So poker in January was quite the rollercoaster. I was playing everything from .25/.50 all the way up to 10/20 (one session chasing a fish and I actually won). Jaymes ( JaymesBond) introduced me to mass multitabling on PS while we were in Mexico. I really like the idea of just playing pretty low variance, while winning some bucks and making mad bonuses. I got Robin to transfer me $3k on PS after I returned from Mexico, and since mid January I have been mass multitabling when the games are not good on UB. The games on UB are not very good during the morning and early afternoon so I wake up around 830-9 and play until class at 1130 then I try to get a session in when I get home, before playing UB at night. I set a goal to work the initial 3k (had about 300 on already so intial 3.3k) up to 4k and I'd take a few shots at 100nl. Well that started this weekend and things have been going very well as I have already worked that initial 3.3k up to 5.2k with only 2 sessions at 100nl. Here is the graph of my mass multitabling 50 and 100nl for the year:
So in real life, things have been going well. I had an interview for an internship with Bank of America today and I think it all went well except I butchered one question, the easiest of them all: So give me a current event in the world of finance today? I completely blanked and just bsed something about Obama and the TARP funds. I have a few more interviews lined up and really hope I can score an internship this summer. Yea I'd rather be in Vegas chillin with the Leggo crew but I have to think about my future as well, and this would definitely be a step in the right direction. I do plan on spending atleast a weekend in vegas though, anyone got any couch space?
Ordered the book called "Never Eat Alone" by Keith Ferrazzi and have started reading it. Pretty awesome book so far, hope the rest doesn't disappoint.
Good luck at the tables,
In the words of the one and only Robin_NoMas_Ripper,
Papa Out

Alright well since all of my poker friends seem to be from Leggo these days, I'm going to start posting again. I got lazy last year and my results showed this. 2010 will be different and I have set forth some pretty strict guidelines that I will adhere to but before I get to work this year, I gotta play a little first.
I will be heading to Mexico Monday with my twin brother. We will be meeting toocrispy and jaymesbond in Cabo then heading up to La Paz to lostnthesauce's place. I am really looking forward to this trip as I know it will be awesome. I've met Jaymes before when I went up to Turning Stone and stayed at his place so I know he's a true balla. Everyone else going seems cool as hell as well so all in all it should be an epic trip...TR to follow. I also have to post a Vegas TR sometime when I have more time to upload some pictures and what not...
Here's to a sick 2010!

Here is a link to me bungy jumping in Interlaken Switzerland. I don't now how to embed videos and I don't feel like looking it up so just click the link and watch or drop me a comment on how to put it straight on here and I will. Here it is:

So I made it home from Europe safe and sound a week ago (last Monday). We left Bremen, Germany by train and arrived in Amsterdam a few hours later. We had 6 hours in Adam before our flight left so we did the Amsterdam thing. Our plane left around 10:30pm and we arrived in Reyjavik, Iceland at 11:30pm local time (3 hour flight). Obviously it was still light out because it was Iceland. We were debating sleeping in the airport and finding a cheap hotel. This is when we made one of the best decisions of the trip and found a cheap hotel. It ended up being just across the airport and was an old military hanger filled with bunks. I think the 2 of us slept there for about 25$ total which was sweet. We woke up in the morning and headed home. Made it back into the States around 4pm. It was nice to be back and the first thing we did was grab some Dunkin Donuts, typical Americans. I think a month is the perfect time to be abroad if you're not staying in one place. After about a month things like the language barrier just get old. If I were living in a place for a few months it would be different because I'd have a permanent residence and would probably attempt to learn the language.
As far as the trip I'll give a quick recap. We flew into Amsterdam and chilled there for a few days. Went to Bremen, Germany where my study abroad was located. The first weekend there my brother and I went to Stockholm, Sweden which was a sick city. The next weekend we went to Intleraken, Switzerland which was the sickest city on the planet for anyone who enjoys being outdoors. The following weekend we just hung out in Bremen and took it easy. Everyone was running out of money so I just hung with everyone else. I ended up getting two A's in my "classes" if thats what you even want to call them.
So onto Switzerland. The first day there we went white water rafting on the Luchina (not actual spelling but what it sounds like). Stupid me I didn't buy the pictures but I definitely should have. The next day we went Canyoning which was SICK. It's basically starting at the top of a canyon and jumping, sliding, and rappelling down. This was such an awesome experience. At first your just hanging out in this little creek while they brief you and it doesn't look very impressive. Then you walk around the corner and are looking straight down this canyon with a raging river running through it. The very first thing you have to do is jump off of a 20ft waterfall into a very small pool below. Here's a few pictures:
Here is me jumping off of one of the first jumps. It was about a 20ft waterfall:
Here is me jumping off of another waterfall and posing for the camera:
Here is me and my brother. Which this one would have come out a little clearer:
This is me going down one of the numerous slides. Pictures don't do it justice:
Here I am jumping off the very last ledge. This pool was so small and had a waterfall right at the end that someone had to grab you and yank you out of the water so you didn't tumble down the waterfall:
This was our view from our hostel in Interlaken:
Me giving the thumbs up right before bungy jumping. The jump was 85m and THE scariest thing I've ever done in my life hands down:
No turning back now. Oh shit, oh shit!
Dangling:
Another view:
This is me right after I jumped off Canyon Jumping. Basically its a massive rope swing through the same canyon I had just bungy jumped into:
Swinging through the canyon. Notice the raging river beneath me. I ended up being about 15' above it while swinging.
Still Swinging:
One of the main reasons my brother and I went to Switzerland was to skydive in the Swiss Alps. Our first attempt was unsuccessful as the clouds and rain moved in. We were supposed to catch a plane from Milan Italy back to Germany on Sunday morning but come Saturday night we had still not Skydiven(?) yet. The weather looked good for Sunday so we said Fuck It and decided to skip our flight and go skydiving. Unfortunately they can't take the plane up on Sundays because the Church complains or something so we had to take a Helicopter. Still pretty cool, my first time on a Heli. One of the downsides though is that since the heli is so small you can only get a "hand cam" video rather than another jumper filming. So we went up in the Heli to 13000' and we jumped. Obviously I was tandem but it was simply amazing. The views were ridiculous. Jumping from a heli 13k' up wasn't nearly as scary as bungy jumping. The free fall lasted about 45 seconds then the glide down lasted a few minutes. Simply amazing. Unfortunately I got an email from the company a few days later saying my video had messed up and they weren't going to be able to get it to me. FUCK! Oh well, my twin brother's worked so I'll just steal some of his pics and say its me. I still got a few pics before and after. Here's me in my jumpsuit:
Here are a few more pics from the entire trip:

