hey all!

If you have raw hand histories from iPoker network, Microgaming network or Party Poker - could you possibly mail me (oleg.kononosov@gmail.com) HHs of any of your sessions (need them for hand converter tests).

Appreciated!

War is probably the most useless form of human behavior ever created - it wastes resources and throws back the economical state of the subjects back a good bit, yet can allow for some amazing technological advances, which is probably the only good thing about it.

At least that's how I look at it - the reason I thought about writing this post is the idea underlying my site and a recent debate over it. It's built in a way that we probably will never have to go to war with any other resource. Rather, we'll be able to assimilate them and profit together. For instance, several days ago we (me and my partner) had a discussion on whether we should offer a potential rival a deal and try to get them to work for us (in which case I already have a plan how we can churn out ~9-11 free videos and coaching sessions a week for low/mid stakes without losing a cent).

My point of view is that competition is never fun, especially if there is a chance that together we can become the market's best service provider, even if I don't like these people personally. So tomorrow I'll go negotiate with them, and from what I've managed to find out about them, there is ~70% chance I'll succeed and we'll have an okay team right from the start plus a great potential for expansion in the next couple of months.

Fwiw, I've never felt this alive in a very long while. I find creating my own business much more fun than playing poker, because what I'm doing now is called FPS in poker, but in business - creative financial schemes and dirty competition.

quick update, doing great, playing 1\2 already, my challenge br is around 7k, but i'm swamped with site-related stuff, as we've encountered some technical problems, so haven't been playing lately at all, maybe i'll post a couple of great hands or make a post about a pretty interesting trick i've been practicing in poker lately. but for now - cheers, gotta go

lol, according to PTR i'm one of the biggest winners @ nl10 on ftp this month over a significant sample. if it wasn't for the last couple of unfortunate break-even sessions (card-dead basically), i'm pretty sure i would have been top2 or top1, but i'm playing nl25 for the challenge already, and it seems i'm far far ahead of the other guy.

nl10 seems to be a joke, was up 7bis in 400 hands or so 8tabling, but then got down almost 2bis at the very end - losing 3way AI 150bb deep with str8 vs 2p, and a couple of small pots where i tried to bluff. Actually, I just checked my HEM - i'm YET to win a flop AI with a str8, as every time i shovel it in vs 2p i lose (3 times so far). so sick.

fun hand:

Full Tilt Poker $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em - 5 players
The Official 2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked.com

Hero (BB): $42.50
UTG: $24.90
CO: $14.94
BTN: $19.03
SB: $36.40

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is BB with J J
2 folds, BTN calls $0.10, 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.35, BTN raises to $1.10, Hero raises to $42.50 all in, BTN calls $17.93 all in

Flop: ($38.11) 9 T Q

Turn: ($38.11) 9

River: ($38.11) 2

not a misclick, just pure value vs a guy who stacked off with 2h5x on J79hhhTx board vs my ThTx for 200bbs

