Is merge closing?
Posted in Poker | View Comments (3)

I have been too busy to look into the doylesroom closure. I have money invested in staking on merge and the other people I am staking with think we should withdraw asap.

Is anyone well informed on the situation?

I'm not well informed but here is my take on it. Merge has had an expiration date (as does every other US facing site) ever since BF. The recent announcement moved up the expiration date of all US facing sites. I can't predict anything and I'm not sure what to tell you. In general the atmosphere on 2p2 is filled with panic, a lot of which might be unwarranted.

i suggest withdrawing any money you have on any online poker site. they are all going to be shut down sooner or later.

This indictment is a lot different than Black Friday. Maryland was targeting sports and just so happens that some of the sports sites played poker on the same network as True Poker/Doyle's Room. The major blow to poker is the removal of UseMyWallet deposit/payout option. UseMyWallet was used by a lot of sports/casino/poker rooms. True Poker had their domain .com taken away, which isn't that big of a deal. They immediately opened truepoker.ag and have said business as usual.

This was a 2 year investigation in which the government formed a fake payment processing company. THE GOV'T processed $33 MILLLLLION worth of transactions for these sites. It took them 2 fucking years to take down these small sports books and casinos and they were the processors.

Is money 100% safe on any site for US players? No, of course not, but the DOJ will dot their i's and cross their t's before they bring indictments. I expect small sites to stick around for a while and there will be slow/cumbersome payout & deposit issues.
