Whattup guys, after having spent about 2 weeks in chicago/northwest indy/indy playing some silly poker tournaments and clowning around(making moves towards being the best mario kart wii player of all time) we touched down in Austin 2 days ago for the south by southwest film/music/interactive festival. I'm here mainly to try and get a better grasp on some business stuff but also to check out some films and get my drink on.
Yesterday we saw the premiere of the 'The People vs George Lucas', a documentary in which many star wars fans voice their opinions about the disappointment of Episode 1 and other various decisions Lucas has/had made that upset the masses. I thought it was really good despite the fact that I don't know a whole ton about star wars, though I've seen all the episodes. It's funny though that having not appreciated episodes 4, 5, and 6(originals) as a kid, I was able to enjoy episodes 1, 2, and 3(prequels) because they were reasonable enough films to me. Even more funny is that all the hardcore fans absolutely HATE Jar Jar Binks, and having heard the reasons behind it they certainly are justified...but when I first saw the prequels Jar Jar was one of my favorite characters.
He certainly appeals to kids with his funny looking character and voice etc. One memorable moment from the documentary was when someone asks one of the bigger fan's daughters how she feels about Jar Jar she basically says how much she loves him and how funny he is etc, then they pan over to her dad and she says, 'Daddy don't you like him?' and he kind of says in a slow sarcastic tone, 'Well honey, certainly not as much as you do.'
I'm off for now to check out some more SXSW stuff, be good fellas.