he had J7o

Doing great in the prop bet, started playing 12 tables, cash across nl25 and nl10, going to switch to nl25 and nl50 rly soon, although today i got slaughtered for 4bi losing every 70%+ all in and also a pretty huge pot with nfd+oesd vs a fish (ended up c/f a horrendous river 220bb deep), according to EV should've finished the session up a bunch, but oh well, i don't put much stock into "running good/bad". Anyway, the centerpiece of this post is a piece of advice to all microstakers:
  • play deep tables and always buy in for 200bb deep - you have no idea how profitable that is and light ppl pay you off. Just play your normal game and never slowplay nuts or near-nuts, nl10 or nl25 200bb deep don't require any specific adjustments. And don't stack off with QQ or AK 200bb deep.
  • start 3 barreling in limped pots when draws missed or board runs out high-card high-card - they fold a lot
  • start 3 barreling boards not only on J-A, but any card higher than the board's second card, if they call turn - fire safe rivers
  • never ever exclude A or Khigh from pretty much anyone's range on dry-ish flops.
  • bet/check bet is NEVER a bluff. but don't use it yourself because they don't know that and will call you light
  • there are so many draws in their ranges on most flops that it might make sense to barrel your second pair on certain boards on a blank turn and check river
  • don't defend your opens vs 3bets IP like it's your job. They don't fold much in 3bet pots, they fire questionable barrels, and don't pure bluff enough for your wide defending ranges to show profit. So far i've been folding to 80% of 3bets and running in high 19s ptbb
  • people don't adjust. period. stop giving them so much credit for bluffing/valuebetting thinly or adjusting to your high % of cbet raises.
  • don't 3bet a wide range unless in BB vs SB or BTN vs CO scenarios, they don't fold enough.
  • Instead start floating and raising cbets A LOT more often especially on dry boards - 80% of ppl there cbet 80%+ and have no idea of what you can represent
  • don't wuss out with AK pre if you get 3bet. 4bet and get it in - they do 3bet bluff and even fold JJ/QQ to 4bets (if it goes like CO/HJ raise-3bet-overcall just shove it in 100bb deep unless one of them is a ridiculous nit like 13/7 or smth)
  • know your value spots - A7 on J74r is NOT a good hand to raise a donk bet. AK is NOT a good hand either. 85s, though, IS a good candidate
  • it's okay to raise weak draws IP and OOP vs 80%+ cbettors - they fold a lot! it's okay to c/c and float with them too as pf caller
  • don't get scared away by raises on A or K high turns when you barrel - from what i've seen these raises from fish are quite likely to be dumb bluffs, so i would never fold a TP there (if anything, they call with turned pairs a lot more than they raise them, so their ranges get a lot more polarized)
  • run more pokerstove sims, don't be lazy - there's a lot of stuff you've never even thought off that makes you really passive with fairly huge hands. And screw balance, if you have A9 in BB vs BTN on 9T5ssAo board 150bb deep - just c/r and stack off

i'd be shoving 74o on Q79cc for value, but I am doing this and keep getting called by AT or 55.

anyway, day 2 was pretty uneventful, played 4 sngs, broke even, today i've played maayybe like 11 or 12 (?), up 35$ or smth, anyways by BR is good enough to hit nl10 or 10$ (probably the latter, and i'll keep playing sngs until i reach 400$ for a solid nl25 bankroll). The other challenger (i.e. my friend) is grinding nl10 w/ maybe 120$ and experiencing a shitload of swings. god bless him!

actually, what i've learned from HU sngs is that if you have tilt issues or trouble deciphering fish lines - def play 5$ sngs. you'll see what i mean if you play them :P

so i've donated 60% of my bankroll to our site as a current capital to handle all rakeback and bonus payment issues, and i'll be getting it back pretty soon, but, since i'm pretty unenthusiastic about grinding nl100-nl200 all over again, i've made a prop bet. Who can get further with 50$ till December 1st. The gist is that me and a close friend of mine each get only 50$ on FTP, no deposit bonuses or anything, the one who gets further wins 5k$ plus something i can't talk about just yet because we are yet to arrange that, but it'll be paid for by the loser and we'll have videos. I'll try to blog about this challenge when I have time, so here goes.

Day 1:

I figured that playing 2nl or 5nl would be similar to masturbation because of rake and variance, so I took a safer route: 5$ hunl sngs, which are the easiest money ever so far with almost 0 variance (i'm serious - i lost like 2 sngs out of w/e number i played, valuebetting bottom 2 on 4str8 boards and getting AI on 923Tr vs J2o, didn't use HEM, otherwise i wouldn't have lost those 2 for sure). Up to 184.31$, which translates into 134.31$ profit or 26 sngs won (i actually won more, but there's .25$ rake, which is whatever) 4tabling randoms.

Gonna keep playing until i hit 300-400$, then either switch to 10$ and 20$ sngs or 25nl/50nl.

To-do bullet list:
  • Tighten up, stop playing ridic agro like you used to in live games. You aren't the coolest kid on the block when you open T7s UTG or K6o in CO, ppl here play a tad better
  • Stop making ridiculous bluffs, when you want them to fold trips on a dry board, not all ppl here are ridic nits
  • Profit
