Since there is a relatively large number of Leggo members in Vegas ATM, I'd like to hear some advice from you all on things like:

1) Best Steak House
2) Best Club
3) Best Overall Restaurant
4) Best Show
5) Best Card Room
6) Best Value Restaurant
7) Best Hotel
8) Best Buffet
9) Best Breakfast or Best 24 Hour Breakfast
10) Best Hamburger
11) Best Lunch Spot
12) Best Sandwich
13) Best Dive Bar

Any and all advice on how to make Vegas the best experience possible would be greatly appreciated.

I think collectively we will have good ideas...

I'll go first:

High End Restaurants:

Best Steakhouse I've been too: Craftsteak in MGM. Overall quality of the meal made it top 5 of all time, no question. Some other restaurants I've been too and recommend are 1) Nine Steakhouse in the Palms. Awesome setting and ambiance and great service. Celebrities here quite often as well. We dined with Chuck Liddell. Price wasn't TOO bad either. 2) Alize in the Palms. It's at the top of the Palms so the view is incredible. Food was excellent and priced well. Def bring your girls to this spot. I did. 3) Fiamma Trattoria in MGM. I've had 2 large party dinners with Leggo Members here because they have great food and good "Chef Tasting" menus for decent prices. I really like the decor and the prices for a group.

Best Value Restaurants

Brio Tuscan Grill in Town Square Mall. This spot has a happy hour with absolutely ridiculous prices on their drinks, appetizers and desserts. The prices are so low that I am sure they are losing money on this happy hour, but obviously it's working because I just reco'd the restaurant to you. The restaurant is very nice and the food is excellent for the price.

Yardhouse: If you haven't been here, you should go. We went on a recommendation from Jaymesbond last year and I think we wound up going at least 5 or 6 times. They have something like 200 beers on tap some of which are really exotic and delicious. Their happy hour also has great prices on excellent appetizers. This is a fantastic spot to watch NBA finals on the weekend or a baseball game or whatever.

Best Sushi: Is and always has been Naked Fish.

Best Buffet: Bellagio is still best overall IMO. Very expensive though. Paris Buffet is also good with a very large variety of good food and a crepe station as well. Ship that. Best advice - Check Mirage Buffet. They have a bar and no matter how long the line is outside (sunday can be an hour and a half and weekday dinner can be 45) you can skip the whole line and tell them you are going to the bar. You can sit right at the bar and the bartender will give you a place setting, serve you drinks and you can watch various sports on their flat screens while pigging out. Also the mark of a quality buffet in Vegas IMO is whether or not they carry King Crab Legs AND whether or not they pre-cut them for easy eating. Bellagio and Mirage do. The Paris Crepe station makes up for not.

Best Show: The original Mystere - The first Cirque du Soleil show that has been given a lot of credit for the rebuilding and revival of Vegas. I have seen it 3 times. It is fantastic. If you enjoy the arts and appreciate aesthetics, you will be very happy with this one.

Best Card Room: All have their merits, but I still like Bellagio. Bellagio has a certain customer base that makes for excellent fishy games. Card room is ALWAYS busy which may or may not be a good thing at times. Floor men are brash and waitresses are busy, but if you want to make money, I recommend this spot.

That's all I got for now. Please post here with other recommendations.

Also, I thought it would be wise to post some warnings I have for the Vegas scene.

(All advice here is from experience)

1) There will be guys hunting for poker players and young ballers alike that call themselves "hosts" or something to that effect. They will promise to get you in the club, bottle service, the whole 9...but at the end of the night, they will give everything they got to get you in a limo and take you to the Bunny Ranch where they will make $200 to $300 per patron that they bring in.

2) Do not mention these words while walking on the strip: blow, coke, e, ecstacy, meth, crank, speed, crack, weed, chronic, etc. If you do there is a good chance you will be followed by A) A drug dealer, B) A guy posing as a drug dealer who will then try to rob you, C) A cop posing as a drug dealer.

3) Don't buy anything from individuals in the Casino.

4) There are individuals who wait outside the club and offer you a ride home as a taxi service but obviously not licensed. I personally used one once when the taxi stand line was about an hour wait. He charged me the same amount as a Taxi but was so aggressive in trying to get a tip (before we arrived to my house that I was uncomfortable showing him where I live. Probably better just to wait for a legit taxi.

will post more as I think of it....

I got a few offers from guys and I really appreciated that. However, the offers were both contingent upon FTP monies being released before my arrival to Vegas and of course it doesn't look like that is going to happen any time soon.

I want to put in a month of grinding at 40+ hours per week (possibly more depending on games) playing 2/5. I have extensive history playing live and a very good work ethic and think this could be a good opportunity to make some money on both sides.

