Today Greg and I had a lesson that took an unexpected twist. He became my financial adviser/poker mentor today. Kind of funny, but a testament to his ability to read people and see what the situation calls for.

My progress HU has been less than superb for a few reasons. I am a slow learner, I have not put in hands due to tilt/frustration, I care a lot about money right now.

I have not been very happy about playing HU since I am well on my way to my first losing month ever (maybe second). I was willing to stick with it though. I did not want to let Greg down, or admit to myself that it was not the best course of action. Greg obv read my mind and knew what would be best. It was a little hard on the ego to get pulled out of the game, but it is the way to go.

I am very excited to go back to 6 max and start generating revenue again. I am beating 1/2 (which is what I will be playing with Greg) for 7.88 ptbb over the last 60K hands (need a brag after all this stuff above) and can't wait to see what happens when I get to work with Greg.

Hey taking a step back takes humility, and humility is the sign of comfort with yourself and your abilities. You aren't being defeated by HU, you're just making a tactical decision to make you war with it more advantageous for you. GL man.

you're almost certainly not a slow learner. as odd as it may sound, when people start off on new learning regimens, they will hit some frustration because they dont feel they're progressing as fast as they should be. however, just being involved in an environment that feeds your brain a lot speeds up the rate at which you learn (obviously also giving you extra knowledge too).

no doubt you'll be busting **** up again at 6max (and HU) soon.

this is some pretty mature stuff, when your playing bad or not up to your own standards the hardest thing to do is admit it and make the right adjustments. And props to greg for taking time and helping you out

I don't think you will have problems with HU in the future, I know you are gonna beat the hell out of those players. However I do think you are putting extra pressure on yourself and that is what is making you psychologically affected in your sessions.

I think this because of thats how I felt when I was on my downswing, and things can get to you a lot quicker. Your plan sounds good, and you should feel a lot more relief once you finish this month strong on the game you know you can beat, then be better focus to start again.
