I have edited my days so this is day 14, not 13., My HEM time stamp got reset to midnight and it has been throwing me off.

sickest HU match of my life

Posted 07-30-2009 at 08:31 PM by sh58
managed to get a huge donk HU at 5/10 on 2 tables, i ran well and was up 8k on him, when he tilted and started potting every street and went on a heater and destroyed me, ended up 1.5k on me.

i had to quit him, i had played until 7.30am and was really tired, playing poorly and scared of losing. i never thought i would quit a donk but i had to do it. i had just taken too many punches and had to throw in the towel. hopefully he will play me again.

i also made some bad plays that i wouldn't usually make, but i only started playing him at the end of a hard days grind, so not suprisingly wasn't playing my best.

he opened 97% of hands, and only folded 25% to a 3bet, and defended his BB 87% of the time. he donked about 50% of the time when calling a raise and 3bet around 20% as well.

i'm so fed up of not having a big HU score. every time i get up a tonne on someone (more than 5 buyins, i end up getting crushed, i felt like this was the moment i would do it, but alas, it wasn't to be)

Fifa 2009 perfect season legend difficulty

Posted 07-30-2009 at 06:38 PM by ultrasPNT
So my doctor told me to play fifa during my therapy for getting my mobility back after my broken knee so here I am, forgot how good I am at this.
Also kicked everybody I know in multiplayer even the dork that's national champ(to full of dorks for me to play but always finding the dork that wins to test my skills).
Now trying to win a perfect season in legend difficulty without conceding a goal.(this should be impossible the game creators say)
Also made a team with 100% blacks that wins:
Mandanda-Sagna-Toure-Gallas-Evra-YaYa Toure-Essien-Diarra- Etoo-Drogba-Adebayor.
And a team with 100% tall people:
Van der Saar-Bale-Mertezager-Luisao-Ferdinand-Lucio-Viera-Borowsky-Hudderstone Crouch Koller.
Trying to put make a team of midgets... need help... so far I've got Barthez Lennon-Giuly-Ribery

Delayed Trip Report/Ramblings

Posted 07-30-2009 at 02:12 PM by mw828
So I got back from Indy a week ago but haven't taken the time to blog since. I really liked it there. The weather is really nice this time of the year and the city has just enough to keep it interesting but not so much that its a giant clusterfuck. We stayed downtown, directly across the street from the capitol building. There was plenty of restaurants/entertainment within walking distance so it worked out well. We went to the Indianapolis Tennis Championships on Tuesday which was pretty fun. The tournament used to be rather tough, but it has fallen off, especially this year due to the atp's restructuring. Basically, the event isn't worth very much anymore. We didn't see a whole lot of good players but it was entertaining nonetheless. Here is a quick shot i took of the stadium court + downtown in the background.

We planned on going back on Wednesday but it drizzled basically all day so it was a wash. Naturally some random spending and wasting time occurred instead. Thursday was mostly just walking around seeing various landmarks like Conseco Fieldhouse and Lucas Oil Stadium, which is fucking massive btw. We flew back that night and the travel was pretty tiring.

Poker wise, not much has happened. I just haven't had the desire to play and I don't feel like pushing myself really. I played some 6 max sngs for fun on stars for a couple days, but today was my first day returning to 100nl 6max. Hopefully I can find some time/desire and get some hands in soon. FTP randomly came up with another bonus, so I now have another 200 to clear on top of the 200 I'm just about to finish clearing. Not sure why they bother honestly, but free money is free money.

Vacation TR (with pics obv)

Posted 07-30-2009 at 05:14 AM by Robin_Ripper
Let me warn you up front that there is absolutely no poker content whatsover in this post and it's only about my vacation. Song (Mark Knopfler, what it is)

When I was in Vegas I got an invitation from my father to fly out to Geneva and go to the Mont Blanc in France and then to Gran Paradiso in Italy. So after getting back on the 16th from Vegas I left on the 19th again! Plans were to go hiking in the mountains and just go camping.

10 days away from computers/poker was something I was definately ready for since poker has not been going great the last few months and sometimes you just need some time away to reflect on your game. So I was happy to be away for a little over a week. (ok I guess you can call this sort of poker-related)

So to the trip. The flight was delayed by about an hour but wasn't a big deal. What was funny was that one of my two roommates was actually returning from Geneva with the plane we were leaving with, so it was funny seeing him get off the plane I was about to board.

The first night we stayed at the house of a friend of my fathers near Lausanna where the weather was really good:

Tired from the flight and whatever we just went to bed early after finishing off a bag of pistachio's.

The next day we drove to France to the Mont Blanc and set up camp

That tent would be my home for the next 9 days.
We also visited some friends who were staying in the same area and enjoyed the view under the pleasure of some beers.

So we were off to our first hike, meeting scary people along the way

View from halfway there

Fell half asleep and woke up when horses where licking my feet... must say that I was kindof shocked 'waking up' with a huge animal over your head.

So after hiking for a couple of hours we reached the 'lake' at the end of the trail... was kindof dissapointed at the size of the lake...