I have been able to start pulling some money off of AP but its a slow process. I will be rolled for 1/2 but I think the 2/5 games are just as soft and would rather grind those with a 50/50 split.

Here are some of the comments from the last blog post regarding my search for a live stake and I can provide a list of references as well if needed.

I've seen:

1) The Wire
2) Sopranos
3) True Blood
4) Spartacus (both seasons)
5) Boardwalk Empire
6) Band of Brothers
7) The Pacific

Things I haven't seen but are contemplating:

1) Deadwood
2) Six Feet Under

Also, doesn't have to be premium channel. Any series will do.

Klink's post inspired me.

I started DJing in 2000 and went hard for 2 years building up to my own weekly gig for 100-300 people and opening or closing (or filling in) for world famous DJs such as The Wicked Crew, Julius Papp, Carlos, Rick Preston, DJ Sprung and others. I have always had an affinity for electronic music but stopped DJing for a number of reasons in 2004.

5 years later, I heard a song by Deadmau5 called "Jaded". I must have listened to it 100 times while driving to Mexico and it even inspired me to start DJing again. I had to learn CDJs now instead of my Technics and had to acquire and transport equipment a country away but as long as the end of the road lead to me DJing live and dropping this track at some point, it was all worth it. My DJing revival was short lived but fun for all (although some would argue I needed to play more hip-hop [all us house DJs will cringe simultaneously at that remark]).

I decided to record my practices and made this mix along the way. The more I listened to it the more I liked it. I could break down every track and every mix, every sequence and every electronic noise or sample, but I will simply tell you about "Jaded". It starts at the 48:20 mark and goes to about the 53:30 mark. I thought it mixed in great with the song preceding it and I was real happy with the timing because the end of the preceding song and beginning of Jaded can be tough to control. Of course the goal is to make it sound like 1 continuous track made up of 3 parts: 1) the preceding song, 2) the mix of the two songs together and 3) the following song. I thought I accomplished this well with this mix.

For some reason, I can never get tired of this song.

And I perfectly understand and expect most of you to not even listen to the whole track through. Music is funny and perfect in that way.

So here's the entire mix which I've posted before downloadable in MP3 format if you wish. Full track listings included. Please feel free to rock the entire mix, but I won't feel bad if you skip to the 48:20 mark.

Cheers.

Absofuckinlutely no requests.

Although it has always been a personal policy of mine to never request a stake, some very major occurrences have beget a need for funds for Vegas.

90% of my roll is locked up on AP atm. 2 days ago, I was able to change all of my info to my residence in Mexico and therefor start pulling the money off. However, I can only pull $250 at a time and it is only allowed 1 week after the cashout is processed effectively only permitting 2 to 3 cashouts per month. The process is very slow and I won't be able to have enough cash on hand to effectively play the good 2/5 games.

I am currently rolled to play the 1/2 games, but I think the 2/5 games are a much better value given rake and competition. I am looking for a live stake to be able to play in 2/5 games that can be very profitable. I plan on playing 30-40 hours per week and am willing to book a standard (or good deal) for someone who can back me.

I played live for 2 years before switching to online and grind quite a bit live every year in Vegas. I have won substantial amounts playing live the last 3 years in a row at the WSOP. I have a very strong work ethic and do not partake in activities that would hinder my ability to play 30-40 hours per week of strong poker. I think there are several Leggo members here that can vouch for me.

I can also offer an option to somehow insure my stake with my AP money. As funny as that sounds, the money is coming off, albeit slowly.

My house will be located on the same street as other very prominent Leggo members and coaches and I will have a car in Vegas for easy access to and from the strip.

Please PM if any interest.

So April 8th was the start of an interesting time for me. Back in October, I signed a year long lease for my place in La Paz with the understanding that I would have to be out of the house for 2 weeks in April so that my landlord could have some friends come from England and stay for a while. They offered me free rent for the month (but out only 2 weeks obv) or rent but I get to stay at their house for 2 weeks. I took the latter and it was the right move.

I left La Paz not knowing what to expect and drove south for about 3 hours along dirt roads. You could always see the ocean which was nice. I arrived at their huge house which is totally solar powered.

They had a great view from the courtyard area as well

I was ultra happy because they did not sell their exercise equipment after all and snap bought it off of them. I used it while I was there and now it is being shipped to my house in La Paz. It's not great but its perfectly adequate for my backyard and is exactly what i was looking for.

The owner of the house (my landlord) offered to take me out on the ATVs and show me the ropes.

