Now stuck ~5k (euros) for the week (last 2 days) OMG. I played so bad today. It was 30k starting stack so somehow i didnt bust until the end of the day. I basially played everyhand wrong- bad laydowns, terrible calls and kept getting knocked down to 10k, but the structure was awesome so after I managed t ostring 7 folds together I rocked up and played properly for 2 hours. I got upto 45k just before level 8 (250/500/50). Then I donked it with K10 into aces leaving me 12k. or 20bb for 2moro. but not content with that i tried to hero call my last 7k into a full house.
My table was ridicilous. When I sat down I thought oh wtf theres 3 decent players that I recognise and one of the pokernews boggers is chatting to/taking pictures of some other guy. So i thought id been duped a bit on the table draw.
I feel I must point out that I was the only person to fold to a 3bet in 8 hours of play and every raise received 3-5 callers! A lovely table for someone who could hit a flop or trust their reads.
Im so pissed with myself right now. I grinded that stack for 4hours before I got chipped up and I would have been extactic with finishing on 16k after how bad I played today as it would give me 20BB for 3 levels which would be plenty of time to get chipped up. So when im upto 45k after playing so bad id go back 2moro and get my a game on. (always happens after I play terrible in tournys cus I get real desire to crush the game).

I had 3 lots of 5% out which have been paid to me over full tilt. So i got back to the hotel at 6am and load up ft for some comps. (ipoker and stars wont load up here ) I play like a maniac and donk a few $$$ in comps then take them seriously. I go deep in the 24kgtd and the 12.5k 1R1A but get cold decked and a beat. I was smashing the 20R maintainnig a top 20stack from the off to 40th when I busted. I played the turbo hundo and cash losing a pot for chip ft average with 19 left A9 tank shove utg and a call aq knowing im ahead but not wanting to call b/c i feel like I will get a beat. Which isnt a reason for folding but I could becasue when I shove first my chips are only in danger when called. So that was pretty shit as it was 6k for first which would go a long way to to evening out this trip.

THE PLAN. I have approx 36 hours over 3 12hr sessions to make my 5k back. so that 1650 a session which is 140 an hour ish. Its also crazy becasue position is backwards on these cash games as they deal counter-clockwise. Lets hope I crush it 2moro.
Apparently the cash games are the same as the comp. everyone calls prefop (which Im used to) but theres a cap on the table so that fucks up the game if its to fishy.
I think there a 400 and a 200 on saturday so ill see how many runners there are and how my houly rate is on the cash games as to whether I play them.

The main event is E3300 (about $5k) which is way out of my bankroll for an mtt! But theres so much value in dead money I thought Id see see if anyone wants any of my action. As Im new here I dont really expect anyone to make an offer but thought its worth a try. 3 of us started playing whatever card omaha (i.e deal cards until u want to stop) on the plane. The standard game was about 12card. I got rivered so many times on the plane when id managed to somehow get the pots locked to 4 or 5 outs. Lost a £/E2k pot as the plane was landing and the stewardess' were going mental b/c we wouldnt close the tables. We were playing mixed currency so a good strategy would have been to hoard sterling, didnt thnk of at the time lol.

I have a friend who has an awesome set up so ill see if i can try a night or two a week at his. Or I can go to the oneway office in the day and 12table. Its about a 20min drive away so buying a car would be a big help. this ones really confused me and fucked my head a little, b/c iv taken such a weak line idk if he ramming something like A4(unlikely as i have 44) or low set or BDF as he accepted check on turn. I pretty sure overbets in comps are more likely to be bluffs. Ive played a few decent live comps this month with buyins from £250-500. To coin some of my favorites from the live arena this month 'well I was thinking youre at it, you always are how was I supposed to know you had kings'. This gem comes after Iv reraised the table rock from 1200 to 4k @2/400 to be met by a shove of 31k total from a monkey (in terms of play, brains and physical attributes; well maybe more of a gorilla for the latter) becasue id called his massive overbet (2.5k squeeze from SB on 150/300)previously with Q5 to take him off his 'hand' postflop (hand in cloud cookoo land for the overbet being a low pp or A8-AJ). This pot was actually hilarious b/c he goes mental when ppl call him with garbage. We were so deep I figured as im IP ill outflop or out play him.
Q5dd flop 467dd GIN! (I think i might have shouted that i definately would have in cash game). Im expecting a c bet but it doesnt come so I figure he wants to chR. turn pairs the 7he bets 1k I min raise he makes it 6k more. I flat to a) hit my draw or my q or my 5 or b) miss and bluff when he checks. I river a 5 and check my showdown value behind. 'Iv missed (A9). Iv hit the 5. What you stupid little shit, why do you have a 5? I got Q 5 lee.' (who the fuck are you to question what cards I play) I obviously dont say this last bit as he would put me in the bottom of the marina.
Anyway Iv put him on mega tilt and I suppose I want him to shove 31k in on2/400 with AQ HOWEVER I now firmly believe that I will be folding KK preflop to a shove of this nature when there is such a good structure and so much play left. Whilst I am 70% to win a 60k pot with 24 remaing and the ft av is only 50k the monkey does not deserve a 30% shot when I can take 30 small pots off him provided he lasts that long.

