This week has been one hell of a roller coaster..

Wed night I lost 1K paying 1/1NLH 4 handed vs possibly the softest/greatest game ever. It was soul destroying. Highlights include:

A £6 pot and a flop of 875r going 6, call, 15, shove for 122, fold, call. thats right 82o calls 107 to see his cards and is drawing dead. I laughed SO hard.

I hold T7 in a £20 pot on a 689r flop and the action goes chk, 20, 65, he shoves for 350 and flips over 67 and gets the chop! LOL

Yesterday I played Dealers choice. Im upto 3.2K from 700 and a pot goes down where I hold QJT987 and am faced with a cold 4bet for 1500AI from a lunatic after a pot sized 3 bet has been cold called. I stack off for 3/5ths of my profit and a chance of glory in a 4 way 5K pot but KK3362 single suited gets there with the flush

Same guy before that had put it in blind and hit nuts/nuts in double flop in heroic fashion. He'd turned over 4 cards after all the cards were out and had found quad 3's on the one board for half the pot and had to beat a Q flush on the other unpaired board to scoop. the Q flush had 3 clubs in his hand. I've folded 3 clubs, theres 4 on the boards and the the other guy has the Kc. He flips over his 5th card to reveal the Ac and finds the 4c with his 6th card LOOL

I recover the 1K~ that I dropped on wed.

That game was off the hook though. Some of the rub downs were amazing. after being stacked "put your big chips at the front please" and then being repeatidly stacked and people lending money across the table "how much are you playing behind now" after borrowing money for the 3rd hand in a row haha

Tonight then did not disappoint. Its a 1/1NLH game again. This best illustrates how it went:

the 67 shover from Wed night got there again with QJ. I figured that KK vs him on T83 is a cooler when a £38 pot escilates into £800 on the flop. I ask how you looking? He says NINE and in it comes on the turn.

The 52o shove was AMAZING. This drunk guy was shortstacking £50 and just shoving, he made a retarded play vs me and lost and told me its better to be lucky than good and that I was lucky. he then went on to win a few pots and I ended up calling his shove on the flop with bottom pair and he slow rolled me. Then he cold decked me when we both turned top pair and he shipped the river for an insane amount. I wasnt pleased putting in £562 with Ak cause I knew hed have two live cards and if he hit I id be losing ~1700 and might not have time to get it back off him.
He flopped a gut shot and faded PHEW!

Should probably do some revision for last 2 exams now, but its champions league tomorrow and then I'm going to Swansea v Reading playoff final, which will be sweet if swansea get promoted!

EDIT: Slav the 82o hand was obv Wez LOL.

I have been too busy to look into the doylesroom closure. I have money invested in staking on merge and the other people I am staking with think we should withdraw asap.

Is anyone well informed on the situation?

I've played with this kid once before...hes a bluffer, and a sick one at that. The game is 1/1NLH, and on his first hand the bluffer has been convinced; partly by myself, to rerestraddle to £8. Its folded round to me and I look down at KK.

"Forty", The action folds to him as they all know the bet size is ridiculous from the previous action and he begins to agonise for a what seems like a lot longer than a couple of seconds and awkwardly drops in two £25 chips..

He checks a 6x3x2x flop so I flick £60 into the middle. One of two thing will now happen. They'll be a rasie or they'll be a call followed by a mandatory bet on the next card.

"Yep, I'm all in". My stack's in the pot faster than Phil Hellmuth would even be able to reach for his chips. I flip up my KK and a mutter of "mmmhmm thats winning" comes from my oppenents direction.

the Ah is delivered on the turn and I mutter "UHH not anymore" His cards are still face down but I know Im now dead to a king. The river is a blank and he tables A5 which is followed by a chip count of an extra £318.

I laugh and look to my right as I count out the chips, I see sympathetic looks of disgust for what they've just witnessed, I look to my left to see people excited by whats just happened. Its funny how poker effects people differently isn't it?

Im in for £1000 on a 1/1 game and am left with a little more than 100 in change,

Im left with little choice but to reload for another 1000 and cover our good friend.

I look at QJo and open for 15, my standard rasie on this game is anywhere between 12-22x depending on whos giving action. Im expecting 3-6callers as they start to feel 'valued in'.

The flop comes of interest containing two kings and a ten, the button looks like hes itching to bet it so once our good friend had checked his option I followed suit. two moree checks and Im praying for the ace to drop.

