I intend to make a living from poker and log my thoughts and progress here. I have a small bankroll suitable for .25/.50 where I expect a good winrate based on a few hundred thousand hands already played online.
Today I played 4 tables of 6 max. Before each days play begins I set out my goals. Today's were:
-Play a solid style. Steal blinds often in unopened pots and value bet often until given reasons to slow down.
-Be mindful of relative hand strength as opposed to absolute hand strength. consider the size of villain's bluff range Vs his value range when facing a decision.
-Play 1200 hands
I played 1284 hands at 20/17 with a 3bet of 3%.
The 3 bet stat is much lower than usual. I remember flatting AK on a couple of occasions. I avoided raising up suited connectors preferring to play flops in position.
I found myself getting raised off my hand in blind Vs blind spots postflop. It left me feeling I need more emphasis on pot control when villain is more suspicious than usual.
I think i messed up a spot when I turned a boat in a good sized pot. I raised the turn when call shove/call river may be more profitable, especially as I could represent a missed flush draw.
I paid someone off due to to subtle tilt. loose opponent raised IP on J9x two tone and I get it in with AA vs J9s. A few hands later I have TPTK on on KJx and he raises just over min. I think, call and tank shove his half pot bet on a safe turn. Two pair again. I know I could get away from this hand given history as I think his bluff % is tiny on the turn. These are the perils of getting frustrated and becoming attached to a one pair hand OOP.
Goals for tomorrow are to gradual increase 3 bet frequency motivated by the profit that comes from an opponent that will call and play fit or fold. I will try to be mindful of creeping frustration. I will play 1200 hands.
