Frank Calo was majoring in information studies of technology at Syracuse University when he decided to take time off to focus on the important things in life – namely poker. He’s done the standard 9 to 5 thing, having held a summer job with an IT company, and knows he would much rather spend his time as he has these past couple of years: playing high stakes MTTs and 2/4 to 5/10 cash.
Frank has always liked poker, though he really got started playing seriously his freshman year of college with a group of people on his floor in the dorms. Before moving up to high stakes MTTs, he was grinding turbo 180 mans to build his bankroll. Of course, as in any success story, he faced challenges. “It was really hard in the beginning until I met people who were very good,” Frank said. Meeting great players who put time into helping him improve, like fellow Leggo pro nutsinho, made a big difference in his game and taught him a lot of what he knows.
Now that he’s stabilized his position as a top poker player, what’s next for Frank? Obviously coaching Leggo poker, but beyond that it’s hard to say. A true statistician, Frank simply states: “The possibilities vary too much to give a reasonable answer here.”
Frank finished in the top 100 in the 2011 and 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event, a very impressive feat. Frank also placed 3rd in a $2,000 buy in tournament at the Venetian. Coaching