WOW it comes straight in and I increase the size of the pot by £40.. everyone folds leaving our man alone, with such a large stack will he possibly be able to resist?

The river comes down an offsuit 8, leaving the backdoor flushdraw incomplete and I'm faced with a bet of £65. Now this is perfect, hes put £120 into the pot and hes not going to give that up without a fight. I rasie another £95 expecting to call somewhere between 150-250 more. Our man tanks for a while beofre declaring that he is "all in".
In a moment of self doubt I think to myself, Jeeze... I wasnt expecting that... £560 can it really be this easy? Or has he got the standard sicknees of KT/K8?

Well I've set it up for this and apparently im going to be getting an extra 300 ontop of what I was expecting.. either that or im going to be in for 4000BB's next hand. I commit the chips and get the response:

"Enjoy your money"

I mean I was interested to see how big this news is with the general public on the other side of the pond and looked to see if it made front page news... barely an article (theres been more about in the uk news) maybe im not looking in the correct sources but I thought America's national papers would be 'free press' if the govt is trying to keep this on the dl and out of the limelight (not that im saying theres some massive conspiracy) but it does seem that no one who is unaffected really cares.

The fact that online poker being illegalised hasnt been breaking news isnt completely shocking to me as I believe the majority of American's have been under that impression since 2006 (which is what led me to look into the press coverage in the first place) so running that story might have casued a lot of confusion/annoyance. However the fact that there is no mention of a $3bn lawsuit is a bit of a shock. I mean a $16m payment by BP for the oil disaster has made headlines this weekend and Enron was all over the news everyday from day one, I know these issues obviously encompass a much wider audiance but money is money.

The point is that engaging in online gambling is a matter of personal choice and I cant believe there hasnt been an uproar about freedoms being resticted. (I think I voice the opinion of the majority of the western world outside the U.S. by saying) It's especially surprising as America advocates her sense/perception of freedom as being far beyond that of any other nation and more than almost any other exported product to the point where it is almost her national identity (possibly freedom is second to the right to bare arms as it casuses much more controversy).
On top of this $3bn is a huge chunk of money, what other industries has that sort of money been sought after in the courts as damages.

I truely do feel sorry for everyone who has a large chunk of their roll, or even a meaningful chunk of money stuck in transition. Actually I feel a great sorrow for people who just want to play poker and im glad to see people are trying not to panic and looking to stay postive, who knows there is the potential for a lot of good to come out of this provided the right people are left to make the key decisions..

However legal change will take a long a time, especially if its not a pressing issue, and even then its got to be passed through so I wouldnt hold your breath about playing online anytime soon. I would write to the PPA asking them to let you know what you and others can do to help. I would think gettting large numbers of support from those who dont play poker can only be benefical in the future. For now I hope to take advantage of a softer? PS/FTP playerpool (as people are alway piping on about how much softer euro sites are) and hope us outsiders are allowed back in to play without excusions as soon as you are else I imagine the majority of any of the new soft money from potential future regulated online activity will have already been divided up by the topdogs before we get there.

GL to those of you who cant play for the foreseable future with whatever you decide to do.

Been very busy lately, I think?

Well I havent played live poker for 27 days which is the longest break I've had in... well 4 years and 16days since i played online (it feels like an eternity).

which is when i think i started my final year project, its been a hell of a grind and was a long way off being a good piece of work as it was about half the recommended length so im hoping ill get a minimum pass for it. Its been horrible, never worked so hard on something academic- 18hours a day everyday for the last week. The title was 'studying the effects of age of acquisition and emotionality of words on word recognition' and its one hell of a riviting read. Of all the ares of psychology to study iv definately drawn a short straw.
Was gonna go see wales england but had to miss it causa this so im defo going to the wembely leg.

Was vickys bday last month and was struggling of something original to do cause we eat out like all the time which is a bit stupid really casue shes an amazing cook and thats coming from a very fussy eater who eats shit all the time. So was talking to people about what to do and someone in the casino had mentioned that they owns a few restaurants, one of which is on a boat and its really romantic and to give him a shout. I did, he said hed sort it all out for me, cordon off the top deck and make it well romantic, he was very passionate about his cooking so i thought yeah alright then ill give him a shot. its about 1h30 away so headed there not really knowing what to expect. got there never heard of my reservation LOL! still food was amazing though and vicky said shed always wanted to go there so wp me.

