Hello everyone!

I hope the holidays are getting off to as awesome of a start for you as they have been for me. I've gotten sick presents for my family (no spoilers just in case). I've made some cookies with my GF's grandparents, with basil icing and pomegranite molasses, obv. My brother has some time off as well, which is huge. He's always at work for the army, so the time I get with him is extra rare.

The point, more or less, of this post is to notify to everyone that I am indeed doing group lessons once again. The cost is $1500, which gets you 10 (yes, TEN) one hour lessons, once a week, with yours truly and a group of around 4 other players (depending on the number of players who sign up). I'm adjuting the groups based on the limits the players who sign up play and the time zones in which the players live.

Oh yeah... one lucky player who signs up will receive a free copy of my book, The Blue Book, which is currently being sold for $2500. So that's basically a free $300 or so to you guys who do sign up, depending on how many people who sign up. That works out to be about $120 a lesson if you're bad at math like me. PM me or leave comments about sign ups.

For those of you curious, I recently had a holiday party during which I showcased a few of my favorite drinks. I don't have pictures of all of them or access to my iPhone usb thingy, so I'll simply list the recipes and any instructions. Enjoy guys! and happy holidays!

-Reid

New York Flip:
1 oz bourbon (I used Woodford Reserve for this one as it's a bit too sweet for Bakers and something like a Bookers or Makers Mark is a bit too bitter and throws off the balance of the drink IMO... also, I like a gentleman's 1 oz, meaning about 1.5 oz)
3/4 oz Tawny Port (~$20 at your wine or grocery store)
1 egg yolk (yes, yolk, not white)
3/4 oz cream
1/4 oz simple syrup
1 pinch of nutmeg to garnish (sprinkled on the top after you've shaken the drink with ice and given it a second to foam up)

Silver Lining:
1.5 oz rye whiskey
3/4 oz Licor 43
3/4 oz lemon juice
1 medium egg white
2 oz club soda (shake the drink with ice and 1 oz of the club soda, add the remaining oz after you pour the drink and have given it a moment to foam... a high pour works best to make the drink foam more)

Silver Fizz:
2 parts gin (I like junipero)
1 part lemon juice
1 medium egg white
1 part simple syrup (shake the drink with ice and 1 oz of the club soda, add the remaining oz after you pour the drink and have given it a moment to foam... a high pour works best to make the drink foam more)
top the foam with 3-4 dashes of Angostura bitters (take care to not splash it on the edges of your Collins glass!)

Finally, the one I made up!

An Attempt at Greatness:
2 parts white cane rum
1 part benedictine
1 part lemon juice
2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters
1 pear wheel (cut through the center of the pear and de-seeded to reveal a star shape center-wheel)

Hello everyone!

First off, I'm still collecting member hand histories for an upcoming hand history review video. I just did a two part 200nl 6m series, which is what the people say they want!

So down to business: I'm going to start back my group coaching program and one of the lucky people who sign up this season will be shipped a copy of The Blue Book, for free! I'm sure your heads are probably exploding, so I'll start a new paragraph to give you some closure and for a bit of transition.

The way this season of group coaching will work is that I'm going to do 10 lessons for each group comprised of 5-7 people. The cost to sign up is $1500. This will get you at least one, likely two, personal lessons among your group peers, depending on the size of your group. We will meet using Skype, along with a screen sharing program, and recording software to make sure you guys are able to look over lessons long-after they're over. You will gain access to my private coaching forum in which you will have access to a focused group of poker players dedicated to making one another better. In most cases, and these are my hopes, groups continue discussion after my roll in your learning has lessened. I'm always available for any group member to ask me questions about a hand, via email, Skype, or AIM or through forum posts, which are encouraged to involve more people.

Post below or contact me through PM here on Leggo if group lessons interest you or if you'd like to hear more.

Keep posting your hand histories guys. I want to make a sweet and very detailed review video for you guys. All stakes and games are welcome!

Until Next time...

-Reid

PS - If you guys are unfamiliar with my book, The Blue Book, Here is a link to an older blog post I made that explains everything you'll need to know: http://www.leggopoker.com/blogs/shoo...more-8698.html

Hello everyone!

So I've been playing some poker here and there with a couple 5knl "sessions" where the tables break when I sit. There aren't many 5k regs in here, so I'm not calling out the masters or anything, but it's just sad when you can only play 50 hands and then everyone leaves ya.

