Took almost a month off of poker. I checked up on this site daily but other than that I didn't do too much poker stuff. Barely played, didn't check up on the forums as regularly and just focused on some other stuff. It was well needed and a great break from the grind.

Last weekend I went to South Haven which is a little beach town on Lake Michigan and had a blast. It was a friends birthday Friday and we partied all night and I went back Saturday to visit some more friends who had a place right on the canal that is right around the corner from some of the popular bars. My friend also had access to a million dollar pad that we partied at. Just think big ass house on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan with its own private beach, indoor hottub and just basic baller status stuff. Weekend was definately fun.

I also got a new phone finally. I've picked up the Palm Pre today which I'm in love with. I still don't know how to use all the stuff but so far its great. I live off this thing now, it brings in my emails from facebook, gmail, pokerstars, fulltilt, leggopoker, twoplustwo and other sites instantly. So if you PM me or message me on Facebook, I'll get it instantly. It also hasn't built up its app catalog yet and hopefully it will soon, I'm starting to get impatient with the 20 or so apps they have.

I did some work on my computer this past work and got it running a bit faster. I cleared some stuff out of it and customized HEM and re-installed PLO version of it. I still really don't like using the HUD but I think I might start using it for preflop spots and probably start to analyze some stats a bit more and use them hopefully really well and effectively.

Taking two trips starting in two days.

First a bunch of us are heading down to Lake Cumberland in Kentucky. We rented two big ass houseboats that have like 6 bedrooms on each, full kitchen, slides off the side and a hottub. We'll be partying down there for the 4th of July weekend, so if anyone is going there or in the area, hit me up. I'll be the one dressed up like a pirate floating on an inflatable aligator with a jack n' coke in hand.

If I survive Lake Cumberland, I'll be back for a whole 3 days then I'm off to Vegas to finish myself off. Girflriends mom is getting married at the Bellagio and thought it was perfect timing for me to take a trip out there. So we'll be out there for a week starting on the 9th. Sucks I have to miss the Leggo Party but I'll be there shortly after if anyone is still left in town, has money and isn't too hungover, get at me. Will be my first time to Vegas so I'm very pumped and my only goal in life right now is not to die before I take these two trips. Wish me luck.

Till then I'll probably be MIA. So anybody wanting coaching please hold off till I get back. And I'm sorry Matt I'm extremely busy and can't get out a video before I leave. I'd rather not force out a kick standard boring video before I leave.

Currently HU for a Bracelet!!!!

EDIT: Just doubled up.

EDIT: Blah no Jack and no win. 2nd place and over $200k though.

Had a sick hand where I think chewy either limped the button or barely raised it and the other guy shoves which was a decently sized overbet I believe. Either way, Chewy wasn't committed but tanked and called with 33 and was far ahead of his opponents 22 and held. Pretty cool hand. Congrats on the 2nd place though even though your prolly hate to here it.

Good luck to the few leggo members I see signed up in the $25k NLHE Championship on FTP.

Not sure how many people this will draw and how many from this site will be signed up but damn it'd be sweet if a leggo pro took this down.

If it rains tomorrow like the forecast suggests, I'll be railing. I expect some sick matches.

Life is good. Still not playing a ton of poker but I'm not very unhappy with that. I just don't have enough time with this work schedule to grind out 20k hands a month. Well, technically I do but I like to have a life outside of poker and work so that comes first.

This past weekend was great. Friday Jess and I had a little date night since she had the night off which is rare nowadays. We went out for some dinner and drinks, got a good bottle of wine that we both enjoyed. We've been pretty hit or miss on selecting wine lately and a few days ago I stocked up my wine collection with the 3 or 4 kinds we really enjoy that we can find around town. My dad got me a wine rack that fits perfectly in this little storage space I had. If you saw one of my first blogs on leggo when I moved into my new place I had the picture below up. The area in the red box is what I'm going to be working on. I moved up the bottom shelf one rung up so it could fit the wine rack that is sort of honeycomb shaped with circle spots for the bottles. My quick MS paint is about as good as you'll get from me. Above that is the other shelf I moved to the top run and I want to cut out spaces so I can use that shelf to hang wine bottles upside down and slide them in and out of the top area. This will be my next project and probably will take awhile to get done unless I get a bunch of time over a weekend.

Saturday Jess had to work so I hung out with some friends. A few of them were playing in their band at a bar in Grand Rapids so I decided to tag along. Earlier in the day, we were having a lunch and some drinks downtown and the bar tender was telling us about this drunken kickball he and a bunch of friends were putting on. He gave us the invite and we got all the band equipment packed up early and headed to the baseball field to meet some new people and try out drunken kickball. Apparently we didn't get the message, but everyone was suppose to be dressed up funny and wacky...not really sure what that has to do with drinking or kickball but we were the odd ones out wearing normal clothes. Everyone was really cool and the game was a blast. The rules I remember were you always had to have a drink in your hand. Couldn't catch or throw the ball without a beer in your hand. Had to kick with your opposite foot (hard sober, much harder drunk). There was a cooler at 2nd and you had to chug while you were on that base. There were some other rules I don't remember but long story short, it was really fun. My first time out in the field (obv picked to play second right next to the cooler) I got a triple play all by myself. Caught a pop up and two runners took off wihout tagging up so I tapped them out all with a bud light in my left hand. I think I'm going pro.

We left early and headed up to GR to some dive bar where the band played. Wasn't really that good of a time. My ex girlfriend was in town and was nice enough to drive up to hang out for a bit and rescue me as I would of had to wait for the band to get done before coming back to Kalamazoo. Fortunately, Kristy drove up and had a few beers before we rolled back to Kalamazoo. I know she reads this blog so I guess I should give her a shout out. Her and her fiance just got engaged so congratulations....on making me feel old as shit JK, I'm pretty happy for her and hope it works out and it was really nice seeing her. We got back and had a few drinks around town. Jess got off work and actually hung out with Kristy and I which was a little akward but we all had a good time. Jess and I stayed out until like 5:30am drinking at her place before I couldn't stay awake anymore and had to drag her home.

Sunday we grabbed some breakfest with a bunch of friends and headed over to South Haven. It was nice out and we took the 45 minute drive west to Lake Michigan to the little beach town that is basically dead 9 months out of the year but the spot to be around here for the summer months. I'll def be going back to South Haven and try to get some pictures for the blog, it's always a good time.

As far as poker goes, Matt wants some more PLO videos so I'm going to be working on those. I apologize for those sending me PMs through 2p2 and leggo. I don't have time to coach and would feel bad as I don't think I could give 100% at this time so in the meantime I'd be happy to rec some coaches and I basically give FREE coaching out in the forums so if you don't want to shed $200 an hour on coaching, you can post in the Leggo PLO forum and probably get some great advice for free.

Hope everyone is crushing the games and enjoying their summer.

This is a little plug for the site. And as full disclosure, I am not invested in the site one bit.

Over a year ago I think, Bill Seibert aka "Zimba" from cardrunners was creating his own website based on poker information. A sort of online poker hub if you will for ALL information regarding poker. He worked his ass off on the site and it looks like it has paid off. I helped him in the very very early stages put some of the stuff together but couldn't find the time keep going. I wish him all the best though and from briefly checking over the website, it looks pretty extensive. Hopefully this could be a place most of us check on a dailey basis to catch up on all the happenings in the poker world. Blogs, tournaments, rediculous million dollar challanges, podcasts and everything else we follow.

Here's a link to the site: http://www.pokercurious.com/

It's free to join if you want to. I know Bill has quite a bit more planned for the site, but I assume he's taking baby steps and getting everything running smoothly before adding on more content. Go check it out if you get some time. I'm sure Bill would love to here what you like and would like to see on the site too. Feel free to comment here or find a spot on the site to send your opinion.

Didn't play much in April. Averaged > 50 hour work weeks and have been avoiding the computer as much as possible when I'm not at work. This isn't working for me.

This month I'm going to cut back on work and going to adjust my schedule. Going to wake up earlier and only work 8 hours a day and try to log some 1-2 hours a night on average. I wanted to try this last month but haven't been able to.

Below is a youtube clip of a poem by Tim Minchin. Described as "Tim Minchin's amusing beat poem describes a dinner party in which he confronts a hippy." on the page, I think it's pretty accurate. Its a quick story about how he argues with a "hippy" about science and knowledge and other general topics. Its very good, I've listened to it twice already. Enjoy.

Also, I posted the other half of lwrunners HU vid. It was very interesting watching his side of the video. He wanted us to film it in real time and I freaking can't sum up my thought process enough before my time banks ran out so I played the whole match almost on no time bank. Other than that, I think it was very good. I'd suggest opening both videos simotaneously so that they show both hands at the same time (it will take a little adjustment since I started fliming sooner). Then just turn down one sound and listen to one video and watch, then rewatch it listening to the other sound. Its pretty sweet I think. If theres any demand, I'd be willing to do this again, but maybe in a deep SNG with no escalating blinds or on FTP...or maybe just not in real time. I can't explain HU PLO decisions in 5 seconds two tabling. Sorry.

Cheers,

Me

This is a sort of "You know what really grinds my gears" blog rant so be forewarned.

You know what really grinds my gears? The news industry. Not so much the industry as a hole but the content that it provides and how manipulated and insignificant it has become. I guess its a matter of preference really as to what "news" is important to each individual. The part that makes me angry isn't that fact that I turn on the television or log online and see stuff like:

The Octomom
American Idol
Remember "insert 80s celebrity here"
Susan Boyle
"insert big national murder investigation here" (craigslist killer)

The part that makes me angry is that this stuff gets coverage because its popular. People actively are interested in this stuff and it stays on front pages and gets repeated coverage over and over again. This isn't news. This doesn't effect my life one bit. To me, its a waste of time to think about and a waste of brain power to even care about what the hell that lady that had 8 kids said on some talk show. It scares me that in an "advanced" society as the U.S., there are hoards of people out there that consider this news and think its pertinent to their current and future livelihood.

Right now I log onto AOL.com from my work computer and the headlines read:

Accused Killer breaks down (craigslist killer)
Outbreak hits United States (swine flu)
Twists of fate (lightning strike kills motorcyclist)
Private stars divorce drama
Kim Kardashian dyes her hair blond (Holy ****!)
Serving up some eye candy - singer denies he's dating waitress
Drink Blocks Burger Fat
Major Chain offering $5 menu items
Biggest Fashion mistakes to make
ex heavyweight champ dies
neighbors from hell
fiery car wreck flies into crowd
Dealers compete for your money (this is literally is just an add for a website)
Pint Size ladies man (child gives dating advice)

I'll stop there but you get the idea. Probably the thing I was most interested in was that Swine Disease that has popped up a few places. It's even on the front page of the WSJ for Christ sake. 150 people world wide have died from it. Yes its sad, but does that warrant the coverage it has gotten? Especially when you consider the fact that 36,000 Americans die every year from Influenza (The flu).

I found this video that sums up my feelings pretty well.

In conclusion, it'd be nice if the companies responsible for reporting the news would report on topics that have real importance to world events....again, it'd be nice but it probably isn't going to happen. And I'm fine with that, I just won't take what Fox News says to heart and go about my day. What I really wish, is that the majority of this country (and the world) would stop looking at the news for their daily source of entertainment and drama and start looking to it for information and knowledge on current events that is actually educational. It'd be nice to grow up in a country where the majority of the population was not raised on a diet of The Surreal Life and E Hollywood News.

The end.

I've been listening to this band religiously for about the past month. The first single I heard of their was chicken fried and while I think its a good song, its a bit too...I dunno, expected and cliche for a country band to put out. Don't get me wrong, I like the song but they have other hidden gems that are much better. Running today I had this song pop up that I didn't know they sang. I downloaded it and it was titled "song 6" on my ipod so I had no idea it was Zac Brown until I got home and looked it up online.

This vid was the best version of the sound I could find on youtube, the vid is pretty meh so just listen.

Some other good songs is their latest single "Whatever it is" which is a freaking great song if you haven't heard it. "Toes" is another good fun song about taking a vacation, drinking and smoking. "Highway 20" and "Jolene" are ones I like a lot as well.