Played 3K hands on 20NL and got dicked so have stepped down to 10NL again think my plays improved probably pushed a few too many draws though but im calling down as light as I used to.

First sponsored tournament was at the start of march. We got there 30mins late I sit down and get AA on the first circuit. 1 limper for 50 i make it 275, seat 7 pipes up ' I know you we played balh blah blah raise 800. Love it i know hes 5 bet shipping on me. whats even more suprising is that he still does it after some old live donk limp calls the 800 (10K starting stack). anyway i snap he tables Q6o and says ah thats so sick thats the only hand u can with. I reply mate im snapping you off with AJ. he laughs flops a 6 picked upa a 3rd diamond on the turn and fades. EZ game.

had the chip lead with 50K by 100/200 literally minraised everyhand PF. do it from the BTN with J5 not noticing a limper and it comes J53. bet rasie cold call. (the raiser was the table nit so i thought 33/55 is a strong possibilty so ill see how it play out) turn J. BINK. he checks I raise he snap shoves Im thinkin haha hes only got one out or is drawing dead. obv hes not as bigger nit as i thought and tables KJ "a king would be nice" delivered LOL. bye bye 35k pot

there was one other hand where i made the gheyest fold with J6o on a J74dd flop where i just really couldnt think how im losing but folded anyway and idk why .8/1600 id MR'd PF cbet 2.8 after bb chked and the player behind made it 28K he had 35 back and i just had him covered. It still hurts thinking about it now. anyway he was just flipping out with 89no d SIGH.

I cashed in it. 25/~300 one of the guys came 2nd so was made up for him. In fact it was pretty sick i think 44 went through to day 2 and there was 8 of us left in (only one shortstack) and only one made the final! So I got to keep 70% just for playing on the site. If any of others in the uk are interested then shoot me a pm

Gonna tear up the end on multientry week this weekend

Going skiing next week and cant wait, even though its really late and will all be slush, rock mud and grass and my skiis will probably get fucked, before then theres a student tournament which is a £33 buyin in with about 300runners and they add a wsop m/e package for the winner.

Im pretty drunk writing this.

I have three step sisters (all older) between them they have 5 kids. the youngest called me tonight to tell me that they have all had some tests and the other two have come back positve for having a defective/cancerous gene giving them an 80% chance of dying from breast cancer/60% of ovarian cancer. their mom died (from cancer) just before my mom and dad split up (+20yrs ago). my dad died from cancer 18months ago after a long battle with dirrerent forms of cancer. they are not blood related. none of them smoke or lead an unhealthy lifestyle. this is such bullshit.

the rest of this is insignificant.

the fire alarm in my house needs completely replacing to fix a fault as opposed to just having a new control panel which i found out this morning which'll cost several thousand more than expected.

i started my uni project today its due in 5weeks friday. I dont have enough time. and now i really dont give a fuck

i played poker last night and was winning 3K on a 1/2 game. I ended up 800 and have been slated A LOT today for not locking up and leaving. People who werent there have gone out of their way to ring me and give a piece of thier mind... I folded a lot more hands than I normally would... could have put it in with AJo for 4K preflop... i know im winning.. if i 4bet it all goes in.

If you are winning a large amount of money (to your financial situation, or even normal game) do YOU leave?

Do you leave if the other people who have money (with much larger bankrolls than you) are chasing their loses and playing badly b/c you are up such a large amount? or do you stay and put your money in when you are in front.

I STAY. and i play(albiet not full throttle). what do you do?

Pretty irrelivant compared to other shit right now but that was supposed to be the intention of this blog post and id like opinions on that.

no condolences necessary. at least they might be able to counteract it early.

cancer is a fucking cunt and i hope your loved ones never have it. good night

That last blog post annoyed me as its cut off the actual content (so the first part is a rough summary and the juice is half way down).

Jan results were as such.
Live +£6.5K
10NL - 13BI (8with rakeback) over 12K hands- no videos watched.
Mtts - Played 175. 150 of these in a sunday-sunday period with total buyins of ~10K, I made 3 final tables and had a lot of deep runs to make $450 prersonally but lost money for investors as I only had one deep run where I'd sold action.
150 mtts in a week is pretty ridiculous, it would have been a lot lower number if I had the ability to actually win more than 20% where im an 80/20 favorite que sera sera...

