Was today on Full Tilt, .02/.05 with ante. It was really fun to play with people that you spend so much time responding to forum posts with. I felt like I didn't want to embarrass myself most of all. I thought I played very well for the most part, considering the rampant 3betting and bluff shoving going on around me. I think I ended up down 2.5 BI running under all in EV by like 3.5, so gg everyone.
That said, I am not sure it was the right tone to set for my day of grinding. I ran pretty horrible and lost almost every flip, but I can't ignore the questionable play. It is one thing to defend against a 3bet with K9s IP when the leggo crew is 3betting like crazy and I am deep with a preflop caller, but I need to leave those plays behind when I am playing in a more normal game. I feel like I spent a lot of today and yesterday swapping coolers with people, but today I didn't make as many good folds as I did yesterday. I have been all about trying to set a regular routine for myself when playing so far this month, and I broke it today and my play suffered. I think if I can be disciplined with myself and the conditions I play under, I will be owning 50nl by the end of the month, so I will spend the majority of time concentrating on that. I also think that the more time I can spend in the right frame of mind to play poker, the easier it will be to find it again and again, until it is like driving or riding a bike, or working behind the bar--where it is so comfortable and easy that I can really push my thinking forward while at the tables. Today, I also felt a strong urge to play instead of study, and I should have noted to myself that that means it is a bad time for me to play, so I can watch for that next weekend. Oh yeah, I am working six days next week and will not be playing much. I should be making great money, but it will be quite a slog an V-day. Last year we served 1001 entrees, and I think this year will be another record breaker. I would like to see the Saints win tomorrow, but I think the Colts will do it fairly convincingly. Play well. Do good work. Keep in touch. PFj
