Hey Guys,

First off let me introduce myself i am Roald, i am 22 years old and i life in the Netherlands. I started playing poker sometime in the summer of 2006 with a free $50 at party and was instantly hooked. I somehow managed to keep my "bankroll" alive while playing at the NL25 tables putting my full bankroll at the tables.

While at first i did not have a clue what i was doing, i slowly started to realize i had learn more about the game if i actually wanted to win some money. So i started watching every poker-strategy video out there and read pretty much any poker-book. And by the summer of 2007 i was a reg at the NL100 tables. I have to admit i got there with very aggro bankroll management but with 20 BI i felt great about playing 4 tables, who needs a big bankroll when there are plenty off fish to sponsor me. Things were looking pretty good at that time and i was able to make pretty good money.

While i was watching alot of training videos i stumbled upon a video from stinger about PLO and after watching the video i jumped onto a table of PLO100 trying out what i had just learned. My basic strategy at that time: play AAxx only, 3bet pre, jamm flop. And it worked great, i was playing all the PLO tables up to PLO400 at party at one point.

While playing alot of PLO i discovered another thing i did not know about, rakeback . I got a very nice offer at BattleField poker who gave me 55% back. I started playing NL again since there were not very many PLO games at microgaming at that time. I was a small winner at the NL400/600 games at the time and was able to pay the bills with rakeback.

But then came the downfall, i started to become overconfident and jumped into the high stakes without proper bankroll management. I remember one night seeing one guy sitting at a NL5k tables and decided i should play him HU (i had about 16k in my account at the time). I ran very hot in the match and stacked him twice in about 15 minutes. I then insta quit playing him, pretty much in shock because i had made that much money in so little time. I had quit for the day but i continued to play highstakes, i pretty much played every game in the range of NL2k to NL10k, and the inevitable happened. I lost big, and worst of all i was to stubborn to move down ("I am just unlucky, i will win again soon"), finally i ended up playing with my last 2k at a NL2k table losing my stack preflop AI with KK v AA. I was completely busto at the 15th of January 2008.

I deposited a couple of times after that but never was able to run up a decent bankroll to get back in the game (ran my roll up to a couple of k a number of times but never held on to it due to no bankroll management) and i actually quit playing somewhere in 2009.

But now i am back, i started grinding again in April of 2010. Playing the micros with a $50 deposit and finally some very strict bankroll management. Over the last 2 months i played NL25 and always had at least 40BI in my account.

But last month i had a real lack of motivation and only played about 12k hands (played 60k+ hands every previous month) . Thats why i decided to try something old, i am gonna play PLO for the entire month of December to make the game fun again. This is also why i started this blog, i wanna post my results, be criticized and stay committed to keeping good bankroll management.

Thank you guys for reading,

Greetz Roald

PS. Any feedback on my writing is very much appreciated.