We had some crepes after getting back and I helped to feed some of nature's creatures:

Basically we did another somewhat similar hike the next day so I won't post more 'pictures of the same scenery'. Because we've been to this area (well not this exact area, but the mont blanc area) before we decided to head over to Gran Paradiso in Italy.

We used the Mont Blanc Tunnel:

Which is one of the longest tunnels in the world. Was nothing special though. Just a really really long tunnel. We found a very nice camping near Aosta where it seems like a lot of locals were spending there vacation.

So we set up camp, here are my companions for this trip, my father and his gf.

In the first day in Italy we had to get some pasta's. So we lunched with pasta's and salads.
One annoying thing about Italy is that (well first off that they speak italian and I don't know Italian, anyway) all the restaurants close between 3 and 7 pm. So if you want to eat between that time you can't get a decent meal. Then at night we also had pizza. Ah there are also some good things about being in Italy!

Here is the first trip in Italy, me trying to promote leggo obviously:

On the way up we came across a fox, which was really not shy of people I guess since he just walked right by us. And my mind was still on poker I guess because I figured it was a good avatar for bfox...

Another great view from being in the mountains:

We also watched two ants try to kill a caterpillar, some pics of the battle:

These ants where monsters, attacking any animal they found, I've also seen them destroy a spider, bee, other ants and just random insects. While at the tent there were two beetles making love and one of these ants being about 1/5th of their size starts attacking them and actually killing one. You do NOT want to mess with these ants if you're as big as them. Luckily I am godlike in comparison to those tiny creatures so I took some revenge for the other animals.

Because this is becoming such a long post with so many pics I'll make the second part of the TR later.

Cliffs:
Went to france and italy and did some hiking, took lots of pics.

Life

Posted 07-30-2009 at 04:46 AM by aejones
A few days ago I dropped a hundred playing pretty marginally and getting coolered and sucked out on. I'd guesstimate that my losses were 50% poor play, 30% coolers and 20% tilt. The tilt wasn't really tilt, it was more or less tilt like this: I open K7 on button, I c-bet A K 7, turn A, check-check, river 4 he bets I call. Calls that might not be terribad, but are at least pretty bad. Since then I've played really well and won about half of it back. Today I played some really cool hands and the last few days in general I've played some of my best poker probably of the last few months. My goal will be to win 250 in August + September at NLHE, and then work on limit games and PLO more than likely. It is about time I start becoming a professional poker player and not a crappy student with an expensive hobby.

I've been pretty indecisive lately about a number of things and it's a little troubling for someone like me who is usually very keen on taking control and being in charge. I'm hoping that I'll be able to do more contemplation about life and my goals in the very near future. So far it looks like I'm going to not go back to school this fall, but plan on picking it back up for sure in the Spring or Fall '10. I like school and what goes along with it, but I always half ass it and I just feel like there are too many other things I want to do right now. My decision could still change but it seems like I'm going to take some time off.

I'm watching the Wire for the second time straight through. It's phenomenal, better than everyone says. It's one of those things that can be hyped up forever and constantly exceed expectations. As far as television goes, it is grade A for sure if you're looking for something that takes a little bit of focus.

Mark Buehrle, star of my last blog, will get another mention here. He was perfect through 5 in his first start after the 17th perfect game in MLB history. He retired a total of 45 batters, a Major League record. I don't really have anything deep to say about this. It's hard as fuck to do, it's about time Mark got some national pub. As far as sports goes, that's some cool shit right there.

Leggo is crushing it lately. From the WSOP success (and the party) to the latest videos, I think there's nothing but good shit going on lately. I appreciate it every time someone recognizes it on 2+2 or in a PM to me or in a recommendation to a friend. Speaking of which, I'm starting to work on my next article for the Private Strategy Forum. I'm not precisely sure what direction it will take but I've got some things written down that I want to say.

I am at my parents house tonight, and going on vacation tomorrow with the family to my aunt's house on a lake in Michigan. I get the feeling the weather won't be quite as nice as we're used to but I'm sure we'll be fine. I will more than likely not take my computer along for the ride. Instead, I'm going to try to do some reading that I never do, and in general just be less of a bum. I will more than likely crack and bring my computer anyways, who am I kidding.

Be good.

Wanting me to coach me

Posted 07-30-2009 at 03:40 AM by plzchazemynutzz
I was going earlier through the most recent article in HEM where the author was advising to search the database for the top 5 five winners for the limit you’re playing at and analyze some of their stats through filters.

To my surprize, the 5th was me, with the nickname I had on Carlos. Those are not all hands played there, only the latest, as I’ve changed computers at one point and lost older ones. As I was looking at the stats, I was realizing just how good my game was and how much I’d like to get back to that.

The reason for which my game changed at one point was that, as I swithed sites for a better rb deal, I was instantly doomswitched, losing around 40bi the first month there, 35 under ev. I’m a bankroll nit and that wasn’t a catastrophy, however it was enough to make me lose confidence in my game and turn to what I play till this day, smth like 20/16.

For the next months, my goal is to open up my game again and get back to that style of play, as I now realize the only reason I changed it was bad luck and fear.

Cheers
