Loving it

Posted 05-12-2010 at 07:52 AM by cntgetmedown
Played my first CAPT event yesterday. The 500€ freezout, I had a pretty good time after the table loosened up a bit. There was a lot of random trash talking in the good sense. One time I jammed UTG and had my poker face going when a well dressed Swiss man said with a Swiss-German accent that he saw my ear wiggle, I was unable not to smile at the comment and comply to his fist bump XD.
My table consisted mainly of some wealthy businessmen and retirees. The nationalities ranged from USA over Italy and Switzerland to local. People had character and didn't appear to be degenerate which I think is optimal for live poker.
Nobody really got angry at beats and we we're all just having fun, good sportsmanship.
I think I played pretty well for the most part, spots were pretty standard. I usually had a stack size at which my decisions were pretty straight forward. Busted 50/114 when I jammed AKs utg for 14k at 200/600/1200 and ran into KK, but couldn't suckout.
The structure wasn't all too good sadly. It looked good on paper, but the 30 minute blinds killed it.
Today I'll be playing a satellite to the main event on Saturday, Friday is a 1k freezout. I expect the structure to be poor again today, but to be better on Friday and naturally on Saturday. So far it looks like I won't be playing live cash, because I have an exam coming up next week Tuesday and really need to discipline myself now if I wanna get anything done this semestre.

Posted 05-11-2010 at 05:12 PM by ssells73
Hey Guys,

Been a while since my last blog, I've recently gotten done w/ group coaching w/ Shootaa and feel like my game is as good as ever right now. Now that I'm done w/ group coaching I want to take on some more students since I have more free time at the moment.

I'm looking to coach NL200 or below, I've recently been playing 2/4, most of my current students play NL50-Nl100.

Send me a p.m. or hit me up on aim w/ questions on rates/style/references, etc.

Here's a graph of my last 100k hands, most at 1/2 recently 2/4.

Mexico+ Basketball in Vegas

Posted 05-11-2010 at 10:44 AM by ImThaGrandMaster

After a 3 month long stay in Mexico, I am back in the states. It's been a nice change of pace in the sense that I've been able to clear my mind and actually play some poker. Living abroad is great, it's just tough to live that lifestyle and still be able to play well and work your game on a daily basis.

Poker has been going great so far this month. I'm taking shots at 2/4 and 3/6 again and am feeling confident in my game. I've moved some of my action off FTP and am now game selecting across multiple sites. For the past few weeks, I have been pretty good about studying poker. I think its showing signs of growth as a pro that I'm actively trying to learn even though I know I'm running like god. I'm usually pretty focused and motivated when I'm breaking even or losing but in the past, I've sort of just coasted and have gotten lazy during heaters. I just finished Let There Be Rage and am going to start Exploiting Regulars next. For those of you breaking even and struggling with poker, I just want to emphasize how important it is to keep learning. Keep working on your game yo.

Life outside of poker is also going quite well. Jaymes Bond just got into town yesterday afternoon. We had a great time at the Tigers-Yankees game, although we left after the 6th inning due to it being cold lol. Thankfully, we leave for Mexico in just a few days.

After that its off to Vegas. I am going to be playing basketball every day over the next month to try and get in playing shape. I was going fairly regularly with Jeff prior to hurting my ankle. That put me out for a good two weeks. Definitely looking forward to ballin with the new crew. We should have some pretty competitive two on two games. I have no idea how good Jaymes is but Crispy is solid for someone who has never played organized basketball and Jeff is very good. With Jeff's body type, you'd expect him to be a Corliss Williamson type player, but he actually surprises you, and plays a finesse game, relying on a deadly mid range jumpshot. I'd like to gamble in Vegas on three point shooting if anyone is interested. Not large bets, just $50-$100 per game or so, and I'd be willing to shoot against anyone. Looking forward to playing on 5 on 5 with some of u guys as well. FWIW, I'm pretty much looking to play whenever anyone else wants to, so just let me know.

Thats all I got for now. Take care and see u guys soon.

scoops and life in the red

Posted 05-11-2010 at 10:00 AM by luckychewy
Since my win at caesars I've been blanking scoops real hard and losing at cash. I had a legit day today though getting 10th in the 3k 4max which turned out to be an unbelievably fun tournament and coolering some guys in cash. When I busted I had ~275 hands won without showdown for the tournament of ~900 hands played and the avg stack was something like 140bbs. The structure throughout was almost too good, but really ideal for a skill packed online tournament. I think scoop structures are actually the best ever for online tournaments, but simply not practical for day to day because of how long it takes(tournament started at 2pm with 5k 10-20 and I busted at 12am for a 100k pot at 400-800 lol).

