First I saw Wall-E and I was blown away by the humor, the visuals, the story and the wow-moments during certain scenes and revelations. Then I saw Ratatouille (also from Pixar) and the same thing happened again!

I rated both of these 5 stars on movielens. This site tracks your ratings and picks movies for you based on collaborative filtering.

Here are all my ratings so far:

pikkupossu,

I glanced over the ghost in the shell rating today too and wondered that one myself. I think my thinking was this: when rating a movie I have to take everything into consideration. Particularly it's mythological stance, i.e. what is the worldview it is proposing? What are the deeper messages that are conveyed? GITS is obviously fantastic insofar a philosophical and practical exploration of the digitized mind. But I can't give it 5 stars when it is so extremely in support of status quo terrorist boogeyman scare. And in part one, where they show it was ultimately a problem born from a government institution (which is a very common theme, and an interesting one at that), they don't break it down as a fraud, unlike in Serenity for example.

DirtySlime, Seabeast,

It pains me that people don't see how corrupt that movie is and devoid of any positive values. I guess I should do a full blown review of it (on youtube).

the first one might be a bit generic in terms of government scandal and terrorist stuff. but section 9 is all about dealing with unique threats. the spiritual part was superb and does raise a bunch of questions about what the future could hold

the second one is just so damned gorgeous to watch. im so bias in that sense if OP can argue that wall-e had nice visuals, GITS2 blows it out of the water.

ratatouille was a great movie also, got to watch it on a flight to europe, made the flight less of a /wrists experience.

Wall-E, Ratatouille and Cars are by far the three worst Pixar movies. I can't believe I wasted money on seeing them at the cinema. After Wall-E's sick reviews I was expecting something amazing but it was so disappointing. It wasn't funny AT ALL if you are older than 5 years old, the interaction between the robots wasn't 'majestic' as one review put it, but rather retarded. "Wall-E", "Eva!". I feel sorry for people who liked this movie.

Ratatouille was disgustingly bad and without exaggeration I didn't laugh once the entire movie. Compared to all time classics such as Toy Story 2, The Incredibles etc, even Finding Nemo I am shocked at how the general public liked these movies so much. Pixar could make a story about a family of turds that was just toilet humour the whole time and people would probably go and see it in droves. In fact, **** that I'd go and see it.

As for giving TDK 1 star well there goes your credibility.....

Corrupt and devoid of positive values? Well first of all I disagree, second of all why should that have anything to do with whether a movie is good or not? I am beginning to see why you like superficial, shallow mulh like Wall-E so much.