They had 2 great dogs that just hop on the back of the ATV and ride the whole way until you slow down. Then they jump off and sprint the beach for miles it seems like. Here's a shot of one Ginger at the beach:

My girlfriend came down to visit me for a weekend while I was there and we also had a great time.

It was our 1 year dating anniversary so she made me dinner:

Love that girl.

2 days later, Zach arrived. I met Zach through 2+2 when I was offering my room for rent. It was interesting because I know he had no idea what to expect out of all this and to his credit, he basically jumped right in. I got him from the airport and I'm sure he was a little sketched as we drove an hour on a dirt road to seemingly no where past cows and cactus. Once we arrived I'm sure he was relieved to know the owners of the house were also from Vancouver and that they had Canadian TV via satellite for the Canucks game. We hit the beach immediately and it was a great time.

The next day we went snorkeling for a few hours where we promptly got sunburned pretty bad. The spot was great and as you can see by the photos of the water, it was pretty ideal for snorkeling.

We also boogie boarded that afternoon/evening. I hadn't done this in about 10 years. The ocean and beach were about as perfect as it gets. Not single person in sight. Perfect waves (some a little too big). Very soft sand and not a single rock anywhere. Cool water that was a little tough to get in but felt amazing once adjusted. We were both pretty sore after that. Some of the waves kicked my ass.

Enter Reefy. We picked up reefpoo from the airport and it was game time from the get as per usual with reef. We purchased plenty of alcohol and went to our hotel. Here's a pic of us and the view from reef's room which was very nice:

We ate then hit the club hard:

The next day we lounged by the pool and stuff. I then gambled on a dinner sunset cruise for all of us. It turned out to be the funnest thing I've done in cabo. They said it was an open bar and I expected maybe some beer and some well tequila, rum and MAYBE vodka. But man did this boat come through. They had us obliterated by the time we left the port and they just kept coming.

Reef and Zach on drink one:

3 X this little guy and you have our boat:

Us three with some drinks in hand and scenic Cabo in the background:

There was a live band who played a great mix of songs. Reef requested Santeria by Sublime and then he hit the dance floor solo. Wasn't long before some ladies joined him:

Zach was heavy gaming on some fellow canadians. Here he is in action. If you see him in the future, make sure you ask him "where are the Canadian chicks, eh?

The boat took great care of us. Food was great, drinks were non-stop and very very strong. Service was good. Music and band were great. Will definitely do that again.

Obv Zach agrees that the boat took care of us (8:30 pm):

After a nap and some tacos, we hit Squid Rowe. It was off the wall and for those of you who have been, you know what I mean. I only got one shot there as my iphone ran out of battery, but here it is: Reef in action:

Had a great time over all. Looking forward to some quiet grind time now.

Going to get all accounts set up to flow through my mexican bank account for obvious reasons and really try to get the ball rolling again before Vegas. Gonna be so interesting to see what happens to poker between now and then as well as the effect on Vegas.

Amurophil arrives next week so that should be fun.

d2themfi is renting my house and car from me for the month that I am in vegas. This was great so now I am not stuck paying rent for a month I am not here and I can fly to vegas and rent a car instead. he is also possibly looking for a roomate for the house so pm him if interested.

Time to get to work on the poker game....

Alright well I arrived to my landlords house way out on the eastern side of the Los Cabos Cape. I mean it is WAY the hell out here. Totally off the grid. No phone, no cable. Whole house is solar powered:

And the do have satellite internet which is totally grindable. They've got some great dogs. Border Collies. This one is Ginger:

Nice view from the courtyard:

It was ultra windy the first 2 days here. It was actually cold and I found myself not doing much but grinding and watching movies which was awesome in itself (right Robin? [minus the grinding]). Okay...and napping a lot. I was happy to find that the buyers of their home gym thing had backed out and it is still here. I have worked out twice on it and it works great. I am probably going to buy this from them and ship it to La Paz.

On to the good stuff. The owner of the place offered to show me around the beaches on ATV today. It was nothing short of spectacular. Just miles and miles of perfect beaches without a single person. No screaming kids, no cars, no fences, no trash....nothing. Just insanely immaculate.

The girl comes this weekend and I think she is going to love it. A new guy, Zach, who I met through 2+2 comes next Tuesday and then Amurophil shortly after. It's been a totally fun sweat watching Amurophil at the NAPT Mohegan Sun. ONE TIME!

Poker has been going okay. After insane amounts of volume the previous 2 months, I was totally burnt. Still am a bit but the time I put in now is quality. I'm not forcing myself to play and not continuing past the point of boredom or tilt. It's paying off: Only got in 37K hands over the last month as opposed to 137K the months before:

Next few weeks should be pretty epic.
