mistake with bet sizing if ever

I was suprised at how poor Negreanu has been this season. Not only has he made some suspect plays but he also appears very uncomfortable and flustered when he's in a pot and you would think people with a lot of live experience would pick up on the live tells he's giving off.

It also seems that Ivey and Durrrr have an even bigger edge in a field like this than you might have previously thought. People that could actually play back at them like Mercier, Dario and Esfandiari are disadvantaged because they only have one bullet and players like Hansen and Negreanu are just outclassed.

yeah merciers bluff i thought was very good, it would have been excellent if he had been deeper or if he manipulated his initial bet so that his 3bet shove would have been a bigger % of the pot. IDK about you guys but i was fucking nervous for durrrr that entire time. Easily one of the sickest hands ive ever seen

Negreanu was horrible last season. Seriously rewatch it, some of the plays last year were just atrocious. Nothing nearly as bad this season.

Durrr is not human
