My blog does not work with the word "coaching" in the title. lol
EDIT: Sep. 25th I can not accept any more students. If you PM'ed and we have not had a lesson, I will not be able to coach you at this time. After the group of students I have now thins out (when this will happen depends on how long my current students want to continue with my coaching) I will reopen the offer. When I decide to take on new students my rate will be $100hr.
Coaching hours are, Mon. 2-5pm, Tues 3-5pm, Wed 3-6pm. I will always be available during these periods unless I am out of town, or another student has booked the slot. Any other day or time is less likely to happen, but is possible. My time zone is
PDT.
COACHING
I have been doing more and more coaching lately. I am starting to refine the process, with the help of other successful coaches. The adjustments I am making will ensure my students get the maximum benefit from each lesson.
I have decided to expand the payment options since I am raising prices (currently $75.00 an hour) to $100.00 an hour in a month or so. I will outline some options below.
1. Pay by the hour.
2. Buy a package of five hours for 10% off (five hours for $340.00). This will include (although it will be changed to fit each individuals needs and situation) you making a 1 hour video that will take about 2 hours for us to review together. This will be divided into two, one hour lessons. After each lesson I will provide you with some bullet points on what you need to watch out for, and improve on over the next week.
At this point there will be a choice of a one hour HM review and theory discussion, or a one hour live sweat (to deal more with game flow, and making the right decisions when it counts).
If we go for the HM review for an hour, it will be followed by one and a half hours of live sweats, or video review. We will conclude the course with a thirty minute review, looking at improvements you have made, and areas that still need attention. Another option is to talk about theory of some kind, or a particular situation you have issues with.
If we decide on doing a live sweat for an hour, the next one and a half hours will be used for either more live play, or video review (I recomend video review for people staying at the same limit before the coaching began). Again we will end with a review of your progress and areas that still need attention, or we will talk some theory.
If you decide to move up from your current limit (or just want live sweats) I recommend the next two and a half hours be used for live sweats to help you make the transition to 100nl, 200nl, or whatever the limit may be. What better way to make the transition to more aggressive games than with your coach? We will use the last 1/2 hour to review hands in HM or talk theory, whatever we decide will be most beneficial.
3. I will also be introducing a new payment option for people at lower stakes (although it is open to anyone I approve). The rate will be $50 an hour and a % of the profit over the next 10K hands. What percent depends on skill level, limit, and my comfort level of being paid fairly by the student (older students will get better deals). This will be a flexible option, and I am open to discussion.
There will also be a complimentary workshop held once a week for students with package deals. This will be a group sweat where students will take turns playing and talking theory. This will be a great opportunity to meet people that are at your limit, and actively trying to improve as well. Expanding your poker network is something that should not be underestimated. This will last around two hours, but everyone is free to come and go whenever they want.
EDIT: Reviews...
I want to Thank Matt "Probability" for his continuous help in turning me into a winning player.* I met Matt just 6 months ago and knew immediately that this was a poker player that I needed to glean knowledge from.* He was always spot on in his assessments.* His knowledge of the game*continues to impress and amaze me. I even remember a few times that*he*humbly stated, "I don't know"...but 20 minutes later had an answer from just further assessing the situation.* He has been stone cold tough on me at times and this point I truly appreciate in him.* It's so easy to try to be gentle and meek, but what we all really need at times is someone to say what needs to be said in a way that you GET IT.* I get it now, and my stats will back that up.* It's no wonder he's had great success because he's good, very good.* I look forward to more coaching from him and I think I will continue to be affluent and successful at this "simple" game.
*
The sweat sessions, hand history reviews and theory discussions with Matt have*changed me from a break-even/losing player into a*Professional.**His coaching comes highly recommended.

Matt is a great player who has motivated me to implement many improvements in my game by showing me a more effective way of learning about poker. Our multi-hour sweats and PT reviews were monumental in pushing me to play more hands and putting me in a mindset where I lived and breathed poker. Since I met him about 6 months ago, I’ve moved from doing average at 50nl to crushing 200nl and I’m currently taking shots at 400nl. I've played a lot against Matt in 6 max, 9 max, and HU. His breathe of knowledge is very diverse. He's capable of 12-16 tabling 9max and is also able to play less tables with a very deep thinking, and aggressive style. When we do group sweats and discus hands he conveys his thoughts in a easy to understand way, and genuinely cares that everyone in our group is learning together. I wouldn’t be surprised if he turns into a 5/10+ player in 2-6 months. I plan on jumping on the wagon early and riding his coattails all the way to the top!!!! =)

Just wanted to do a little testimony for my friend/coach Matt "Probability". So here goes.....
Matt is just awesome. He has to be one of the coolest people you will ever meet in the poker world. He started coaching me way back when I was struggling at 50nl. I was just some underage kid marginally grinding microstakes, but he didn't care. He treated me like an actual person and helped me plug many leaks in my weak game. Well, long story short I am now 18 and taking shots at 400nl successfully when like about 4 months ago I was at 50nl. Whether you play full ring or 6 max, Matt is the man to be coached by at SSNL. Not only is he a great coach , he's also a great friend to have in the poker world. And now that he is Greg's protege, he will only get better and better and his hourly coaching rate will only go higher and higher. So book him for a few sessions now while you can still afford his hourly rate because he will probably be at 1knl in no time.
