Wow, this week has really flown by. I had planned on posting to my blog 3 or 4 times and will most likely get 2 in.
![]() Poker, Poker, Poker So I have been splitting time across Stars and FTP. I have only gotten in about 2k hands this week, but given that I only had 2k hands for the month up until Monday it has felt like a lot more. I actually started out playing 50NL since I had been on quite a break (see my previous blog entry for my approach to breaks). Of course, as soon as I started feeling good about where I was flow-wise I jumped up and hit a streak of nasty variance (ran KK into AA deep, ran top two into bottom set, etc etc), so I am in that interesting spot where my winrate is up, but my bankroll is down. ![]() I will hopefully get to play a bit this weekend. I have a few other poker commitments, but should be able to get a few hands in. Snowboard Trip Report This past weekend was excellent. The weather cooperated for the most part (we got hit with some wet snow and wind Sunday). The runs were good and surprisingly there were no lines at all. I am not sure if this was a function of the weather, the economy, or both. My new board performed like a champ. It was much less cumbersome, more agile on the turns, and just quicker in general than the rental boards that I had been riding on previously. It was really amazing how much more feel you have for the mountain on a nice board (or at least one nicer than a rental). I had some concerns about taking brand new boots out for a long snowboarding session, but the Lasheds worked great even though they are a slightly harder boot. I did wind up getting tired later in the days, but that was probably more due to just being generally out of shape as there was no pain that accompanied the fatigue. I also got my heelside working this past weekend too (finally). So I was able to work on my heelside traverses as well as garlands, which felt great. The marathon snowboard session definitely helped with this as the issues I was having were just driven by bad form, which was worked out over the many runs down the mountain. We were originally planning to head up again this weekend. Unfortunately my wife tweaked her knee pretty good (partial tear of the MCL 4tl ). Her season is definitely over and the rest of ours will definitely be impacted. She would be perfectly willing to watch, but it just doesn't seem fair to ask someone to take a 2-1/2 hour ride so they can sit around in freezing weather with crutches and an immobilizing brace while everyone else is having a great time...so we will need to take a couple of weeks off and reassess the turn (er, knee) then.
