Working hard pays off?

This year I started studying a lot earlier than I usually do and went to the library more frequently it's not that surprising that I felt more prepared for exams, than I have in the past. I think part of it has to do with taking courses that play to my strengths more (math, rational thinking, etc.) I have written 4 of 5 exams and I think I did pretty well on all of my exams, despite the fact I got really bad food poisoning last Friday and spent all day Saturday going from my couch to my bed to the toilet and had to write an exam that very next day; all exams scheduled to be on Monday were moved to Sunday because of the provincial election. I go to a good school and am in a good program and it amazes me how these "smart" kids don't understand that they will be asked to apply there knowledge, they think if they can do all the sample questions, they will crush the exams, but unless they know how to apply the knowledge they probably aren't going to get any better than a B. Asking people to apply their knowledge or problem solve on a test isn't unfair it is something that should be expected of people in a tough program. I am saying this regardless of my results on all my exams, but if I don't do well I will put the blame on myself, not the prof for writing a hard exam or the markers for being ****s. I still have one more exam on Wednesday and hopefully I won't be too burnt out to do a little work today/tomorrow, before having full study days on Monday/Tuesday.

The Vikings just beat the Lions last week, but luckily they won and almost as importantly Gus Frerotte is injured. People will say stuff like "The Vikings are 8-3" with Gus, but they are winning in spite of him, because their defense and running game is so good. I have wanted TJax in since week 3 and I am glad, he had a very good half (even if it was vs. the Lions) and hopefully can turn into a decent QB.

Also some quick tv thoughts I don't want to get that in depth for risk of spoiling anything.
The Shield's final season and finale is probably the best ending to any serialized drama I have seen. Other shows like The Wire and The Sopranos have better beginning's and middle, but The Shield is very close to both of them and the final half of the final season was incredible.

After a mediocre start season 3 of Dexter has picked up, it is still not as good as S2 or S1 imo, but has been entertaining, both Jimmy Smits and Michael C. Hall have been superb.

Friday Night Lights is the most underrated show on tv. It isn't even on a real network, but some random Directv channel, but that doesn't stop it from being better acted/written/directed than any drama currently on network TV.

I am watching Mr. Show and it is spectacular, I am on S4 and disappointed because I realize there will soon be no more new Mr. Show content for me.

Heroes is terrible. I watch it with friends usually, but with exams, we haven't had time to meet up and when I watch it by myself it feels like a chore.

Finally Gran Torino http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9teLeXZ3XMU looks incredible. Clint