On another note, I became a full tilt red pro today so now I stand out in the chat box. Hopefully I get both my avatar and first commercial soon. I also played the doubles poker championship the past few days and had a super good time, so check that out in mid July when it airs. The format is really cool mostly because it's totally innovative and great for TV, but I think I enjoy variants of hold'em more than most, evidenced by my strong background in and creation of merkle. The structure on the other hand is way fast, but somewhat necessary for how long it would take if it weren't done like this. It could be really cool to have a multitable tournament with similar ideas, and could even potentially be done online at some point. Honestly though, the future of online poker is so hard to speculate about because the sky is the limit when it comes to the possibilities.

ukipt time and testing real life spots

Posted 05-11-2010 at 01:40 AM by salfi123
well since the 300 i won back in 2007 i havnt cashed in any live event over 300quid buy in.
probably played 25 live salficantwinaments .
so i hope to get to atleast day two in nottingham on wednesday.
played the alea festival and only had the one cash at the plo.
the 250main event was badly attended and i felt i didnt get any decent pots go my way . kept running decent hands into better hands and doin big chunks of my stack in the process(felt i coulda gone broke in redic spots atleast three times if op hadnt played hands so redic bad).
anyway dont wanta dwell on pots i lose cause thats a waste of energys and positivity is all i have at this moment in my life.

of late i left my family home and left the gf of 7 years.
its kinda a very sad moment in my life because its not really what i want and i share a 4year old son with the ex gf.
me and the gf havnt really got on for many years but weve just plodded along for the sake of the little boy. we was hardly a loving couple it was more for convenience . im often up late at night and sleep during the days when my little boy was at nursery.
i personally think im a great dad but a crappy bf so i dont see the end of the relationship with the gf a bad thing. we wasnt in love as a couple it was more convenience to be good parents that we was together, ide of never left the family home or broken up with the gf as im a coward with emotions and i just hate change. ive put up with her for many years and she is a spoilt kid with no love in her heart for me. i dont hate her cause she is the mum of my little boy il still support them and il be there for my little son when i can be(obviously this becomes harder when im not in the family home because i now have to build a new life away from what ive known for many years)

i really am looking forward to life short term and im feeling happy and free but i do really hate the thought that my little boy not been in my life full time. im going to not get the early morning wake up calls from him, the him sneaking into my bed for cuddles, the hugs and love he has to offer at any time of day just cause im his dad.

i love my little boy more then anything in life and i feel ive failed at been the best dad i can be if im not a massive part of his life by been there everyday .
this week i have not been to see my little boy but thats because i dont know how to be around him when i just want to hate his mother right now . she is the mother of my boy but as a person i really hate her cause i feel as if she has done me out of everything . my house my stuff and my emotional batterys . but i know deep down he is better of with his mother because im a bit of a disater when it comes to looking after myself never mind a 4year old boy ,
anyway as u can tell this is a very strange time in my life as change is never easy.

bit about the poker i SUCK
ukipt day 1 wednesday and with abit of luck il make day 2 on friday .
i have no idea what the future holds for me right now but for some reason that feels great

Ugly

Posted 05-11-2010 at 01:15 AM by LT22
Poker has been terrible. Absolutely awful. The last 30k hands have been just so LOL. I've never experienced anything like this in my career. I actually can't imagine running like this for much longer. I will probably break something if it continues. I'm not losing much, just can't win.

If I ever run like this while I am in school I will probably end up quitting poker.

I have a new respect for professional 6max players. It's a hard knock life and there is no way I have the emotional control to do it day in and day out for the rest of my life. Thankfully, I am going back to school.

I have been playing my "C" game I would estimate. As punishment and an effort to preserve my bankroll, I am going to move down to 0.5/1 until I make 10 buyins. It won't be easy to make 10 buyins unless I start playing better. I can tell you one thing, I don't want to be playing 0.5/1, so I am gonna try my best and bring my A game.

Had my physical therapy appointment this morning. No significant injuries I just need to do some stretching, strengthen the muscles that support the spine, and watch my posture.

Peace out, GL

Group Coaching for Microstakes

Posted 05-11-2010 at 12:21 AM by bw07507
I have talked a bit about it with some people and have decided I will be starting group coaching for microstakes players. Ideally this will be aimed at 50NL 6max players, but I will accept students from 25NL and also from FR players as well (If there is enough interest from FR guys I will just do separate groups for 6max and FR). Alright here is how it will work:

-The cost will be $350/person and will get you 8 hours of group coaching. The groups will consist of 4 students and myself.

-As for how the 8 hours will play out I was thinking that it would be best if I just give each student 2 one hour long sweat sessions each. I feel like this will be the most beneficial thing for each student. Another option is to have each student get 1 hour of sweating and then do 4 hours of theory stuff which I would have to prepare. I really feel like I will be able to talk about a ton of theory stuff during down time of the sweat sessions though and I will be able to actually show you places to apply the theory while we are getting into real time situations. For now assume that the 8 hours will consist of 2 one hour sweats for each person in the group. If people really want something different then let me know and I will see if I can work something out.

-Each session will be recorded with camtasia and a skype recorder and will be available for download by all the students in the group the day after the session takes place. We will be using teamviewer to allow everyone to watch the student's screen that is being sweat.

-Since this is the first time I am doing this I will be starting with just one or two groups depending on interest. I want to make sure I get everything right and am working to the best of my ability to give you guys the best possible coaching that I can. If this is successful I will do more groups in the future.

-I'd like to get groups to be able to commit to 2 hours/week at times TBD by the people in the group. My schedule is really really wide open so I will let the students decide what times work best for them. We can either do one 2 hour session per week or do two 1 hour sessions per week. Again, this will be determined by what the students want to do.

-Each of my students will have access to a private forum here where they will be able to discuss hands, different situations, and whatnot. I will be sure to check this forum at least once a day to answer any questions that anyone might have.

If you are interested send me a pm with your real name, skype/AIM contact info, and email address. If you have any questions at all or if you want to talk to some of my previous students, please just ask.