House and Uni goals both remain unacheived and I fucked up one exam but I hope the essay I submitted for module is enough to push my %age up to a respectable one(35-40%) b/c the exam was a disaster. (and im not one of those people who says that lightly).

Feb then.. were 11 days in. that less than 6weeks til my project deadline and I still have very littl clue about what to do...

This week I played a 1/1 game where some chinese boy godmoded me (£58pre OOP with 78o. flops K42 and makes nuts by river/calls £55 on a AK2 flop with 33 and binks the turn) after beingdown 650 I went home and got my bankcard and thought is this such a good idea? I thought about how to exploit him and thought its too good an opportunity to pass up so.

I have had some harsh lessons about trying to stack fish who have accumilated huge stacks
Sometimes it is just their night and there is nothing you can do about it, so dont go after them with marginal hands tying to push small egdes. I also identified where I'd been playing badly and how I should be exploiting him. In this case making much bigger bets post flop and thought next time that this happens I should just go for some food for an hour and analyse whats going been going on and come back with a well thought out game plan, its far better than sitting in the game chasing the big stack.

So I reloaded for another 1700, at this point he had over 2k infront of him. first hand I rasied 20 with T7o flop came Q74ss he led for 20! he hadnt bet all night so I thouhgt he must have AQ/KQ and I turn a 7 and led for 80 he calls I bet 180 on the riverand he tank folds!!!!!!!!! ridiculous I was shellshocked. maybe I should bet 100 or 500? I win 2 more pots off him and he literally grabbed his chips and ran off he table. what a bastard!

Last night I took a hammering on dealers choice. I was oneouted by an oldwoman twice and everytime I started to pull my stack back she did me. (still not as annoying as the chinese boy a few days earlier) last hand of the night is double flop (6card PLO with two boards) and its potted to £80 to play. I had a bag of shite. 224c5c9dTd. low pairs are only good for quads in that game and no flush draw is good except the NFD, although straight flushes/ quads arent that rare as all 52cards are in play. So I call and flop the nuts on one and pot it. Another two people call. its come QJ8rainbow and QcJc4x I have to dodge pairups as QQ has top set on both but my 4c5club draw was live LOL. I hit the straight on the other boad and hold to scoop a 1.7K pot to put me up 700 for the night.

NOW FOR SOME NEW DEVELOPMENTS

A few months ago, maybe longer Roberto intimated to me that he was starting a project up to help a few of us make some money with no risk on our part.. a complete freeroll. I played with him last week and and he said hes ready to start so to come and see him in the week.

Its similar to sports betting where hes bankrolled myself and a few others where we'll split any potential profits 50/50 on an individual basis becasue the more volume you put in the more profits you should see (so obv its not great for people working 9-5). We'll leave 50% in the account to grow the bankroll and increase the bets and he said that whenever I wish to take the other 50% out I can and he'll keep half and pay the other half into my onewaypoker account on ipoker.

That all sound pretty fantastic doesn't it?
I basically make some freerolling on the side whilst im infront of a computer.

This is the kicker.

If I gave my word that I'd keep the money on oneway to grind then they'd sponsor me. They're creating a team to play live events in the uk. He said dont worry about playing exclusively on oneway b/c he knows I play a lot of mtt's on FTP but just keep a few tables running to turn over some rake whenever I am playing/sportbetting.

They're drawing up some contracts for 5 of us who have raked well on the site in the past. (I did my roll 6tabling 200PLO a few summers ago whilst running ridiculous under EV.) And with this sportbetting bankrolling it should stop me from repeatidly busting trying to generate rak/points. It looks like it'll be the 300 (100Kgtd) in DTD everymonth a few UKIPT's and the welsh open as well as any promotional tournaments that oneway run in the future. I can also exchange my points for GUKPT seats. I think it'll be a 12month contract to begin with on a 70/30 split with the 30% being reinvested to future events.

So poker wise everything is going very well (except for not holding to get stacked up in mtts). I've paid off a lot of my student overdrft debts off and still have a bankroll and now this sportbetting is starting with no risk and a sponsorship package in the pipeline for when I graduate. I just wish I could get my head down and focus on Uni. 12000 words on a boring subject in 6 weeks doesnt inspire me to get out of bed in the morning.

Im playing the multientry ftops events this sunday 6x129 and 6x332 and 6xM/E (640) next sunday, and focusing on just those tounaments. sold most my action already but may sell more if anyone want some pm me for the details.