Next has to be another comp 80runners ft gets paid sb vs bb on with 13 left jq tanks I look at one ace and say theres no shame in folding. look at a second ace and he declares those magical words of 'Im all in' preceded by 2 jacks and a queen on the flop. Inspite of how wonderful it is to grind to a good position, be the best player left standing with chips and have them forcefully removed from my deadly kung fu like grip.

When you win one and youve played well and not been all in and behind. I think its the best feeling in poker. That and making peoples heads spin with hero calls/lay downs. Tournaments also make poker more of a 'sport' or competition and I think they are they best incentive for getting new players into playing poker.
Think how you started playing poker. Did you learn by jumping into cash games? (I imagine so as they teach us the most, becasue you always remember what youve learned if youve lost money). Or did you play little freezeouts amoungst friends? Id imagine most did not play cash games straight away, im sure the idea of only losing a fixed amount and finishing when there is a victor is a key reason why people begin to play and would be put off by the thought of a game with no tangeable end. So we need tournaments inorder to keep fresh money coming into the poker economy.

On a side note think about how good the action is on cash tables at live festivals when ppl have sat around tight for hours and want to let some steam off or are on tilt from a beat. How quality would it be if poker sites start promos where ppl who play in festivals like ftops/wcoop get entry to another tournament if they play 100 hands on a cash table. They would get the rake to cover the entry for the comp and some more money would enter the community.... (obviously a very crude

Anyway after having what was a 4k downswing over the last 2weeks(ish a bit less than that I think; time not money ) I thought Id see if i could muster up a couple of nice resutls over the weekend.

The first thing I see ECOOP #6 1k PLO 6max 10k stack. beauty. I played it in the summer and bubbled. But it was great value as it was quite soft and there was a 67k overlay or something ridicilous. This time I play 50R w/ 3min blinds I pot commited at 150 b/c there was 10 seat and 27 left so I end up rebuying for 1BB a few times until im lucky enough to get a stack. good spend of 550. I bust before break when I have bottom two and the NFD v topset. for 2/3 my stack then run OESFD and TP into NFD. I summary I played like a fish and deserved to bust. but i nearly clicked that 1k rebuy button b/c there were 1 decent plyr and 4 customers on that table and theyd seen me play like a maniac. As I was checking out the prizepool v gtd it timed out. Probably a bad thing considering what happens later.

I play about 4 deepstack comps on ipoker and a few of the big gtd on stars. I make the money in the 109 and ft the 25. excellent to ft the comp with the smallest prize.
kathson took 40k off me with AJ vs 1010 when we were both leaders on the bubble. for some reason he/she wouldnt leave me alone and thought i was a fish. s/he always made massive overbets with overpairs so when i min raise 1010 LP and i get repopped i call and check a J high flop. and face a pot bet rather than an overshove. This was against the norm and i interpet it as 99/88/77 and shove. Then someone berates me for not shoving. I am conviced that my 4bet shove is being snapped off pre so there is no change in the outcome. kathson then says that s/hes not folding AJ to me preflop! LOLLOLLOL. I dont really like shoving underpairs to the board. As it only matters what I hold If I get called It is far better to just jam to random overs if you sense weakness as youll be 30% IF called by TP as opposed to 10% so I could have waited for a better spot. Then again in the particular instance i was pretty certain i was 90% favorite an probably inducing a fold. Now shortstacked i shove 75suited after waiting 2rounds to be the opener. kathson has aq i flop FD and GS on A high flop and turn flush. then this knocks me out

It took 3 hours for enough people to turn up to actually get a 300 sit down going(ended up being shorthanded. mainly becasue th dc table poached 2/3 players that table was wild by end of night shoulda sat there but I wanted to play holdem and they wouldnt play superstud either which makes me LOL b/c the guy with all the money wanted to play it and its his worst game, why play dc if your not going to choose the game that gives you the biggest edge over the guy with a stack?)

So I played the student £5 rebuy for a laugh. My other housemate whos a complete fish shoves into my BB with 96 I look at an ace and call he hits the flop and went mental. I really wanted to get him by the river but FML. He bubbled so there is some justice in the world haha.

Line up for the 300 is two of the guys who were online the night before, and adam was having it tonight (see previous post) I play like an absoulte rock for 1st hr which is unheard of, I usually like to losen everyone up and lose a few buyins lol. I flop the nuts with J10 789AQ adam has 10Q and call 142 on the river after 42 on the turn. I missed the opportunity to slowroll him which actually tilted me bit! He told me he had Q10cc and had river a pair.
I play AQ like a retard on AK10 flop and min raise turn then find a J on river to chop vs adams QJ.
Then he starts playing like a cock and I 3bet from 20 to 80 w/ AQ, nick tanks for 30seconds before shipping another 150. I berate adam when he folds and he says ' **** off im ahead of you' so obv he has a pair meaning none of my outs are gone and theres noway nick is tanking with AK. But I have that bad feeling where I know ill lose and I need to start listening to this feeling more. As im now getting over 2-1 I dont fold and brick all 5 cards vs nicks 99. This puts me from up a buyin to nearly even and annoyed with myself for repopping even though I thought id lose the hand????