So on to the point of this post: I want to make a hand history review video featuring HHs you guys find or have played and send them in to me. Whether it's something like Sauce being called by a pair on a 4 spade board or a hand from a session you've played that's confusing you.

Post or link me to a forum post in the comments section and when I get about ten, I'll whip that video up lickidysplit. Also, if you want to add a couple, that's cool, but try to limit yourself to 2-3.

Thanks guys!

Hey guys,

I haven't updated in a while so I thought I'd drop in to say what's up. I've been on that holiday grind, picking up some online presents, which HAS to be the way to go. I'm used to clicking buttons for money anyway, so shopping and clicking buttons is way more fun as far as gifting. So there's some advice so you guys don't get trampled by maniacs stealing shoes in their fat rolls (actually happened, feel free to google for lols).

Thanksgiving was pretty standard. This time at my parents place was nice because my dad and bro were off work, which is pretty rare since they both try to coordinate Christmas time. Zzz there.

I've just recently gotten out of the pits of doom of sleeping from around 7am 'til 2pm each day. I'm now bedding around 2am and getting up at 8am, which is going pretty well so far. I got soooo much done the first day I woke up early and especially with the sun starting to set around 430, it's easier to stay motivated during the light! It's probably some psycho-evolutionary affinity for light, but it's going well despite my usual aversions to the normal predispositions of the average sir.

In the poker world, things have been going well. I haven't been playing too much and when I do, a lot of the time it's fun things like 1/2 PLO, which is hilariously easy. Hero calling with a pair of twos in PLO is just so much more fun I think. I also got 2nd in a $55 hyper-turbo sng that I signed up for by mistake. So making 1k/day when you're just messing around with random cookie-cutter neverwasses (the new phrase btw) is pretty neat and fun to do sometimes while watching The Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire, The Office, South Park, House MD, and Dexter.

Barring the examination of a few sample articles, yours truly is about to become a regular writer for the CardPlayer magazine. It's pretty neat because a lot of people see what I'm doing as far as teaching Joe Q neverwas about poker and having a lot of fun doing it and spreading the love. If you guys have any requests for articles (no style articles with pink cardigan HH explained requests please), feel free to comment away and you'll most likely see an article on that topic in CardPlayer!

My roomy won the Larry Open, which is... well if you don't know what the Larry Open is, you're just a Loyd BUT it's an invite only tourney in which poker's finest do battle. He bested the likes of Jungleman, Macdaddy34, and, in more hilarious fashion, Craigthedeac. So congrats to him on taking down the inaugural Larry Open.

I got some Tritton headphones for playing COD: Black Ops, and wow. It's like playing a completely different game when you can hear the COD parents spawning the babies of your competitions across a map and then knife them as they run around trying to do something about it. Easily worth the $160 and much recommended if you game at all.

This post has definitely been rambly, but that's what's been happening lately for me. I hope that you guys are doing well! BAI

Hey guys, thanks for all the support for my NAPT run. I got 16th in the main event 5k buy in for 21k. I lost my first and only race of the tournament with AJ vs TT, quite sad, such are the ways of the donkamenter I guess... which is why I don't do that on the reg!

The quality on the vids isn't amazing, but I gotta run now to go to NAPT in LA!

Holler if you're out there!

Hey guys!

I've been promising pics of our place and of my car for a while now and have yet to deliver! I'm writing this post with the promise that I will post it tonight after our first kickball playoff game. We're the only undefeated team. As the saying goes, in the land of the mediocre athletes the men who are slightly above mediocre are king!

I just wanted to make a post about poker for once. It's not something theoretical or that deep. I think that one of the most satisfying feelings in poker is putting in a long session, getting beat down after beatdown, JJ v QQ a million times... and coming out the other side to book the W. Better than that, I played so long yesterday that I enterred into some Rainman phase of transcending the virtual felt and experienced the inside of many player's souls. Every bet, the timing, the sizing, the board texture, the stack sizes, everything was just taken in and reacted to very well. It could've just been the fact that around 7am, my mind was telling me to stop by having these feelings, but I also crushed everyone I played during this feeling, so I'm going to choose the results oriented mystic feeling everytime. Has this ever happened to you guys? I think it's like when pro athletes talk about how they're in the zone or how the basket just looks like a hoolahoop from the three point line. Anyway, it was cool and I thought I'd ask around and see if others had the same feeling.