So I'm back in Germany now after a very solid weekend in Stockholm. The first night was pretty chill, the second we went to the casino for some live pokers, and last night was just and epic shitshow. Im going to see if I can recall some poker hands...first of all I could only get out 3500Kroner out of the ATM for some reason which was lame, but its only about $400. I started at the 50/50Kr table and bought in for 2500Kr (wanted to keep some incase i busted for some degeneracy). I started slow and just tried to figure out the table. It was a bit weird not being able to understand anything the guys were talking about. It was the biggest game going so it seemed like a lot of the guys were regulars and knew each other which sucks. But onto some hands:
(Al you were correct but overall Cosmopol wasn't too bad)
First notable hand, I'm in the SB w/Q5dd and see a flop 5 ways (standard). I lead A95dd, BB calls and I get raised by one of the "regs" that wasnt very good (stacked off earlier w J7ss on red JT8 flop earlier). I just flat his raise to see if I can get a call from the guy behind but he folds. Turn is a Q and I check/shove (basically just call his bet). You dont have to turn your hands over so the dealer just flips the river and you show down. As expected he flips A9 and goes crazy when he sees my Q5 bc he didnt see I had the FD at first. So that gets me up to ~5k.
Not long after I see a flop w 33 from sb again and its a nice 356f and I chk hoping one of the 5 or so in the pot bet but I get nothing. Turn is a 7 which is pretty meh so I check again and the same guy from the last hand bets ~1/2pot and I call so were HU. River is a 9 and I ck call his smallish bet as he had bluffed a 4 straight earlier with a similar size bet. I call he flips J8, fml.
Theres a drooler to my direct right and he raises in mp to 350. I RR to 1k w QQ, bb and drooler call. Flop is Kxxdd and BB open shoves. Guy to my right calls and I fold. BB has AKs and drooler has 35dd and rivers his flush.
Next big hand I raise a limper and the drooler w Q7s. Flop comes a beautiful 757. Checks to me I bet ~1/2 pot, decent player flats, drooler raises 3x. I shove in about 3k, unexpectedly the other player in the hand snap calls (i have him covered) with authority. Now Im a bit worried, and the drooler calls as well. Guy has 55 and drooler has T7. I only lost about 1k in the hand after winning the side pot. Pretty sick cooler but whatever...
I lose a few smallish pots and somehow end up back down to around 1.7k, dont really remember how. We see a flop 6 ways and I have KJhh in the blinds. flop is 246hh, I lead out, BB raises, another guys flats, drooler flats and I just shover it in. Surprisingly 2 guys call and the drooler takes forever and finally folds Q6 (faceup like its a good fold). One guy has 35 for the straight, another has 32hh for fd+sd but I only know this at showdown, so the turn is a 2 and i figure im done to a FH, but river is the Ah and I take it down with the NF. I have about 5k now and play a few more pots but end up leaving the table because the drooler left and its a bunch of regs it seems. (left w ~4k)
I sit down at the 20/20 table and it seems better. An english guy a few to my left, some middle aged swedes to my right and a few shortstacks. I dont remember too many hands early, but I chip up from my 2k buyin to about 3.5k then fall back down to about 2k. I then get all in preflop with TT vs AT against a guy w 50bbs or so. Flop is KQ9 and I think im done. Turn is a J and Im like hell yea got this in the bag, river is a blank and he flips his AT, fml.
So now im down to about 1k and would rebuy but my brother took my 2 1k chips to go play blackjack so just have to nurse the stack. End up limping KJ lp with a bunch of guys in the hand. Flop is KKx and I check to the english guy who bets 100 or something. A few guys call and I just shove in my last 950 or so. A guy behind me calls and everyone else folds. Gets to show down and I flip my KJ and he agonizes and slowrolls w KQ, damn Swedes haha.
So I head downstairs and play some blackjack. My brother gives me the 2k i loaned him and we play for about an hour. I made some of my losses back but nothing special. I ended up losing 1.5kKr which is only about $200, so not too bad. Losing live sucks a lot worse than losing online...
Last night we did a pubcrawl and had a blast. It started kind of early so the bars werent very crowded but we ended up meeting some swedish girls who took us to the local hotspot and we did some work there. Bought a round of mojitos for some ladies and the bartended tried to pull a quick one on me after I handed him a 1k bill and he "forgot" to give me the 500Kr bill with the rest of my change. Thats one thing about Europe it seems, people "forget" change every now and then. Ended up meeting some American girls from our hostel and chilled w them for the night. They were a fun crowd and made us stay up to watch the sunrise (at 4am). Ended up passing out and had to get up a 11am to check out which came entirely too early as Im pretty sure I was still drunk.
Flew back into Bremen and now its time to get some much needed rest. We have class at 10am, then German cooking lessons (I'll do anything for some free food) and Salsa lessons tomorrow night. Booked my shit today for Switzerland. Were flying out early Wednesday morning into Milan, then taking the train to Interlaken, Swz. We booked skydiving, bungy jumping (the tallest in Europe and maybe the world, not sure) at 450ft, and canyoning. If we have time were going to try and do some more outdoors stuff like ice clmbing or sea kayaking.
Cheers from Bremen, Germany