Adam continues to play like a muppet and after a flop of 9 65 gets check thru I bet the 5 on the turn with J9. Two callers. river Ace. matt checks adam shoves for 90. Whilst im thinking matts starts off on one. 'come on rob i know u have the 5 stop trying to induce my call blah blah blah if u dont call in 5 seconds im not calling you.' At this point I think matt must have me beat but im beating adam. so I wait for him to count down and leave it 2 seconds after he says zero bofore i count out 90 and put it in. He says god u want me to call so bad and mucks the ace face up. LOL.

Next hand i have 66 and an extra 300 in ammunition for a flop of 642. we all check to nick who cbets 20, then 40, and adam raises to 120 on the turn with is a 4. I figure adams just hung himself and flat to let nick in. he calls with what he said after was A 3 LOL. river 5 I bet 175 nick folds and adam pays me.
I donk a few small pots and try to vb bluff adam which i know never never ever works so idk why i bother.
Then were 3 handed and he keeps floating me and checking blind and catching the river when he has complete air and i have him crushed. INFURIATING. Then i get the bastard with the beauty that is the mighty seven deuce.
SB BB i rasie to £25 he makes it £50 (cheers for letting me know ur massive btw) and were both about £1k deep.

The bet was about ~270 he goes ffs i dont know what ur doing here and calls. Tbh wlist I could with an extra £500 i feel a little uncomfortable taking 1k off him in a pot. Maybe im too much of a nice guy but I find it hard to skin my friends for a lot of money in one go, even if they would do it to me. I think I really need to work on taking serious ammounts ofmoney off people I like as its not the first time this has happened.

last pot worth noting i have 84clubs flop J106 cc ali bets 50 call call. turn 8 ali bets 100. at this point my inner monologue says shove he is FOS. however ali is a rock so I fugure he probably has KQ and he he is a stubborn guy which is hugely +ev for me except for when I shove in pots like this and he calls and catches the off suit 9 for another £600 or 1.5x the pot. I dont shove I flat he catches 9 i fold disgusted saying i was ahead on the turn and he was like so look at MY hand . LOL what a fish. He would also fire third barrel on river if he missed (to his credit he is good at applying pressure when he thinks ppl are weak) but any low card or board pairing and I snap off his bet with the 8 but its not to be
I finish up 3 buyins alla £900 which im happy about as it ended up being small game. next weeks should be a lot bigger.

ONLINE I drop ~500 playing HU PLO which now puts me down 80 for the month. I was up 2k a week ago!

On this hand I was going to bet half the pot on the turn but I wanted to get it all in by the river. I make it a lttle more than half. then on the river I think im guaranteed 152 so unsure if theres any point iin shoving the extra $48. the fact he has T3 means hes stacking off either way but if he only has Tx is it worth shoving the extra $48 when the pot is just less than my shove? I think my error is on the turn if I make it 62 the pot becomes 214 leaving me 1) 190 to ship which looks more appealing than calling 200. 2) less than the pot. playing live I usually map out all three streets and adapt if i have to but...

Last nightI I still felt like aids, but seeing vicky made me feel a lot better she made me an awsome steak pie and mash for dinner then we headed to the comedy night. There were 3 acts and an introducer/host. He was hilarious. the main act, kent valentine was pretty good too, but as soon as he walked in some stupid woman heckled him about his hair (WTF?) and he was like this goes up in top 5 wierd starts. would be good to see how he leads off a gig where he gets on with it. He did a wicked annecdote about picking up a pram in london and ending up pretending to have a child in it for about 45 minutes on a train when a woman had helped him carry it down the stairs. And another about making napalm. Iv had a look for him on youtube, hes done over 1500 gigs but there isnt much footage which is a shame. Id strongly recomened to any of you to go to a comedy night its nice chilled out evening which completely takes your mind off poker.

Now to business. In my last blog I mention the 'local private cash tables online'. These have been ridicilous and are a definate +ev for my bankroll. I know every player inside out. and whilst they are a collection of the better regulars I play with they are recreational. Except roberto whos a FT pro. On the first session 3 weeks ago I played 2/4NHL and 2/4PLO. I finished even off holdem after running a little below ev. Omaha was ridicilous. Marko was in for 5300 and somehow got it all back pretty sure pots like this help the fucker!

Shortly after the game beraks I take ~$500 off marko in 1/2 hr of HU.

So just as I was leaving for the club tonight my housemate asks about the cash game I say he can play on my account. no loss 50% of wins, but dont take the piss. come 11pm im home with vicky and hes winning 600 on 1/2NLH. I encourage a flip with 66 for $80 he loses. Vicks leaves about 12 cause she lives half hr away and has a meeting in the morning an extra 1/2 hr away from hers.
So I sit in. at this point marko is moving all in every flop. he has AA cracked by K 10, HEM has him as being stuck 7 buyins. I get Ak utg and raise to 6. this happens. slav says dont gamble with him man theres no need.
