Just been taking it pretty easy. I just realized it's not a race to grind grind grind I'm a professional poker player, but a good part of that is enjoying yourself and not overworking yourself.

I haven't allowed any mistakes to really bother me and I'm playing a lot tighter and just finding easy spots better than all that marginal mumble jumble. It's been nice to avoid the marginal really crappy spots. I am, however, starting to loosen up as the month goes progresses. Part of the tightness has just been to make me more comfortable/less emotional, but also because I've been table selecting like crazy and finding great tables. I think last month I had been pretty lazy with regards to table selection, especially when playing 7 or 8 tables. Now I notice instantly when a table is getting crappy.

I have a RakeUpdate freeroll tomorrow at 2pm, but we'll see if I play it. The Cubs play at 2 as well, so maybe I'll just grind the donkament on the laptop in front of the TV until I bust.

Cheers

Either my sleeping habits or my game of choice needs to change. I rarely see 1/2 games on UB good enough to sit in before 5 or 6pm Central time. So, my current schedule has looked something like this

12pm-1pm breakfast+email+surfing forums
1-2 video
lunch
2:30-3:30 video
3:30-5 workout

and then we go from there with grinding+dinner+relaxing at random times

Now for me personally I think I am much more focused and productive during the day in regards to poker, so it seems silly to spend my best times of the day watching videos and working out. That said, it would make me a very marginal winner to play during this time. So...

Option 1: Wake up at like 2 or 3 instead of 12
Option 2: Start playing PLO during the day

Personally, I feel like it's impossible to stay on a 2pm sleep schedule. One weekend away at home with family will completely destroy that and I'll feel like crap. Also, when it gets to be winter I'll have about a grand total of 2-3hrs of daylight. That's not healthy for the brain/body.

Most of these goals are related to one thing...structure.

Now many people feel structure is the last thing they need, but for me I just really need a game plan to keep myself motivated and make sure I accomplish the things I should.

So...

-50k hands NL200
-Stop constantly changing games, levels, and sites based on emotions
-No fish chasing at 2/4 3/6 & 5/10

DURING SESSION
-4 tabling unless games are goot, then 5-6 is ok *** (already broke this tonight, 7 tables of juiciness, but I think I need to stick to less)
-Think about spots and not just bet b/c I can
-Structured sessions, no degen grinding when stuck multiple BIs + tired

POST-SESSION
-Work on the mental aspect of becoming a grinder
-Analyze hands at the end of the day (don't analyze during session, just mark them for later)
-Get better at being my own coach
-More sweat sessions with 2+2/PD members, very helpful

HEALTH
-Bike 5x/week, 3x lift
-Good sleep schedule
-Eat less junk food

Hey all,

Many of you probably don't know me, so I'll give an overview. My 2+2 SN is same as here (LT22) but I also posted for about a year under the SN jonyy6788.

I was born, raised, and currently live in Iowa. I just recently graduated from college with a degree in Biology, but have chosen to play poker full-time for at least the next year. I don't have a GF and can't see having one in the near future. I eventually want to go to graduate school and become either a physical therapist or chiropractor. Both have their upsides and I'm trying to figure that out over the next couple of months.

On to my poker story...

Between freshman and sophomore years of college (2005) I began playing home $5 donkaments with friends. I then began my online career at Pacific Poker with no bonus, no rakeback, and 1 table at a time. I would play the $5 or $10 SNG or sometimes NL10 full ring. I busto'ed my small debit card deposits multiple times but then finally was able to start playing NL25 full ring when I probably had like a 10bi bankroll. Spring 2006 I actually had a NL25 bankroll to my name and started whoring out Party/Empire when they had monthly bonuses. Summer 2006 I found 2+2 and started to actually think critically about poker, but went where I found easy money (casino bonus whoring). Fall 2006 I just crushed Bodog NL25 full ring, but a couple of my buddies had found a new revolution (6max!). They had just moved into the same apartment as Cardrunners pro Stacysmom001. He taught them a lot about poker and they have since returned the favor to me. If there's one person to credit with my success in poker it would definitely have to be Stacysmom001. I played primarily NL50 from Winter 2006 until Summer 2007. I was then able to move up and crush NL100 in Sept 2007 thru December 2007. I have since been beating up NL200 for about 5ptbb/100. I also work as a video instructor on a smaller site making videos anywhere from NL25-NL200.

I just graduated from college near the end of May and my first couple weeks went very well. I made about 3k in the last week of May and then started out June up 4k but it all came crashing back down to an even month. I really lost a lot of motivation to grind and my mindset was just awful. I'm starting this blog in hopes of documenting my plan for how to turn it around at the poker tables and allow you guys the chance to follow my progress as I hit the tables starting tomorrow.
