HUDless Update

So far, I feel like having a HUD was basically putting up a wall in front of the other players for me. With it gone, I have made some sick reads---reads I never would have made two weeks ago. It really just surprised me so much. I was able to tell, by timing alone, when a particularly big donk on my right was limp/calling with a big hand like QQ+/AK and when he was limp/calling with garbage like 69o. I saw how one huge donk played a turned straight (c/c, donk the river for pot), and so when he c/raised me big on a 744 duotone flop, I just shoved over him with AQ because I knew he was on a draw. He tanked and called, rivered his flush, but I got it in with 50% equity and he was short to start the hand. Maybe I should have called and let him keep bluffing, though. I will post the hand when I have my other comp up and running. There have been a lot of other instances where I just owned people with my reads, and obv, I am definitely interested in continuing this trend..

Unfortunately, there were some instance where I tilted, too, and so will dedicate this next week to managing that. I picked up some extra shifts at the restaurant, so won't have too much time to play. But the important thing for me to remember right now is that I really can own donks when I am playing my best and paying attention, so I will make that my little project for the next ten days so I can show Matt how far I have come since he has been in Thailand.

Play well. Do good work. Keep in touch.

HUDless is the way to go. When I play at work (on my phone) I have to go HUDless and can only play 2 tables effectively and I've found all the downtime between hands you're involved in forces one to focus on you're oppponents, take notes, find tells/reads/patterns, and actually utilize them. For me it just gets tough when I want to play more tables and find it tough to concentrate az effectively. Gotta find that balance, the thin line between playing efficiently/effectively and maximizing you're earn/winrate.

Still alive, still reading your blog, work is crazy and its crunch time at school so I haven't been playing much/at all really... will be back to the grind/forums prly late April/early May.

Play well,
Ryan

Do you know of a way to play hudless but also hav the HEM last 3 pots displayed, i much prefer to check hand historys using that than the ps/ft replayer.

larry31, I only have miscellaneous stats posted on my HUD like name abbreviation and number of hands. After 100 hands I think I should have some notes on the opponent (kind of lets me know when I am not being mindful). Idk why I have the name, I guess because one number just looks weird. Anyway, I prefer to take notes on the HEM itself so I can add to them when reviewing hands.
