So I just finished up a 7 hour grind that included a trip outside for a fire drill (yay for losing and 80 sec timebank while disconnected). At the first break in the money I was 27 of 309 thanks to a nice little suckout just before the break. The hand:

At 150/300 I open JJ OTB to 800, SB calls, BB makes it 2800, I call, SB folds

Flop comes 456 rainbow, he bets 4000, I make it 10275, he tank calls.

As I'm trying to figure out just how strong he is (since in a 4max he's obviously 3betting enormously wide) a nice little Jack comes on the turn. I tank shove 19k into 27k after he checks (I cover by less than a thousand) he snaps with QQ and the river bricks.

Pretty boring from there, I get tons of nice hands preflop that always whiff the flop while someone else hits. Had Craig sweating me live which was nice because he never seemed panicked about how much I was chipping down, but I still couldn't hit. Then the fire alarm goes off and I go about 20 mins disconnecting and reconnecting, which didn't help. Then I got moved from a very weak table to a table with PokerSkiBum and Alex Kravchenko, missed flops for a couple hours, and it was gg wcoop. Did cash in 68th place for just over $1200, which I'm happy with given that it was only the second tourney I've ever played at the $215 level.

Probably gonna keep working primarily on my cash game play with the random Sunday Million here and there. Hopefully this tourney marks the end of my cash game downswing!

So I've moved up to 50nl this week. Was a little irritated at running bad for the first 1.5k hands or so (1.5k hands for me can be like 3 sessions b/c I have trouble staying really focused 4 tabling for more than an hour). I was down about 4 buy-ins and wondering if it was the move up or just variance. Today I had a nice little upswing. Played about 1200 hands and finished up over 8 buy-ins, and only had one really bad suckout in my favor (I call a small 3bet with 77 and he jams like almost 2x the pot on TT6ss, looked too much like AK for me to resist; he rolls JJ and I hit a 7 on the river). I ran good in terms of out-overpairring people and such but I've been happy with my play as well. Probably will post some hands in the forums in the coming days to see if anyone else agrees .

Currently grinding it up at 25nl on FTP and Stars. For some reason, I am beating Stars at a considerably higher rate (28bb/100 over 1375 hands) than I am FTP (0.51bb/100 over 1655 hands lol). So, through about 3000 total hands in the past week I am up 8 buy-ins total, a pretty good start I think. I may be running a touch on the nitty side (about 20/15) but that's probably a product of not being completely comfortable with postflop play and hand reading at this point. Hopefully with more work I will only have better results. I did take down a couple large pots this evening, interstingly enough on FTP. Thoughts on the play are appreciated, but for now I'm just happy I shipped the monies .

So poker hasn't gone too great this summer, but I've been working on it/watching a lot of vids and think that I am playing better as the summer progresses. Will post some hands and results at a later date, but for now just trying to grind.

I played golf today and broke par for the first time all summer, which is satisfying because I had been discouraged about my game for awhile but had felt things starting to click recently. Shot 38 on the front nine, then birdied 10, 11, and 12 and parred out for a nice little 71. So hopefully my poker game follows suit.

Gogo grindaments!

They would be the golf gods and the poker gods. I'm pretty much losing every hand I get all in as the favorite, and since I'm playing MTTs, one bad beat knocks you out. One especially frustrating beat was in a $55, 15k guaranteed in which I was short, like 25 bb, I raised 3 limpers from the SB with AA and everyone calls. Flop comes KJ8 with 2 diamonds, not the best board for me to see. I jam about a PSB, one fold, one tank call, and another fold. The caller has AQo, no diamond, and obviously the turn is a 10. In my typical tilting style I type "misclick?" in the chatbox, to which he responds "thought you were bluffing" which is pretty lol considering the board texture and the preflop action, he only beats hands that I wouldn't reraise preflop and that have no draw. So yeah thats about how things are going on that end. I'm playing some of the MSOP events on FTP, I've cashed in 2 of 4 but just in the early levels, which is barely worth the time investment. Playing some 50nl HU as well, some of you may have seen my video with Craig and I'm trying to plug some leaks that he exposed.

On the golf end, I played in a qualifier for the State Amateur tournament today. I had myself down to a scratch golfer last summer, but I never really play during the school year and I haven't had a ton of time for it this summer, given our flooding and everything here in the upper midwest. I shot 82 with like 5 power lip outs and a bunch of other mediocre shots taking terrible bounces, but I really didn't deserve to have anything good happen for me. This tilts me though:

Scorecard this year:

Scorecard last year:

http://wsga.bluegolf.com/bluegolf/ws.../scorecard.htm

And we played a more difficult course last year. Oh well, back to working on both my games.

Hey all,

Decided to jump on the blog bandwagon. Watched some NBA playoffs tonight while sweating Craig in a $4.40 NLO rebuy on stars, he finished second and took some tough beats along the way. I decided to kill some time before bed with an FTP $26 90man KO sng, which I ended up winning . The $608 ($576 for the win + $32 for the KOs) was my most from a tourney in my short poker career, which has mostly consisted of small stakes MTTs. My family is heading to Europe for 2 weeks on Friday (golf and poker free, unfortunately) but I am looking at getting into 50nl cash when I get back.

Some hands from the final table:
