shootaaA look at the life and times of Reid Young.
I went home over the last few days to do some kayaking lessons with my dad. Along with 6 others in club like a YMCA, we met to get started. We practiced a lot of maneuvering to get ready to roll ourselves from upside-down underwater to upright and ready to paddle again. I have to say that at first, being upside-down while you're strapped into something where your legs are fairly tight is a pretty uncomfortable feeling at first!
![]() This is what we're working toward. There are so many little things you have to do with the paddle and with your body, it's nuts to keep track of, and then you have to add in the fact that if you're not used to the under the water nature of this task that your brain is constantly firing out warnings that you're about to die. Those warnings hurt my concentration some, but I'm rolling next lesson. I'll make sure of it. I got some nice family time in over the last few days and hand washed and waxed my car outside one of the warmer days with my dad. I feel like washing your first car by hand outside is just one of those things in live that make me purely happy. It seems like poker numbs away some of the middling emotions sometimes, so it's always nice to find something you enjoy just for the sake of it. That's not to say that I don't enjoy a lot of things, I definitely do. There just aren't words for it guys. In other news, I've been writing some articles for CardPlayer and they've been going well. My one on Rush Poker should be out soon. It's so tough to tackle a subject in only a few pages, but I think that my writing is becoming more concise and interesting because of the limitations, not necessarily in my blog! I'd also like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to Dr. Giggy for being the 2nd Larry Bowl Champion. It's truly an amazing feat to best such a talented young field and I know he works hard on poker and it's a deserved win. Big ups giggy! I wanted to drop in and say hello to everyone. I hope you guys are doing well. -Reid
