At 24-years-old Eric is a graduate of University of Guelph in Ontario,Canada where he obtained a degree in Economics and Finance. For the past two years Eric has been playing at $5/$10 NL and as of the last 12 to 14 months he has been playing $10/$20 NL. Not only does he play those limits and 6-max on a regular basis, as poker has been his job for the past three years, but he also dips into $25/$50 NL.
Eric first initially built his bankroll when he deposited $50 into a PokerStars account. He first began playing $5 SNGs and small buy-in MTTs, but as a few months passed he realized that his bankroll was not making a huge increase, so he decided to make a new start and switched to Full Tilt. After the switch he began winning a couple MTTs and grew his bankroll to $1500 before going into NL cash games. Once he made the move to NL cash games he started playing $0.25/$0.50 NL and soon after he was flying though the limits.
Although the small limits are what helped Eric move up, he did face his own set of challenges. For the first several months he had difficulties understanding the basic concepts of the game. It took a few self realizations and as he said epiphanies, but soon he noticed that really it was just simple things such as positions and hand readings.
Through his poker career Eric didn't have many people helping him understand hand readings and other fundamentals. However, he did have one coach, "MDMA" on Two Plus Two, who helped him solidify his 6-max games and take him from being just a $5/$10 NL player to bigger games. Besides the help of his coach, Eric credits a lot of the poker training sites to his success. " I have always sought out every different opinion and perspective I could find and I think studying many different playing styles and perspectives has helped a great deal," said Eric. With thoughts about his future, Eric hopes to be still playing poker and also be involved with some business ventures, whether it's real estate investing or starting his own small business. Coaching