So my brother and I arrived in Stockholm Sweden last night. It was quite cold and rainy so we just drank a beer at the bar next to the hostel and went to bed. Woke up today and did some cruising around the city on our own. Stockholm is a pretty badass city, but quite big. The girls here are amazing. I'd say 50% of the girls are attractive hot blondes, so Im gonna have to put some work in tonight and tomorrow night. We also found a Casino but the poker room doesnt open until 6pm here. We are on the list and plan on heading over there shortly. Im playing in a 50/50Kroner Game which is basically a 5/5Euro game or 7/7 Dollar game. I'll post some updates on how I did tomorrow. Hopefully I can win some monies to cover this trip...But gotta go freshen up and head to the casino
Cheers from Stockholm. Sweden

So its been awhile since I made a blog post on any site. For some reason I feel like Leggo is more home than any other poker site and I have been motivated after reading the blogs of Prob, Lostinthesauce, Robin, JamesMa, etc...I really wish I was in Vegas right now but if i could be anywhere else in the world right now itd be right here. Im currently in Bremen, Germany "studying" abroad..I actually won a seat into the ME but am a) not 21 and b) planned this trip way before I won my seat. Next year hopefully I can be in Vegas for a month or so with everyone and take advantage of the WSOP(as I will be 21). I have been in Bremen Germany for a few days now but today was the first day of "classes" which sucked. I was in Amsterdam a few days before I came here and needless to say, had a blast. Unfortunately the only thing on TV here in Germany thats in English is Michael Jackson Tribute music vids so Ive been watching that all day...I bought one of the new netbooks to bring to Germany with me for my trip as Ive been backpacking before, during the weeknds, and after my program is over and didnt feel like taking a "17 laptop around...so its impossible to play poker on this "7 netbook but I still enjoy the internet...I can't load pictures either which would be awesome because tonight the enitre study abroad group, of around 18, went to a 1euro pub where everything you can think of was 1euro...needless to say we got fugggged up with shots and RBVs around..it was loads of fun, but gotta get up at 9:30am which is 3:30amET so its about time for me to pass out...hopefully I can update more and become way more involved in LP now and when I return to then world of Poker in a month...
For now from Bremen Germany, Peace,
Kirk

This weekend I went to Lexington to see/visit the Sigma Nu headquarters and other historical sites. Friday we left around 4, got up there and pretty much just chilled. Saturday we woke up in the morning adn did some volunteer work which involved moving some mulch for this creepy kids garden place. We then toured downtown Lexington, VMI, and Washington and Lee. We came home late Saturday night and I insta passed out. Sunday was spent at an IFC meeting for most of the day, then came home and played some poker. I am about $2200 below equity this month which is pretty blah. I'm having an ok month, but I'd like to put some more hands in to keep on track with my yearly goal ($60k, $5k/month). Played 1300 hands tonight and made 3.5BIs which I will take considering the past few sessions. Hopefully I can keep it up.

So I played two sessions today. The first went well as I was sitting in my office hours (TAing) getting paid to play poker. I made ~2.5BIs at 200nl in about an hour. I later came home and put a decent session in but got railed by the poker gods. Ran a solid $1,400 under expectation in only 1500 hands. Thats nearly 1$/hand under expectation. LOL. Still only lost ~$450 on the day, but still pretty lame. Here's a few beauties:

So I have a few blogs on my Google Reader but I want a lot more. What kind of stuff do you guys have in yours? I mainly have the blogs I read from here and DC, a few random poker player blogs, and one comic strip. I want to branch out and broaden my horizons on any topic. Can you guys give me some links/RSS feeds/ideas? Thanks
