Russ has been playing online poker off and on for the past 6 years. He describes his poker career as "interesting" having taken small deposits to respectable bankrolls and playing as high as $5/10 NLHE (though admitting to only being solidly bankrolled for $2/4 NLHE at the time) multiple times. Unfortunately, on each of these occasions Russ ended up either losing it all or needing to leave poker altogether due to changes in his personal life.
Recently, he returned to the poker scene with yet another small deposit. Russ knew that the largest stumbling block in his development as a poker player and ability to progress beyond the mid-stakes had been his ability to control his emotions. So based upon this he researched the how's and why's of emotional control and tilt. With this knowledge Russ is once again grinding up a bankroll at an even faster pace than in his previous stints online, but more importantly he is doing it with more confidence than he has ever had over the past 6 years.
Away from the tables Russ works as a Project Executive for a top construction firm. He has been fortunate enough to work for this same company for the past 20 years, with the exception of a five year break in order to undergo field level training. Interstingly enough, one of the biggest hindrances to Russ' development in his professional life had been that he was prone to being over-emotional at times. This however is no longer and issue and Russ gives full credit for this change to what Poker has taught him about controlling his emotions.
Russ views poker as a great mental and physical challenge and while he could not envision leaving his current job and being away from the people that he has worked with and that have supported him for so long, he is working hard to progress to the top games and to help poker allow him to continue to grow in ways that enrich all facets of his life.