I'm off to food and kickball. I'll post some sick things ASAP. <3

Dear LOLOLOLOLOL,

We have determined that you are entitled to a refund of $33.43 which will be placed in your account in the next 72 hours.

For a number of reasons, we are unable to provide any other additional information regarding this case, including the players involved and the game type where it occurred. Now... what to buy?!?

I just got in my new poker table. We are setting it up today and it's my roomy's bday and we're going to a 311 concert! Should be a great day. I'll post a video of our place when we're finished with all those shinanigans.

Poker has been going well lately. I've been running a little less good than how I'd like to run, but who isn't!? I feel like I'm playing better than most of the people I'm playing by a long-shot and that it's about time to tackle some high stakes action again, so keep a lookout for that! My confidence is through the roof and it's time again to test the limits in attempts to better my poker-self.

Book sales are going great! It's weird, but I'm mostly shipping outside of the USA and I mean everywhere outside of the USA; hopefully, this doesn't lead to some treason charge or Euros suddenly becoming the best Hold'em land in all the world :P So get my book, for America! All the reviews I've read have been dead on accurate about the content and homework being no walk in the park, but that if you grind it, you'll get better. Some advanced players may have visited most of the book, but I think there's something to offer anyone who is playing 5/10 or below (from what I've seen of the 5/10 crowd's games). Some people also are just randomly hating... like people with 6 or 10 posts on 2p2 just going to town about how I'm a "greedy scammer" and that the people doing the reviews of my book probably aren't even real! Seriously, people have said these things about me! Very crazy stuff. It's amazing to me that when someone grinds so hard to put something good out and it's a large part of themselves invested (it's my take on how poker should be taught, etc) that there are just complete randoms out there who love to spew hate. Contructive criticisms are one thing and definitely welcome because that's how I'll get better and how I can write in the book's forum about mistakes or about something I didn't discuss that you'd like to hear discussed, but please, take a look in the mirror and get a hold of yourselves haters. Life is too short for that mess.

Hope you guys are doing well! (even the haters)

-Reid

PS - Group coaching will be starting soon, so PM me if interested

Hey what's up guys? I hope you're well.

I wanted to swtich things up a bit in this blog post and give you guys some real life content, something that has absolutely nothing to do with poker (spoiler alert).

I had an idea somewhat recently about absolute morality and how I think it can't be true. Basically the poker equivalent of always calling with AA preflop... it seems good in principal, but when you really do the math, it sucks. So if you're a Devine Command Theorist, Kantian follower, or other school of absolute morality, I welcome your input in my comments section, but I probably won't agree with it.

I was reading this book I got a while back on the subject of Albert Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity and thinking about applying those physical concepts to a moral choice in a temporal setting. So say it's wrong to perform action A when a certain light is green, but when the same light is red (when God says to, <insert absolute source of morality>, etc) action A is either morally permissable or a moral imperative.

Back to relativity, essentially, for you guys who aren't familiar with the concept, because of the constant speed of light, there is an altered perception of the time/space continuum when you're at differing distances from an object (a different reference point) than another perceiver, same with velocity. As velocity and distance change, so does our perception of an object, more accurately, the light being reflected off of the object, because the speed of light remains a constant.

Now, person S(hootaa) and person R(uby) are at two different distances from the above mentioned light the instant it is about to change (it changes in the next smallest possible amount of time, "an instant" or whatever you'd like to call it). If an action is morally wrong when the light is red and morally permissable or morally obligatory when the light is green, then it's simple to see that following the same "absolute" morality, the two different perceivers from their two different reference points are morally obligated to act in two different ways at the same time. As the light reaches the further of the two perceivers, say R, he will act differently than S, who is closer to the light and has already processed it's change from green to red.

See morally obligatory MSpaint below:

What do you guys think? The red line is supposed to be shorter and therefore getting to me sooner than the green gets to Ruby. The green at the end of the red light line is also showing how the ray of light looks just as the light has changed from green to red.

The obvious counter-argument is that the moral choice is dependent on the perception of the particular person, but I'm convinced there has to be something to disprove that idea or make it seem not as worrisome... that's where I'm hoping you guys can help me out some.

So let me know. I think it's some pretty fun food for thought.

Take care guys. Cribs episode is coming soon!

-Reid
